My realistic top 3 for the job: Herve Renard- Proven track record at the international level, runs a tight a ship, and is probably a good option to take us through 2026 while more green prospects like Nancy have time to cook. Pellegrino Matarazzo- Good club track record, uniquely tied to both the US and Europe, has a practical play style to implement at the international level. Wilfried Nancy- Great man manager, has an entertaining attack-minded system, but lacks experience compared to other prospects.

Whoever you get you need to make it a lot tougher to break you guys down. Playing counter attacking football is your best bet at progressing in 2026. You don’t have the players to play open expansive football and it also doesn’t suit tournament football. Someone like Southgate would be a good shout.

Walid Regragui played for Morocco internationally and his only managing experience was for clubs in Morocco's domestic league. Actually, many Morocco pundits hated him being hired and called him Alvacado head. It'd be like calling Jermaine Jones managing the US a foreign coach.

21:10 The big news here, if we can believe it, is not that this name or that is a candidate. It’s that big-name coaches are reaching out with interest in coaching USMNT. That’s a very good sign that the team and the opportunity for ’26 are attractive.

--> Vieira's name is not French. It's Portuguese, from his mother's side of the family. His maternal grandfather was from Cape Verde, which was colonized by the Portuguese. Although he was born in Dakar, Senegal, he has French citizenship through a grandfather (I believe, paternal), who served in the French army. --> Honestly, I blame Tyler Adams as much as I blame Berhalter. If the team doctors allowed it, based on Tyler's input - and he's telling Gregg that he's good to go - then what's Berhalter supposed to do. If he doesn't play Tyler, I assure you that there'd be a quote out there from him saying he's fine to play. He knows he needs to fight for his spot now that Johnny's proven his worth.

Adams needs to get into a system where there is a double pivot. Almost all his injuries seem to be related to overexertion. He really can't sustain a career as a sole defensive mid and the workload that comes with that. Regarding Southgate, the main way to understand how bad a coach he is, is through the WC game against the US. If you're out-tacticed by GGG, you shouldn't have any business getting a prominent coaching job with USSF or elsewhere.

You’re being a tad harsh on Southgate. England had failed to qualify for a major tournament when he took over and he took the team to a wc semi and two consecutive Euro’s finals. The first time England have ever reached that stage. Yes he failed to go all the way, but he was far from a flop. He was always a defensive coach. I do however think his style would better suit the US as you don’t have the depth in quality and he’d make you a lot tougher to break down and he has plenty of experience of tournament football. The team needs to learn how to walk before it can run.

You're fit or your not. Especially when it's an intense tournament. Playing him on limited minutes was risking him. If he's not fit for a full match, then he's not fit. It's one thing if an injury is healed, but you can't keep you wind up for 90 minutes of running. It's another if the injury is not healed. Tyler should not have played. Certainly should not have been starting. You can't tell a competitor like that they can go out there and play, but they need to hold back. They will always be pushing themselves.

The "foreign coaches don't win" narrative is a blatant red herring. All winners have been nations that were already major contenders going in. Foreign coaches have made teams perform better than expected many times. The nations that have won the World Cup have always been Nations with historical soccer cultures, and who have developed to the point that the coaching is top-tier. We haven't developed that piece yet. We can develop players at this point, but it makes sense that coaching lags behind that. It takes longer to develop that piece.

Klinsman was absolutely the primary coach reason for the 2018 US WC debacle. When Klinsman was fired the US was bottom of the Hex. Klinsman was hired because Gulati had a man stiffy for Jurgen, at least so it seemed to me shortly before we hired Jurgen when I talked to Sunil at a USASA meeting.

The USA was the bottom of the hex when Klinsmann got fired but remember that was two games in out of ten where was their beloved savior Bruce Arena who was hired specifically due to his “expertise” to help save them from disaster but what did he do in the end…..nothing if anything he finished off by making them look bad if not worse. Mind you Arena knew a lot of the players given that they were the older guys so if he was even a decent coach he would at the very least been able to get them to qualify. It’s CONCACAF it’s not even the Asian Football Confederation these lazy spoiled players couldn’t even beat countries that are ranked at 50 and below😂🙄Klinsmann wasn’t the cause of the USA’s shortcomings it’s the bad football culture that the federation has allowed to manifest all these years. The US will continue to disappoint until this very issue gets addressed.

This is all Federation marketing. They'll show you a hundred different candidates then they'll hire a subpar coach who will do exactly as they say and which ever players they want. As long as the Federation is running the show we are doomed.

I love Wagner! I just think he and Hurzeler need more time to prove it to us. Great 2030 or 2034 options tho!!! I do think Vieira OR Nancy plus Henry coaching and mentoring forwards combo is a really good option!

lol no foreign manager has won a World Cup. that's a BS talking point through and through. Nations who won World Cups have great managers in those countries.

Klinsgmen was on a short leach because of his Donovan WC omission. The Federation was looking for any reason for payback.
