While football developed a lot between 1930 and 1950, it was still largely unrecognisable from the game we see today. Between 1954 and 1966, however, the game changed and morphed into a more familiar form with the development of the back four.

One thing you failed to mention in Brazil's 1958 and 1962 side is: Zagallo played the wide left in a somewhat defensive role and Nilton Santos, the left back looked for the overlap. This is specially true on 1962, as in 1958 Nilton Santos was still expected to play a defensive left back, but to the desperation of Brazil's manager, Vicente Feola, went forward dribbling when Feola, famously shouted in desperation: "GET BACK NILTON! GET BACK" as he went forward with the ball and scoring a goal, walking back to his position being congratulated by his manager. They did that because they played on the same team, Botafogo and were used to make this move at club level.

He was not better than pele I'm a lifelong Selecao fan. Many people also says Neymar better than messi & ronaldo A lot of people says ronaldinho was better than messi. Its the same case here. Garrincha was the best dribbler ever possibly. But his overall game was very much limited compared to Pele. He was one dimensional . Used to dribble a lot. Pele was the complete package

@@manasbaruah6123 Absolutely lie. That team was very good . Nilton Santos , Djalma santos these two are the best ever fullbacks pairing ever of Brazil and the world. There was midfielder like Zito who was very good.

I honestly don't know a living soul that thinks that. Don't get me wrong: we adore Garrincha. He didn't win the Cup solo, nor did Pelé ever; you simply just don't do that. If it was possible, it wouldn't be the tournament we know as the ultimate glory in football. But Pelé is a unanimity. You may like other players better, preference is one thing, after all, but around here there's no contest on who's the best; he's "O Rei". I mean, Botafogo fans will tell you Mane's their favorite. I'm myself a Santos supporter, I have Pele's jerseys and he's my phone app hahahahah but if we're talking quality, he's the one player. And even globally, you can't leave him out of your top 3.

It is also part of the truth about "The miracle of Bern", that the same Hungarian team just two weeks before the final had beaten the West German side by 8-3 (!) in their group match. For many people even today is suspicious what could happen in the half-time, after Hungary leading by 2-0. By the way, dear uMAXit Football, you probably are the best football channel ever on KZbin. Keep up the good work, you are amazing!

I know that the trainer has rested some players for certain matches or basically played a B-team most of the time against weaker opponents or if needed. In the 8-2 the B-side probably played, so some players could rest. That was one of his strategies.
@zero94m
@zero94m 2 жыл бұрын
It was 2-2 after the first half, not 2-0. And it wasn't the same German side as in the group match. Actually it was coach Herberger's plan, to give Hungary a false impression of his team and so he rested 6 or 7 players of his starting line-up.

I was hoping you mention and further detail Pele going down early in the 62 campaign and Garrincha almost individually carrying Brazil to a World Cup win. A feat only accomplished by one other, Maradona in 86. I was hoping you would showcase the tactical adjustments Brazil made upon Pele's injury, and the additional responsibility Garrincha carried not only as a mercurial dribbler and creator but also as a goal scorer. Also missing was a mention regarding legends of the game such as Nilton and Djelma Santos who helped revolutionize the fullback position tactically in not only thee defensive prowess but also in their devastating attacking and counter attacking capabilities. A proud tradition that inspired future Brazil legends like Carlos Alberto, Roberto Carlos and Dani Alves.

kulurohera it's a actually a lie spread around by Pele haters. That 1962 squad had 3 key players, Didi, Amarildo(Pele's replacement) and Garrincha. So Garrincha did not singlehandedly win 1962 WC as some would have you believe.

Englands tactic also included changing the semi-final place at last minute and preventing the other team from resting properlly not to get thrashed by Eusebio. That was a very good tactic.

Excellent video lads! it is pretty curious to see how that tactics were so volatile at the time, and in each 4 years they were always changing and evolving to completely different systems. Also, congrats for the very good detail in referring how England (tried to) nullify Eusébio in 66. It was actually the major of that Portuguese team at the time. #umaxitgiveaway1 (ps: In Portugal the “ponta de lança“ (that translates to “head of the spear”) is not actualy a deep lying forward, it is the opposite, is a forward that plays as a target man for his team in the front of the attack (like Zlatan or Higuain). A forward that drops down and have the freedom to roam on the pich (like Griezman or Mbappé or Dybala) is more commonly referred as “2º Avançado” (2nd forward) ps2: Also, in the Portuguese language, the letter “c” when is turned into “ç” changes is sound. Instead of sounding like a “k” in the word “keys”, sounds like a “c” in the word “lance”).

the changes in the magyars tactics been normal . the path to the final still not been dugged out. losing a game been always possible, be it first match or the final, but, the unexplainable, been not dugged out yet. the players fight vs Samba, some players been red carded, why !!! then played extra time Vs albiceleste. all the tournament accumulated facts will answer why Magyars side felt heavy leg probably tired leg in the final. it's similar to stressing your opponent prior to the game, using external tools, sporty ones, but the intention been deeply psychological !!
