You can probably get away with using regular pliers but most likely you're going to damage the pin. For BPS reels the pins are not sold separately and you have to buy the spool if you damage the pin. You're better off getting the Boca pliers to do the job correctly.

TJ, Enter me! I just received my order of Power Team baits. I'm fishing a small mouth tourney in Northern Wisconsin in a few weeks. These baits are sick!!! Helped me learn how to take it apart and fix it myself. That's awesome. Were you just changing the bearings to run it dry? And if so, what's the benefit of running it dry compared to oiling it up.

Peroy T If you're needing reel cleaning videos, I have quite a few of those. This was just a bearing upgrade. You can oil the bearings to help protect them and quiet them down, but I prefer to run them dry. Yes, they're a little louder, but you'll get a little more distance on a cast. Oil creates drag and drag will slow the bearings down.

Hey, I have aJMX10HD... where can I find replacement parts for this reel? Mine makes a ton of noise when I set the mag brakes to 10... makes less noise when they are set at 0. Makes noise when I reel in. The black plastic "star" piece on the side of the spool as a hairline crack in it... this might be the issue? Bearings? The reel is like new.

What are the pros and cons of Dry or Oiled BOCA bearings? I am on the fence whether or not to change them out.

Boca bearings can be ran dry and will cast further. Using oil causes slight drag so you won't get quite the distance, but your bearings will last a little longer. The oil helps to keep them cool as well as quieting them down.

Hey man I have the same reel it was gave to me it needed some work finished to its the spool keeps spinning it was like the brake was not working I noticed in your video when you pulled off the brake side that my is miss the magnetic brake or I assume that is what the sliver round parts are in the back side do you know how I can get the part number for that and did the bearing updated help in any with yours

Gear ratio shouldn't make a difference...same bearings should work.
