Even Glen Bell, the founder of Taco Bell knew that his premade crunchy shells and premade ground beef with "Mexican style" seasonings wasn't authentic "Mexican". The man was a WWII veteran who first sold hot dogs but that market and the burger market were already becoming saturated. The first Taco Bell didn't come to life until 1962 in Downey, California and the original was later taken over by someone else who made a "more authentic" style. Listen, many people in the US have only places like Taco Bell to compare it to. Most don't live in Los Angeles, California, like I do, where we have tons of more authetic choices. Today, right in Boyle Heights, I ate at my new favorite and my entire breakfast of green chilaquiles and coffee only totalled 8$ US! Since there is no table delivery, there was no tip and I was the first customer of the day at a little past seven. Had I been awake enough I would have ordered menudo.

Nah, she said it's "more a Caribbean side" and tbh I lowkey agree. Ofc it's everywhere but ngl I associate it more with PR, DR, Colombia, and Spain. Something like tres leches; much more neutral and common everywhere, at least Colombia/Central America and up. But I hear words like "conchas" or "elotes" or even "Duvalín" (ugh I love that stuff sm) -- sounds like 100 Mexico party popping lit snacks, can't mistake it for anything else.

@@ariah9643 No I get what you mean, we all share almost all the same desserts with simple different things. I didn't understand that pasteles were tamales until I stayed with a Peruvian family; I hear "frijoles" and think "What a Mexican word. Habichuelas are better." I'm saying the association of something like flan is usually with the hispanic Caribbean islands, Colombia, and Spain, and I believe this is because their focus is mostly concentrated on these desserts. They've had it for so long and made so many times that they culture worked on perfecting it. Let's take music, for example. It's like reggaetón: yeah, any Google search can tell you its origins are stated as Panama, but Puerto Rico just focused on it long enough to perfect and develop the genre. Latinos (and even non-Latinos now!) associate reggaetón with Puerto Rico. Or Latin trap; it was really produced by all of the Caribbean kids probably playing on Soundcloud in the U.S., but people hear it and think of the streets of PR and DR.

Adrienne is so loud she can’t think straight. Flan is not from the Caribbean, it originates from Spain/Rome. The reason people think it’s from Mexico is because Mexico has made it popular

Adrienne, no one is saying they don't like Taco Bell, they're just saying it's not the first restaurant they would go to for authentic Mexican food, it's an American restaurant.

Taco Bell is some of the trashiest fast food, but it’s soooooo good. 😋 🌮 Thanks The Real Daytime for reminding me that I don’t have any Doritos Locos Tacos with sour cream today.

This got me wanting some 🌮🌮 now. F&&k it I'ma make some tonight lol, authentic ones. Taco bell is ok and affordable but it's not even authentic. Authentic tacos don't have cheese, lettuce or tomatoes in it. It's usually just onions and cilantro for the toppings. Corn tortillas not flour are used.

At times depending on where u get it from they will put cheese on it. But it's Mexican cheese that you crumble.

There’s a little place in San Angelo, TX called Armentas. IT IS AMAZING. BEST MEXICAN FOOD IVE HAD IN MY LIFE. The carne asada is soooo tender. Best carne asada tacos ever. Also Adrienne, flan is not more Caribbean lol. We have them everywhere in Peru where I’m from and that South America not Caribbean 😊

The problem Adrienne, is that it was voted best Mexican food when it’s not authentic. When there are restaurants like Tapatio, El Pescador and Don Chente. That’s why we are upset.
