I was never a huge fan of Bill Burr's standup, but I always liked him as a personality. He was funny and witty and made sense. Suddenly around the time he got a Netflix show and a spot on a Disney show he changed. He took sides against his own friends, took part in cancel culture, and of course he plays favorites racially. Bill Burr sold out, he needs to keep his image right to appease the streaming networks.

That Philadelphia incident which at least for me was how i discovered Burr and I'm willing to bet that much of the early fanbase came to Burr happened on a Virus tour. I'm not saying that Ant contributed directly to Burr's fame. But indirectly he definitely did. In a big way. Ant and Burr didn't see eye to eye on much even before all this shitshow. They had their bashings on the show. You could see that these 2 swords couldn't be fit in 1 sheathe. But how Burr has negotiated this rocky relationship is completely unlikeable for me. Burr should know that Ant is not some small time jock. Ant is someone you respect especially if you came up together. I'm team Tony Two Shirts on this.

I disagree. You have to remember: when Patrice was alive, Ant's rhetoric was used for self-effacing humor and irony. He now is a preachy political propagandist type at times. He eventually realized that no Conservative benefactor is going to slip him dark money due to his pedophilic tendencies and he gave up on that angle, but sometimes he sounded like Mike Huckabee... it was sad. Either way, his racism is far more serious and intense now. I believe Patrice would probably not condone him attacking Bill's wife and implying he only married her to humiliate his family. He did let Ant slide with stuff, but he also depended on his platform to promote his own brand, so you cannot discount that power dynamic. If Patrice were alive today and Bill were dead, people would be worshipping Bill and calling Patrice a sellout for not sticking with Ant after his fall to irrelevancy, I bet.
