Nice video; I am doing a similar mod to my 1966 Mustang (302), any suggestions on engine cooling, fans, etc? I have very limited surface area in this application, so I am worried electric fans will not be adequate.
@TacoJoe3 жыл бұрын
Whats nice on a 66 Gen1 Stang is that unlike my corvette, air flows STRAIGHT into the grill through the radiator / on my vette, there is a plastic deflector below the bumper that is REQUIRED to direct air through the radiator or it overheats / I'd go with the dual fan setup on your stang / it will work great. Basically on the highway they won't run, but in traffic they will kick in. Best part: With the Pro-Flo app, you can set the temperature that they come on / target a few degrees above your thermostat and you'll be all set / thanks for the comment Tony!
@tonyf56423 жыл бұрын
@@TacoJoe thanks for reply, only issue with dual fans on mine is my exposed radiator area is only 19w x 16h. Champion makes a nice 3 tube aluminum radiator with a 16" Spal fan; I'm going to call them on it. They claim it cools up to 450hp, well above my motor.
@TacoJoe3 жыл бұрын
I think you are on the right track / a 450hp rating is likely rated on how much gas your beast 302 can pump through the engine on a spirited drive - thus - I think Champion likely figured that in with their 450hp rating. IMHO - Both Ford 289/302 (& Chevy 283/302/327) are the best American V8's ever made. Its a balance of rev ceiling and torque / also -SPAL makes EXCELLENT fans - I have a few of them now / good luck with your build Tony!

I had no clue Edelbrock had a kit like that, with the tablet. I'm not one for classic American engines too much, but the fi and the tuning kit seem very impressive. And the video was great too.

Even though this video is from two years ago I find it very helpful. Thank you for putting this video up on KZbin. I did not know about the Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4 Fuel Injection system. I bought the Fast EZ EFI 2.0 system and have had lots of problems with it. It was so bad I took it off my car and went back to a Holley Carb. My system learned in the wrong direction and running was progressively terrible. (Back firing, code errors, ETC.) I am going to give this system and EFI another try.

Great video. Wiring is definitely a tricky part of any build and there are SO many options for every section and peice of a builds wiring. This is one of the better group of tips. You could make a numbered list of wiring tips like this for retrofitting vehicles very massive, but you seem to know your way around summarizing information concisely. Really impressed with this one. I look forward to keep seeing videos from you on general problems you've solved, like this one was in many ways.

@TacoJoe Now that you've done this to the Vette are you going convert the Cobra to EFI? I think when I learned carburetors as a mechanic (Mid 90s), we were some of the last generation of Mechanics getting formal hands on training for carburetion. I like the idea of a simple carb setup but worry I will get frustrated with it, for the reasons you have mentioned in the video.

You can do it! / the external pumps are decent, but in-tank typically is better if you have access. I have another car with an external Carter pump and it works great/no starvation issues -but- it's only 8-10pcs. If you go external, try and go brushless if you can / they last longer. The kit distributor controls timing - basically there is a long flat that covers 50-60degs of sweep and the ecu picks advance based on vacuum/fuel/o2 readings, etc - thanks for the comment

Great video. I wish it was more detailed, but I just like nerdy details. The exhaust system sounds great, what mufflers are you using?
@TacoJoe Жыл бұрын
The mufflers are OEM replacement type (typical baffled w/insulation) - Flo-masters are the way to go though. I actually had some home made echo cans on a Chevelle I once owned - basically they were 2 steel boxes with 2 v-baffles welded in-line - sounded EXCELLENT and were back-fire proof. Hey Taco Joe, Very nice job on the wiring. Three years ago I installed a fitech on my C3, I've had nothing but problems. One of my problems I had was hood fitment and now I want to change over to this system pro Flo 4. Did you have any fitment issues with your hood? I've been comparing which Holley EFI to get, but it's nice to see someone using the Edelbrock EFI. Can you tell me a little more about your fuel system? Did you modify a new c3 gas tank or an EFI tank already providing baffle and holes for fuel pump assembly etc? what fuel pump assembly bracket and fuel sender did you use? Thank you! Great video w shots of the Corvette. Job well done!
@TacoJoe Жыл бұрын
Hi Jim- I purchased a tank from Tanks Inc and a walbro 250 lph pump from summit. The tanks are nice and have baffles around the pump. I bought the sender from Tanks Inc too - its a nice setup and my only gripe is the sender float area is limited with the C3 specific tank -thus- when you get to 1/4 tank you can drop to 1/8" 10 miles later -lol. Check out their website / lots of specific kits for classic cars and good luck with your build!
@swooshdave2 жыл бұрын
In the beginning you said the kit includes everything, but then the rest of the video is the things you needed to add. Unless you get the kit that includes the fuel sump then you have to plan on a high pressure pump and feed. I wasn't clear on what all of the relays you had were for.
