Stripped the bolt inside truck bracket ): now what should I do
@A690-s2r6 ай бұрын
Retap it with new threads did you?

What the strength rating on these? Some folks are saying they are dangerous
@JamesReedy Жыл бұрын
There’s no f’ing way they can handle the same forces that massive cast hook with two huge bolts can. The other loop is welded directly to the crossmember on the right side. My gut says fashion accessory, not dependable recovery point.

Yeah. I’m going to keep my original parts just in case I ever need to remove the brackets.

Thanks for the tip. I'm getting mine in a few days. Now I know what to look out for.

Red loctite or epoxy as long as you have strap hooks or cable hooks so you don't have to unscrew them

Are the brackets rated? The mounting of them seems a bit weak.

I use a crescent wrench and torque the down pretty tight, if their going to get stolen they will need a tool, if they want them bad enough they will get them no matter what you do, just remember to keep that crescent wrench on hand when you need them

Can you tell me about spacers? What type? Size? Etc....no mechanically inclined

So what did you do with the extra 2 bolts on the passenger side

Would love to know if those demon brackets are engineered recovery points where you could use a snatch rope or snatch strap to pull the vehicle out? I love the clips for the D shackles as I’ve lost a few of those driving down rough or washboard roads as they tend to rattle loose and unscrew you pull up to your destination realizing they’re gone so will be nice if that little clip works and you no longer lose them. Looks really good however for me personally I’m trying to move away from any kind of metal in my recovery gear. I still have a few metal shackles but mostly switched over to soft shackles.

I would use them for easy pull or tow and be ok with them being able to do that. Any recovery use and go ARB for a recovery point.

Installed. Now how do ai lock them or they just easy to get stolen lol

Any pull test?
@eyeofbass Жыл бұрын
Could add epoxy to the threaded end to inhibit theft. Yeah, kind of permanent but one needs to pick their poison.

Do notice a lot of noise coming from the shackles swinging back and forth at all?
@GearKnowHow3 жыл бұрын
They don’t tend to move around at all while driving with the spacers in place

Can’t hurt to put a little axle grease on the pins.

It’s the millimeter size of the holes and pegs weren’t the same size. Your bad
@tumbleweed0u8122 жыл бұрын
I bought these only a months ago and the powder coating is chipping off on the black brackets, I WOULD NOT recommend.
@GearKnowHow2 жыл бұрын
Really? Mine have held up fine and the shackles too.

Only good for tiedowns. Never pull with these decorations.

LOL - they are rated for 41,000 lbs
@ashesdrivered2 жыл бұрын
@@scottvamp So at least they will remain intact as the Tacoma's subframe tears away from the truck in a recovery. It would be a different story if there was a connection to the frame rails. They could be rated for 80,000 but it wouldn't matter if they were mounted to lightweight tubing.

@@scottvamp Proof?
@ashesdrivered2 жыл бұрын
Just look at the Tacoma frame parts diagrams. The sub frame is NOT the same as the frame rails.

@@ashesdrivered exactly, I have the Apex overlands which are much better and I wouldn't do any crazy shit with those...I got them because they look cool
