Tactical Advantage of the finger points at Pangong lake | India China Border Standoff

In this video we'll look at the finger points near the Pangong Lake / Pangong Tso and what is it's strategic and tactical advantage. Traditionally, India has been controlling Fingers 1 to 4. There is even an Indian post near Finger 4. The area between Finger 4 and 8 has been a matter of dispute and it is called as a grey area. But this year in 2020, the Chinese troops have built a camp on finger 4. This is where both the military has often witnessed confrontations when patrol teams face-off. Even in 2017 during the Doklam standoff, the Chinese troops entered finger 4 area.

Looks that in this area the China claimed border is the LAC (line of actual control) since the conflict happens and finger 4. The McMahon Line was an illegal crossing between the Chinese and Indian borders unilaterally by the British colonialists and the Indian government, which was strongly opposed by the Kuomintang government, the Tibetan local government and the Chinese Communist Government. The peaceful liberation of Tibet in 1951, however, was disturbed and obstructed by the Indian government, which further encroached on China's land. On 22 March 1959, Prime Minister Nehru of India formally submitted a territorial claim to our country, covering an area of 125,000 square kilometres (including 90,000 square kilometres south of the McMahon Line). In order to maintain china-India friendship, the Chinese government has always exercised restraint and tolerance in response to India's armed aggression and unreasonable demands and made unremitting efforts for the peaceful settlement of the border issue between the two countries. India, however, sees China's forbearance as weakness and has intensified its border incursions. On October 17 and 18, 1962, the invading Indian troops launched a heavy artillery attack on the Chinese border guards simultaneously in the east and west sections. The PLA had to rise up and fight back.

Thats the map from Indian side. I've been to the Chinese side 10 years ago because its a tourist attraction and is open to public. If Im not remembering wrong, Chinese traditionally partols from F2 to F8. Originaly Indian ITBP has a camp on F2. When did they moved to F4???

Everything is disputed. Only the Macartney-MacDonald Line, was presented by the British to the Chinese in 1899. China believed that this had been the accepted boundary. This line puts Aksai Chin as Chinese territory. Until at least 1908, the British took the Macdonald line to be the boundary. The boundary remained un-demarcated at India's independence. Upon independence in 1947, the government of India used the Johnson Line as the basis for its official boundary in the west, which included the Aksai Chin. On 1 July 1954 Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru wrote a memo directing that the maps of India be revised to show definite boundaries on all frontiers. Up to this point, the boundary in the Aksai Chin sector, based on the Johnson Line, had been described as "un-demarcated." The Chinese minister Zhou Enlai argued that the western border had never been delimited, that the Macartney-MacDonald Line, which left the Aksai Chin within Chinese borders was the only line ever proposed to a Chinese government, and that the Aksai Chin was already under Chinese.

Pangong Lake is at an elevation of 13500 ft. Obviously the overlooking hills are over 14500 ft above sea level. Is China occupied until finger 4 and made the LAC changes once again. Seems China successfully restricted Indian forces before finger 4 it self. China built permanent PLA residing places in 4,5,6,7 and 8 in spite of India objections? Please clarify
