Hello guys, I just wanted to give you a little how to on the The Easiest Spread for Trolling I've ever used. with this spread I've been Trolling for Mahi Mahi, Tuna and Kingfish for a long time and I tough it is time for me to share my methods with the world.
This is NOT just another how-to video. This is something that I tested many many times and always work... I've been using the trolling method for years and I can almost do figure eights with this spread behind the boat without getting tangle.
Hope it works for you as well as it had done for me and let me know in the comments what you use and how you do it... I'm always looking for ways to improve and sometimes little changes can go a long way.
That's it for now folks. Please hit the Like button and Subscribe to the channel for more videos and tutorials. #fishing #fishinghowto #soflofishing #trolling #trollingformahi #trolingfordolphing #trollingfortuna #trollingforkingfish #lures #rods #reels #trollingspreads

Thanks, what an awesome tutorial, what a great speaking voice also. I’ll put it to the test this weekend. I live on Florida’s Gulf Coast, and Kings, Black-fin tuna, and maybe even Mahi Mahi are all out there, near shore, this time of year October/November ,…

Question for ya: I'm going sailing in Antigua next week and am bringing a couple of trolling rods to target mahi mahi. I have a couple Rapalas (dive to 30') and also some 8" squid skirts that I intend to run. Can you please advise on how you run squid skirts? Do you typically have them skipping along near the surface or are they further down? I have equipment (dipsy divers) that could target lower depths if recommended. Thanks I'm advance. Peter

@SaltyTales
@SaltyTales 6 жыл бұрын
Give this method a try... I never got a tangle like this... you can almost drive in figure eights and you wont get tangle. Colors on the lures I’ll say white and blue for mahis but is tough... some times they like that and some other times they wont go for it... but white and blue are GOOD place to start!

First, I just found your channel and THANK YOU. Second, I want to make sure I'm understanding- you're putting your feather out first- just one, 250 yards out. Then, with your islanders and plugs, you're putting a pair of each out - one on each side of the boat and then one Rapala close to the boat for a total of 6, is that correct?
@SaltyTales
@SaltyTales 6 жыл бұрын
That is 100% correct! Thanks for the support!

Hi very informative video, Thanks. Can you comment on the speed (range) of the boat when trolling your spread. Any suggestions regarding changing speeds ?
@SaltyTales
@SaltyTales 6 жыл бұрын
I'll always be running my boat between 6 to 10 mph while doing this kind of fishing, Mahis, Tunas, Kingfish and so on can swim a lot faster than that so it will never be a problem for them to get to those lures whenever they want. About depth here in South Florida I wont bother to stop for any reason before reaching the 1000 feet depth. from there to 2000 feet is a good range, sometimes I'll be out 20 mines from shore... if it doesn't look good I'll keep going east until I change my mind, see a bird, grass or objects on the surface, there I'll always start running south against the current and 90% of the time I find them. Thanks for the support. I'm glad liked the video!

Coño tremendo video , My first time seeing your video, First of all Muchas Gracias Brother!!! Thank you very much for sharing this information, I will be Kayak Fishing here on the Texas Coast, I will have at least two rods for Lures and one for perhaps live bait or lure as well for this set up would you recommend a Feather or two, and one Islander,, also what LB of Mono are you using to tie the lure? your thoughts are appreciated Salty.
@SaltyTales
@SaltyTales 5 жыл бұрын
Gracias brother! It will all depend of what you are targeting, if you are going for kingfish I'll go with the live bait and the rapalas, if you are looking for tuna then the feathers will work, dark colors, tuna love feathers, and if looking for mahi then the bullets are awesome as well as the feathers... The other thing you can do is to mix it up a little bit and if nothing happen for some time be ready to change and improvise. Thanks for the support and kind words!
@andyestrada229
@andyestrada229 5 жыл бұрын
Salty Tales it will be mostly Kings and Dorado or Mahi, Tunas are too far out , I can get 4-5 miles at most in about 65 feet of water the Texas Coast flat but some small platform rigs are within 3-5 mile range
@SaltyTales
@SaltyTales 5 жыл бұрын
Nice man! At that range we target kings and sometimes tuna comes down shallow too... Mahis are more difficult to find at that range here. So start trolling with live bait and rapalas, those are great for kings, also remember that kings go deeper as the day progress, early in the morning they will be at top water and going deeper and at about 10 AM they'll be biting at 20 to 40 ft down. Please send me a photo on FB!

I have a 43 ft POST so what type of set do you recommend? I am new at this so any advise would be great.
@SaltyTales
@SaltyTales 6 жыл бұрын
Man with a 43er you can do a lot of stuff! But if you are only starting on trolling start with the same 6 rods layout I explained here... That will give you fish and time to learn and get better on it. Once you know what to do you can have a nice 12 rods setup with outrigger behind your boat and be a killer!! Go to 1500 feet and start looking for grass, birds or anything else on the water and once you find it troll around it up and down for a while, you’ll catch some fish for sure!
