Great vid! It was difficult for Turkey to do much on the counter in this game, as Italy’s width forced their wide attackers to stay deep, knowing they couldn’t allow space between the lines. It seemed they tried to be more aggressive in the second half to have a chance at countering, but that left Barella too much space to operate.

Italy totally drill through our left side. We conceded 2 goals thanks to Barella-Berardi connection on the right half space. Umut Meraş and Hakan Çalhanoğlu on the left side against this duo was a suicide. Mert Müldür is a RB/CB but could have done better against Berardi and Barella if Şenol Güneş put him on the left side, alongside a defensive midfielder such as Dorukhan Toköz or Taylan Antalyalı. Also you can't find goal chances against İtaly via high balls, this was a useless strategy too.

This was a impressed modern interpretation of "Catenaccio ". The Team move as one Unit. The passing Skills was fast, Accurate and very Focus. The Turkisch Team was trying get the italian involved into a open fight, but the italians outsmart them. i was wondering how they keep the pressure for over 90 min. Very fit Team. You can see it, italian Team this time, no yellow cards and not much holding, for a italian team very fair. I'm not a big fan of italian playing style (but i like it), if this i called "Offense Catenaccio" works against Top Five Teams, than the italians are one to take the European Crown. The only deficit i saw in the italian team was the weak shooting from beyond the Opponent Box. If they have someone who really scores from the middle distance Oh Oh.

@ismxil patnino way that berardi is better than chiesa, he always played as a right wing while chiesa played most times wide in the flank in a 4-4-2, and also berardi scored quite a bit of penalties and free kicks, Berardi is also the key player around which sassuolo plays so it’s different, he’s basically the finisher of his team…

Giving Florenzi a CB role could've been suicidal due to his height (or rather, lack of it), Yilmaz and/or Yazici could've easily won aerial duels against him. So Mancini made an early change, subbing him off and bringing in a much taller Di Lorenzo. I'm sure FMS saw it too, despite the fact that he kept saying Florenzi's name......it's ok, shit happens...

I don't think there is such a thing as any formation being (of the common ones that everybody knows) better or worse than any other. What's important is the team's manager approaching any game of football with a clear plan, conviction in that plan and why it is to be used on that day, and the ability to communicate it to their team so they can execute it well enough.

italy plays defense really high compared to how slow their center backs are, thhey were counting on defending and sneakking a counter. thing is, they were so remissive that this helped italy immensely, because they barely sued any energies at all while in possession and were able to press like crazy when they had to recover bal or fold back...by the second half italy's players were already much more fresh than turkey's

Turkish players were under pressure from their fans, the coach made an effort not to concede and if you want defensive play, calhanoglu and yilmaz can't do it. The morale of the Turkish players was very low and they were afraid of Italy.

What i find most interesting about this video is that that Italy won 3 nil. But the XG was only 2.07 to 0.6 in Italy's favour. Another thing to note was that in the first half turkey were largely successful in sitting deep and defending Italy's waves of attacks and frustrating them. Second half was very different as Turkey lost their discipline, Italy's class overpowered them and Italy was able to score three goals often in opportunistic yet clinical fashion as we are quite used to with Italian football. If Italy only get 2.07 XG from this game it doesn't explain their true dominance. I don't understand what it even tells us about a football game or how it is used as a predictor for anything. I don't think it explains much about this match. To me it doesn't seem to take in the context, what's actually happening in a football match. The nature of how Italy got their goals today. also don't understand how turkey get 0.6 XG. They hardly had any threats on goal.

turkey helped italy a lot by refusing to actually play and being ok with just parking the bus and hping for a counter, that given how high italy's defense play and how slow chiellini and bonucci are was not a bad choice per se, but they went too fra and leaving italy play. to be honest i was not that impressed with italy...very slow and predicatble plays on the first half, a bit faster but still quite sloppy in the second half..they want to play tiki taka without having the kind of players that would allow them so...and the idea of using insigne as the main creator didn't really work. italy will do just fine against weaker oponents where thye can just control the play, but against bigger teams they either make their play more unpredictable and fast, or thhye will have troubles.

It's easy to praise everyone with such a positive outcome, but I think the front 3 were just as terrible as expected, and so was "apparently MOM" Spinnazola with zero useful plays as usual with all the space, freedom and possession he had until that stroke of luck that lead to the second goal. Insigne put on a show of selfishness and sloppiness, Berardi messed up every chance he got to gain some confidence, and Immobile was.. u know, Immobile, real Serie B stuff upfront. The midfield was immense and dominant, broke down Turkey's spirit time and again. I hope this team can go far and overcome its weaknesses, but also hope that Italy can produce some quality players upfront to turn this promising group into a truly terrifying side..
