I have been working on boats since I was 19, in Counce Tennessee on the Pickwick lake. It’s a huge transit stop, and a big time summer vacation spot. I decided to start my own detailing business after being let go end of season by a guy I was helping. Right before Christmas. So 2022 Alanah’s Overboard Cleaning and Detail was born, and I am soooooo grateful for your videos. If I ever feel like I want to learn more before providing a service your videos are where I go. You have seriously helped me so much. I enjoy the work, and hopefully I can continue to grow and learn! Don’t stop what you do, there are no other people out here that come close to being as informative and helpful as you are on boat detail.

The amount of brilliance that comes out of this is absolutely staggering. Honestly, I'm dying to learn what something like this really costs, even on a moderate level: $500.00...? $2000.00? This is such an informational video, thank you! I have been using Shine Supply products to polish and maintain my boat for several years, but yet still learned a ton from your video. It's hard to beat the satisfaction of putting such a nice gloss on an old oxidized boat. I have one question, can you tell me how you clean out your wool pad, yellow pad, and orange CCS pad both during use (if you do at all), as well as when you're all finished with the job?
@DrakesDetailing
@DrakesDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You can’t really “clean” the foam ones, you pretty much just use those ones until they are gone. The wool ones, you can use a pad spur to fluff them up in between passes. After a job, you can then wash them with warm water, then put it back on the buffer and really crank up the buffer and fling all the water out. It works pretty good! m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnvbY4OOfJ2Ji5Y

For a boat cover, just use Dawn soap with a really abrasive brush, the treat the canvas with water proofing.

Awesome work! How did you clean up / polish the non-skid gelcoat? Does that require a special technique?
@DrakesDetailing
@DrakesDetailing 9 ай бұрын
m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5PJmWurmLhkgZo Depending on what kind of gel coat it is or non-skid, yes. This is what I do for all diamond pattern on skin surfaces. Hope this helps!

on the rear deck, with the textured/slip-reducing surface, what did you use? that isn't a sand-able surface, was it just cutting and buffing?
@DrakesDetailing
@DrakesDetailing Жыл бұрын
It was just cutting and buffing, you can’t really wet sand non-skid because it will break it down too much

Very nice. I was really waiting to see how you take care of all that built up calcium stuff on the back if the boat and on the outdrive. Any pointers on that?
@DrakesDetailing
@DrakesDetailing 5 ай бұрын
A lot of the calcium in the dries either need to be sanded or blasted off, then repainted with whatever brand drive paint it is.

@@DrakesDetailing thanks for your reply. I have a confession. While I was curious to hear your method. This is how I clean that nasty buildup. As well as all other water line and below. We have a stamped out like Pennie’s, Bayliner Capri 185. With a MerCruiser alpha one out drive. Powered by a 200 horsepower Chevrolet 4.3 liter V6. From 2001 until present. I get some heavy rubber gloves. The blue 3M non scratch scrubby pads. Then I grab a gallon of muriatic acid. It magically eats all the stuff I want gone. Leaving nothing but a brand new,shiny finish. I don’t know the science of it. But it doesn’t seem to hurt anything! The stickers still come out like new! The only problem I’ve ever had? When I used some crappy thin gloves and tore them and got that stuff on my hand. And the time I did it with the boat in the garage without enough ventilation. You don’t want to be breathing this stuff.
