This was the most complete, well done video on any rub rail project. I have a 2005 Boston Whaler with the exact style rub rail, but slightly larger. The rub rail is in good condition, but I'm getting leaks in my interior - time to remove & reseal. Is there any problem with simply removing, cleaning, sealing old set screw holes and reinstalling screws in new places?

In fact, that is what most folks do and what we have done in other Rub Rail installation videos. Thank you for this video. Hope to install new rub rail soon. Questions - - Screws or rivets? - Why start at the front center? If i missed it in the video, sorry.

Thanks for your questions. We used SS screws for the install, which are included in each TACO Rub Rail Kit. Also, we begin at the front center for a few reasons. 1. finding the center point of the RR ensures you have equal lengths for each side of the boat around to the transom. The last thing you want is not enough on one side and too much on the other. 2. Securing at the center of the bow anchors the RR to the hull and enables you to easily and securely continue the install down each side accordingly. Please let us know if you have more questions. @@TACOMarine Thank you, and for the prompt response! Other question - I received SS screws in the kit, from taco. I, have on hand, SS 3/16 rivet's, from when I reattached the top cap to the hull. Which would you use, to secure the rub rail, and why?

I have a 14’ Livingston cat would I need to heat the rubrail when going along the complicated front of those types of boats( very drastic turns and corners)?

Thanks for your questions. Depending on the rub rail you choose to use for replacement, you may have to use a heat gun. We've looked at photos of the boat, and the turns are on a horizontal plan, which is the easiest bend to make for rub rail. If you purchase a rigid profile, a little provided by the heat gun should make it a fairly simple installation. Just take your time, and it will look great. If you purchase a flexible rub rail replacement, you should be able to make the bends without having to heat the product. Please let us know if you have additional questions. Thanks! ~ Team TACO

Hi that boat you just did had a rolled edge, using those screw your had prob 2in of screw threads sticking out the backside of every screw, on an install like that wouldn’t rivets be a better choice, I ask because I bought your kit for my carolina skiff 238dlv with a rolled edge like the boat in this vid I got the semi rigid rail and stainless looking insert that’s just rubber coated Mylar and would like to have a professional looking outcome thanks

What type of screws are you using? I bought a Taco Flex kit but no screws! I know they are SS but length and head type???

Hey Mark, Thank you for your "How to Install" video for the Rubrail. Does Taco Marine Have the Clear Insert? I plan to replace my old rubrail and install a new Rubrail but with some RGB LED light strips inside a clear Insert. My next option is to install the LED strip underneath the rub rail. Plz. Reply with your suggestions. Dont worry, I understand that Taco Marine will have no responsibility of my LED strip if damaged for my use of this install.

Hi Jeff, we do have a clear base insert we run for a few rub rail profiles. However, these inserts generally receive our patented Flex Chrome technology. Which profile do you have installed on your boat?

I’m refurbishing a 1969 Hydrocycle Barracuda, there’s a short video on my page showing what it is, basically a predecessor of seadoo that takes an outboard... i gotta glue the top back to inside the bottom via a 3/4 inch lip in the bottom that the top fits into. This leaves a strip of fiberglass seam that protrudes about 1/4 inch from the rest of the boat. It originally had a strip of Aluminum around the seam but it is not usable for my restoration... I plan to use 5200 to glue and seal the seam back together. Can I use just this rubber strip like you have here to apply over the seam to hide and protect it? There are 2 outside 90* turns and 2 inside 90* turns on the transom. The seam is at the very outer diameter of the boat, and is vertical.
