Being just a reserve officer ,I got a pair of Maelstrom 8 inch waterproof tactical boots with side zips. Lightweight and comfortable. We don`t do everyday but I have almost 4 years and they have served me well.

In Russia our police officer's use tactical boots from Faradei company 816 model They are very comfortable. But personally I use lowa zephyr mid and they have a disadvantage - they are very slippery I want to buy UA valsetz

Oh yeah. Always remember any sort of mesh or fanciful stitching patterns are going to be weak points in the design and water protection of any footwear. Gore tex or not. Ultimately if you spend a lot of time on your feet, especially if you are really tall or heavy, you should probably consult a footwear store that will determine your arch type and exact size for each foot. Pay whatever you can afford to for the most comfortable supportive footwear you can. Its an investment in your long term health and ability to work.

I’m a CO and also in the police academy so I have two different pairs of boots. My UA boots ripped in the back last week so I’m down to just my Reebok’s. I love them so far. They shine great and are amazing on my feet. I think I’m going to buy the UA Tac loadout boots next and see what I think of them.

Was it the Valsetz that ripped? I know they had a common problem with that, but the tac loadouts look nice and they seem to be of better quality.

Are you required to wear boots that need to be shined? I like haix boots a lot. They are very strong and comfortable.

Haix rocks. Been wearing these as my last two purchased sets and have zero issues. Super comfortable and light.

The ATACs are some of the most comfortable boots I've ever wonrn in my 30 years! 2.0 side zip are amazing for the first 4 or 5 months. Tactical research is the worst boot ever created I think you got those reviews mixed up.

ATACs didn't look good in their breakdowns. I just remember they had decent ankle cushioning. I also don't like the Tactical Research as much. Currently I'm wearing Merrell MOAB.

5.11 atac storm boots are super nice. Their wide isnt really any more unfortunately but other than that their quality level for a non custom boot at 150 or less was pretty incredible. Very comfortable out of box and the non slip properties of whatever rubber compound they used on the soles is the best I've ever used. I bought my first pair about 9 years ago and they were amazing until the outsole completely wore through after roughly 5 years of foot patrols restaurant work yard work and even semi daily casual wear outside of work. The PU or polyurethane based midsole provided amazing support. The uppers were in good condition and the goretex remained totally waterproof until the soles fell off. I bought a new pair once the old ones died but the wide size was noticably smaller then so thankfully I changed jobs and did not need to wear them as much as my first pair. Other than the width the boots seemed identical to my first pair so I would assume the quality level would be roughly the same. I had some rocky alpha force boots, hi tec, altama, and timberlands that were this police style duty boot. The 511s were easily the best of those. If you do not have an extra wide foot the atac storms are totally worth the full price of around 150 dollars. Good luck out there people.

I have a few pairs of the ATAC Storm from 5.11. I always keep a clean set thats shined and ready to go for special events where we wear Class A Uniform. I have my regular set that I wear when I work thats also shined but not like POW!! annnnnnd we gotta keep a backup pair jusssst in case. Ex had a guy on my squad step in something that screamed ohhh no!! bro theres wipe stuck to that!! and the Sgt said no you are NOT getting back into the car with your boots on! He ended up throwing away his boots cause it was that gross! lololol

They say that they are the boots with the most technology on the market. I have also heard about the crispy SWAT evo gtx boots that are the most advanced. quality and comfort.

If you can get away with it, get Dr. Martens. I used dye and edge dressing to color out the yellow stitches.

Would it be fair to say that the public has ridiculous ideas of how a police officer should comport themselves especially in a dangerous situation ? Lots of people think of cops should whip out their pistol and heroically dispatch a criminal right there on the spot just like in a Hollywood movie. People see cops as action heroes that are 10 ft tall and bulletproof.

@@Justthatofficer I saw Reebok has "wide" which is usually "2E" width. Finding extra wide is a bit more difficult. I'm wearing Blauer Blitz 8'' waterproof boots which is wide, and it broke in nice, but the boots wire / ratchet system kind of sucks. It's loose where I don't want it and it's tight where I don't want it. I'm going to have to go to my departments uniform store and try some on in person.

@@superbri007 yeah I think going in person is your best bet. Does your department allow you to wear black athletic shoes? Might be easier to find that way, but you lose that ankle support. Let me know if you find a good pair so I can share with others in the future.
