Yea I have been waiting on this from you as well Mike. This is the way us KTM lovers in florida and North Georgia feel. Big car companys do this, often more than once. I love my 350exc and my little 390 adv, and will have a 500exc soon. Thanks for the opinion.. Keep up the good work out there and we will continue to support you. 🏁🏁🏁

Dealers in CT/MASS area must have missed the memo as their prices are still almost full MSRP. They show the prices marked down then add shipping,setup & doc fees…MSRP

I bought a new 350 EXC in Mass over the holidays for about $4200 off. Lots of deals, you just need to look around. The rebates on the 24's are now gone though as of the 1st of the year.

Pierer group is the GM of Austria. Think of all the suppliers too, some are within PMG but WP, Pankl, Elko, Kokusan, NGK, Brembo, Domino, FAR, Acerbis, and Gregor.

I worked as a tech at a KTM dealer and it was always tons of warranty on customers brand new bikes which is why I've always stuck with Honda. Also the girls upstairs said it was extremely difficult to get them to actually pay for the warranty work which is why we literally wouldn't touch the bike until we had approval which really pissed customers off.

Count me in as one who got a great deal on a Gas Gas ES500. Love the bike! I also spent a lot of cash with many aftermarket companies, including Taco Moto. Money well spent. Now just waiting for your coming fuel pump system for the funky gas tanks. Nice to hear your take on the whole KTM problem. Thanks!

The thing is that anyone who is business-minded should be disgusted by what the leadership of KTM has done. And we should shun them, stop buying the brand in America until they reach a state of having to sell off brands and go back to focusing on quality. I will personally never own another KTM and that means KTMS Husqvarna KTM is gas gas KTM is anything else I'll support sharco, beta, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki.

Wait until February to buy. There's a KTM creditor's committee meeting on January 25th. Most likely, creditors will force the liquidation of the inventory to raise cash.

I plan to wait much longer than that. It's too soon for me to feel comfortable spending money with KTM and its other brands at this time. I will let other people give KTM whatever money they want in my stead.

@@terrarecon also a very sensible perspective as whoever buys one is making a bet the company survives. I also think it depends what you buy. I'd be much more worried buying a street or supersport bike than a dirt bike where they're arguable the market leader

Too big to fail? Where have I heard that before? The defaulted debt is probably bigger than the value of the business. It is difficult to see the case for another company being keen about taking on those liabilities. The only way for the business not to accept bankruptcy is to persuade creditors to accept a small fraction of what they are owed. However, that is not the end of it, because it is likely there are further debts which are yet to fall due. In any case, any potential customers now know that there is so much unsold stock that they are entitled to expect ‘rock-bottom’ prices. This will further depress any valuation of company assets. I think KTM may very well be ‘done for’.

Already bought, picking up tomorrow...Brand new '23 890 R for 40% off...Couldn't talk a tech pack in on the deal, which stinks, but they did offer me a 3 year warranty for no fee. I am going to run the demo mode out and see if any KTM offers / deals are floating around on the tech pack and a few other power parts...parts? I have seen with me own eyes Duke 390s for less then a price of a grom too, if anyone is looking to get into biking. Sadly the 390 Adventure haven't seen any screaming deals on those yet.

Maybe they need someone to take over KTM as I have along with 1,000's and 1,000's of KTM owners had to deal with bikes that seized, broke and never ran properly. I had to spend a lot of my own money to get it to where it is now.

I don't care of the resale value of the KTMs in my corral. I own them to ride and enjoy where they take me! We #bleedorange in our Basecamp. We have faith in #ktm . Thank you for your positive impact and update on our brand!

They did this to themselves, the quality control on the 2024 bikes is terrible. Mine had multiple issues right from the factory. Pathetic for $14k.

Yeah I highly doubt that KTM’s reliability issues are what’s led to this situation. Certainly, I don’t think it’s helped things, but I think the issue is much more complex than some nagging reliability issues. Just my two cents.

Excess production rates most likely contributed to the quality issues. Quality control is definitely an area where KTM needs to improve.

I haven't had any issues with my 24 500 EXC-F yet, but I've also not had any time on it, and for $14k, yes, I will be less than ecstatic if anything comes up for sure...

@ - my EXC-F and Husky equivalents were always solid and issue free. I think the street bikes in particular are where much of the quality concerns have been reported, i.e. the 790/890 cam issue.

Trumps crazy tariff policies will make things worse for US consumers, including KTM buyers. Here in Australia there are masses of dirt bikes sitting unsold. There are predictions of one or two interest rate cuts this year and this will kickstart discretionary buying, which largely includes dirt bikes. The pity is that sellers are still stuck on Covid era high prices but the market won’t cop that.

IMPROVED KTM part lead times would be the biggest improvement for OEM parts. The lead times 2 years ago in my experience was absurd.

Thank you. I had commented on several channels that KTM isn't going anywhere but now someone that knows more than the average rider has backed me up. Part of the issue of the current inventory is the entry of the Euro 5 +, so all the bikes produced Euro 5 certified cannot be registered in EU in 2025.

What, are you drunk? Saying the aftermarket companies will not be effected by this is preposterous. I know I am not bolting on a bunch of aftermarket goodies on my new machine knowing I will not keep it for long and knowing the used market is going to take a massive dive because the dealers are blowing out new models with massive discounts. This will hurt some other players in the world down stream of KTM.

I can't see KTM surviving as they are now, they will probably have to cut back a fair bit on models maybe even brands, their stock is about 10% of their debt which makes me think they are in trouble ? I can't see it affecting after market companies, but i can see possible issues with what i would call niche type model parts.

Be good a 300 but dont count out the fact you may live in a Hard Enduro bubble , millions of Enduro and Motocross bikes sold every year . Hard enduro looks like a viable option financially but will only take sales off of the Enduro 4ts . Game over for 300 market if a Japenese manufacturer did a 300 2t for sure .

Your analogy GM, Chrysler didn't go out of business, therefore KTM won't, is questionable... GM has 160,000 employees, KTM had 6000 in 2022. Fewer now. KTM is $3,000,000,000 in debt. Thats massive for a relatively small company.

I always thought it was bizarre (not in a good way) that KTM offered a huge range of bikes in each category in 50 cc increments and then sold the same bikes as KTM, Husquvarna, and Gas Gas. In trying to capture every micro-niche in the marketplace, they increased their overhead cost for each of their products and mostly competed with themselves. I also don't like orange. 😀

I bought a new 2024 150 xc w and I absolutely love this bike. Love it! I'm 60 and have owned many different brands and types of dirt bikes and this KTM is awesome! I wish I had bought KTM years ago. I've owned all of them except Kawi. Never owned a Kawasaki. Not because I didn't like them, I just never bought one.

I've always looked at KTM being the Boutique European bike like TM and a few others Made With quality material from there country pay for what you get and supported their country but then after 2020 quality went down prices went up still didn't stop me buying a new one but just would have been good knowing the passion was there in the company to have high quality standards

Almost spot on. KTM has produced so many bikes that the need for parts will be profitable. So you should have no fear of owning a KTM or buying new if you have the cash. They are desperate, and good deals are to be had. What was glossed over is the one to two years before parts availability. IF they go under, new contacts or suppliers will cause the 1-2 year wait on parts. If KTM recovers, support delivery resumes once money and contacts are resolved.

You sound very confident in all your statements. And while I broadly share your opinion, I would be more cautious. If you read the limites documents which are available right from the court you'll see some quite tense negotiations and plans with ever more escalating, sometimes major steps. The survival of KTM is somewhat likely, but thr survival of both GasGas and Husqvarna are not. The least bad option would be if they're able to massively seperate these 3 brands from one another. The are stealing each others customers generate unnecessary overhead without targeting any larger of a customer group than KTM alone does. It's also interesting to think about a majority shareholder Bajaj. Will the quality stay the same? Does the "Made in Austria" sticker mean anything for the majority of potential KTM customers? How far will the quality drop if maybe a good portion of enduro bikes end up being made in India also? As you, Mike, I'd not be concerned, but I'd be thinking about the "What If" scenario. Never a bad idea to have plans beforehand. It's never bad to be broadening a companies catalogue. And you're already doing thta through your own parts and programs you offer. Good video, and I hope you're right about KTM not going away. But I would have to disagree with the "too big to fail" point. They are not at all like a major car company (e.g., Ford, Toyota, GM). The products they build are not widely needed for a functioning economy, but rather are essentially "toys" for a tiny subset of the population with an interest in motorcycles and disposable income to pursue that interest.

KTM isn’t alone. A smaller, but direct Dual Sport competitor is affected by KTM s rebate pricing. In order to be competitive in the slower market, they dropped rebates on the buying public. I bought one. Lots of positives, and some negatives too. I’ve been on the EXE Performance page from the early days. Believe me, when it comes to a knowledge base. There’s nothing on the planet that compares to TACO MOTO

When companies fail to service their existing customers and are always chasing new customers soon they have neither. When parts aren't available and you find that you can't use the bike you already own for weeks during peak riding season you start looking else where when thinking of a new bike. And the arrogant bro show at my local KTM dealer lead me to another bike shop ran by a family who break their backs making sure they serve their customers. They are a Beta dealer and chances are...

I´m curious to see what they do. I thought they made a mistake getting into Motogp and the big street bikes. They lost focus of what they really did well. I just wonder if it's possible to sell enough big bikes to ever make that profitable. They apparently are going to exit Motogp after 2026. So we'll see how they manage the lineup.

I believe in KTMs future, but do think it might look differently with the family of brands. Even so, I just bought a GasGas EC300 for $7300 OTD after fees and all. Anyone thinking of a new KTM would be a fool not to buy right now.

They definitely spread themselves too thin. I’ll never understand throwing Gas Gas into the mix, especially in MX and MotoGP. KTM was already competing against itself with Husky, why add GG. Husky at least made some sense, but GG was completely unnecessary to me. KTM had carved out such a great place in the market for itself. It’s such a shame they mismanaged it and became too big for their own good.

I'm concerned about warranty issues with my Norden 901. I've been denied in regards to missing tank bushings and cross threaded bolts that broke off installing OEM accessories. Both I had to pay out of pocket weeks after buying.

I don’t think KTM is going anywhere, however, I am glad I have an older model 990 and I just traded in my 500 2019 for a beta, my thinking on the dirt bikes things are gonna get cheaper as far as metalS being used, etc., they have to cut costs. They just bit off more than they could chew and of course the BS with Covid hurt them.

Well. I have two KTMs. One is a 2002 520exc...the other is an 06 450exc dual sport. Both bought new. I have flogged them both, and both have been the definition of reliable. I rode Hondas for years before going orange. No regrets at all. Maybe I have been lucky??? I have several riding buddies that have KTMs of a similar vintage, with the same results. I wonder if KTM has either focused too much on building too many different vehicles, for too many different people. Meaning cars, e bikes, street bikes etc and lost sight of what they did best, and earned them their good reputation. Greed and blind ambition has been the downfall of many. Maybe KTM will be forced to take several steps back, lick thier wounds, and realize that they had it right, years ago, and just go back to building high quality, reliable dirt bikes. We shall see if cooler heads prevail. Usually does.

I'd like to create a 2 wheel urban assault vehicle. Buy a Race Ready (TM) KTM dual sport for pennies on the dollar, remove the cheese cam engine, install inexpensive LiFePO4 batteries from Amazon, an electric motor and motor controller, belt drive, a universal electronic dash intended for modernizing older dual sport bikes, and (this is the important part) replace all of the orange with black. Black is the new orange.

Appreciate your thoughts but you are missing a bit. KTM suppliers are being asked to take a 70% haircut on what is owed to them. Theres at least 1600 suppliers owed, many with 6 digit amounts outstanding. Would you as suppliers work with them again? The 160000 units outstanding are an asset. Therefore encumbered by the insolvency. KTM is competing to get capital on a worldwide scale. Would you buy t bills or ktm debt? Expect surprises.

Gasgas, and Husqvarna are going away. Sold or otherwise. They are essentially 3 identical bikes. They will wind up making their bikes under one brand. Less risk of overstock. They don't have that luxury anymore. Gasgas makes an excellent trials bike, and hopefully they will get bought and continue down that path. Husqvarna? Only time will tell. Pierre Mobility has run that company into the ground, and they deserve to lose it.

I just wish Japan would take the hint and start pushing performance and innovation again. They got the reliability thing down pat. But their bikes are getting so stale and boring. After 20 years Suzuki finally announced the new DRZ400 and it's basically the same bike with fuel injection. Yawn...
