There's lots of talk on social media about the current need for body armor. Isn't it sad that we live in a word where you even have to THINK about such a thing? Well, I have LIVED in a world where we NEEDED to wear rifle rated body armor on the modern battlefield. Yes, it sucks. However, it is part of "playing the game" when you sign up for a military at war. Over my 25 years of military service, I have seen many changes in military gear, including Body Armor.
I love this safe Life Defense FRAS Armor. You know I'm long-winded. So, when we filmed this video, I talked for about 30 minutes about armor, it's requirements depending on the situation, and why this FRAS Armor is such a big deal. However, most monkeys only want to watch the "Pew Pew" shooting part of our videos. So, in this video, we cut out all the talking.
IF you want to see the whole "Extended Cut" of this video, you can click this link:

That is some great armor. Still a hurt factor, but to stop a .308 WIN, even a cup and core SP hunting round is no joke. I've done A LOT of barrier protection testing and hunting ammo, although not ideal fighting ammo, still shovels the coal. & at ? 50 feet. Wow. I've broken thru engine blocks, 3' oak trees, solid core cement, u name it, I've tested it to show classes that cover can almost always be defeated, so watch west you take it, stay back from it if possible, and if you're takin A LOTTA FIRE, MOVE!!! Personally, I use the breakdown technique. Round after round to the same P.O.I. will sooner or later defeat almost any cover you can expect to encounter... Mud joints are my fav secret. U can slip a pill thru them in 3-6 shots... Still, that armor is really good. Beats hell outta even 5 year old technology!!! Not bulky, flexible, multi hit capable... Up armor it??? There must be a way to get to LEVEL 4, that stops 7.62X51mm BLACK TIP/AP, & .30 M2 AP... & if it does that, it'll stop the other 30s, too, like 7.,62X39 steel core & 7.62X54mm AP(PKM LMG, etc.), .300 WIN MAG... And what happened to "DRAGON SKIN"??? I saw a test on that back before they had even marketed it, and it was INDESTRUCTIBLE!!! 4 30 Rd. mags from an AK @ 10', & not one penetration!!! Same with my Mk 18, & 4+ mags of M855 & Mk262 77 gr. steel core match FMJ... NADA... We did defeat it with 5.56X45mm M855 "green tip" 62gr. PENETRATOR. How? By laying the N GEL DUMMY DOWN PRONE AND PUTTING A 6 O'CLOCK SNEAK AND MAG DUMP INTO IT@ 25-50 feet... The slugs went UNDER THE SCALES, blew many off, and shredded thru the soft inner liner of kevlar(?)... It could happen... Still, FS WORKED, but it disappeared so fast? Pray tell WHY??? THANKS FOR THE SHOW...

Some things never change. Speed kills armor. But that is remarkable performance for a level 3 whatever. I hated em but still would want a plate to dissipate energy over larger area. Even better test their body armor before they get chance to try yours. Great video. Scott’s good fella. Those 2 new military rounds are totally badass.

Karl brings out the Barrett, Scott comes in with the flamethrower. Karl brings out an Abrams, Scott comes in with a Howitzer. Karl brings out a nuke.... "I would like to see you beat this" says Karl. Scott points up into the sky. "That ain't no moon, buddy. That's a space station!" And as a very bright green light comes crashing into the Safelight vest, Karl just grins ear to ear, shakes Scotts hand, and quietly contemplates a new way to one up Scott in his next crossover video. I love watching this one. One of my deep personal favorites from TR!

The advertising for IIIA+ Side Armor Panels 6" x 8" is very misleading. I purchased 2 sets and all 4 panels measured 4"5/8 x 7"1/4. The weight on Safe Life Defense website says 0.5 pounds for a set. The actual weight is 13.1 ounces for cut down versions of what they advertise as there 15% more coverage.

Wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that but at least it didn't go thru. However on hits directly over the heart may shock the heart into stopping or you may bleed to death from the internal bleeding from the bruise. I'm impressed with this vest.
