I must say Taco is a fascinating guy. Hes fluent in German without the Asian accent going on. Same with his English. Its perfect US English. I wonder if he grew up on US airbases around the world. That's the only thing that makes sense. Nice to have him around. Hes been a thing i grew uo with as a teen on Germany tv. And his still there doing his show tunes with the pop twist. Wonder if he ever did As time goes by from Casablanca. He seems made for that song. But theres so many tunes from the golden days of Hollywood. To be or not to Be. When you wish upon a star both seems good choices for him but some 3:25 songs might be hard to get. You never know what song costs an arm and a leg.. 😅

America sure missed out on this talented performer. At least I got to enjoy a few of his videos at the age of 73. Can't help but think that with his looks and big smile that he would have broken into the movies if he had moved to L.A.
@RocStarr9132 жыл бұрын
Taco has said that his reluctance to move to America is partially why he gave up on trying to have that kind of stratospheric international career after the first two albums. He felt that it would have been lonely and isolating for him and that show business in America was a more impersonal experience compared to working in Germany.

@@miker6570 Taco has said that part of it was because he didn’t want to have to move to America to keep trying at that level of international success he had with “Ritz.” He grew up mostly in European countries and he was used to how the music industry operated in Europe where it was like a big family and felt he would ultimately be lonely and isolated trying to work in America. Sometimes it’s better to just have the kind of career that keeps you happy rather than famous. So many performers of his era were either broken by or even prematurely died trying to hold onto that kind of success.

I keep listening to these songs not understanding how I didn't hear anything other than Puttin' On The Ritz when I was growing up in the 1990's. I am in the USA and I loved my 80's music so I have just been listening to Taco since Hot Summer Jams came out wondering how I am 36 and never knew about this guy. Every song I listen to is 100% a hit. Was he not big in the states or something?
@RocStarr9132 жыл бұрын
From what Taco himself has said, he said that he was told by his management that if he really wanted a protracted international music career, he would have had to move to and reside in America to have that kind of music career. He said that he mainly grew up in European countries and the music business there was a far more cozier atmosphere for him to how it was in America. He also was told he would have to distance himself from his band in America and travel separately from them and that just wasn’t the kind of show business life he wanted. He would have felt that it would be ultimately lonely and isolating for him to try to still be internationally successful having to work in America. And since most of the world outside of Germany, where his career was based in, really quickly lost interest in Taco after “Puttin’ On The Ritz”, there was as a result very little demand for Taco’s later music to be released in many countries outside of Germany after the second album when it was first released. As an American yourself, as am I, I’m sure you know how fickle music buyers have long been here.
