Oooh, thanks for this guide. I happen to accidentally got a level 36 team already at Union Level 32 and haven't even started going to Barnicia. I did Pirates Graveyard, recruited a couple of 33s and 34s. Then went towards POTD, did the Occione side quest (she didn't join because she hates me). Then POTD until the Nybeth fight on level 5. Then I saw a few more Warren Report talk entries and fought the Galgastan remnants at Lhazan, they were conveniently at Level 36. Managed to recruit two Knights and a Witch Could have had another unit when I had Josephine and one of her last Warlocks cornered; Warlock didn't want to join and instead committed suicide by Cerya by whacking her on the head with his book. Then did a Phorampa run where I got a handful more of lv 36 units including a zombie Knight, zombie hawkman Rune Fencer and two Zombie Octopi. And yes I noticed that the difference in level matters less now. Fought the level 36 Galgastan remnants with my level 32 team and they didn't have too much trouble. At that point the relative stat differences seem minor.

Fusil is the easiest meaningful side quest Shrines is the most bang for buck Recruiting level 50 units and cheesing pre-time travel PotD is the least difficult(not necessarily quickest or best) way to grind stats. Azelstan is the nicest story side quest Necromancer is the hardest side quest, and requires chaos route.

It's why I left out Cressida and just recommended getting random necromancers in the temples. Her sidequest is utter insanity for newer players.

I recommend getting Lindl first run no matter what because crit-shooting Templars off of the Hanging Gardens is peak comedy.

To get Diego you just need a couple of griffons with Dash and one or two mending essence each. Some gave me that tip and it was life changing after seeing him die over and over.

Yup, that's my preferred method too. The issue isn't his fight as much as remembering where the triggers are. It's not something I'd recommend for new folks just because it can lead to a constant FOMO paranoia instead of a wonder of what's out there.

@@CoffeePotato random video idea, if it please ye, milord ? ~ could you maybe cover how to get the Dark Knight’s unique weapons to drop (in Reborn) ? In PSP you had to be at …lvl-33 or such, so basically in World mode replaying the routes / story battles, to see them with their Sanscion, Rose Whip, etc… but it seems different in Reborn. My Neutral Oz (Boed / Cerya) saw him already with his Glamrock, but it didn’t drop after slaying him. Are they still needing you to clear a route first, and get them in World - or do we have to go all the way to Coda-4 Finale , etc etc ? Look forward to your expanded thoughts on this interesting topic ! 🙏

Big asterisk next to the "only Liches can exorcise / banish your undead units" when autobattling with a zombie party. There are several Clerics with banish, as well as Pumpkinheads with moves that can permanently get rid of your undead units. In the first 25 floors, I would estimate that ~20% are floors which have enemy units that can terminate your undead units. My own rule of thumb has been to check the "No units incapacitated" bonus Term of Victory after each battle, as well as checking my total unit numbers to see that I didn't lose anyone before moving on.

Yup, pumpkins too. That's a good rule of thumb to follow. Weird random note, in case I forget by the time I get to finishing up that AI POTD run, but you can do a weird thing where you recruit one of those higher level clerics, use them to exercise ghosts in the Feral Coast, which then gives you more exorcisms, despite them not being clerics. Also also, I think the drop tables are incomplete, because I've seen few to none of these exorcism drops showing up, at least last I checked.

I didn't think you could recruit any blue or purple-colored tier-II or tier-III, by default 2) Which exorcism spell are you referring to being dropped? I take it not just the regular old Exorcism that all Clerics can learn?

Steadfast doesn’t come until after 36 for most units, so I wouldn’t recommend much PotD until after Heim. Hell, even the Temples love those pits.

True, but zombies be replaceable. Also most folks will do it anyway, for fear of the game ending post hanging gardens. Usually the response is just "I want to get the most out of my only playthrough", so their mind is already decided.

Currently level 57 of potd, retreat farming relics all the way to 100, 6-7 of each of the weak ones, 20+ of the good ones. Definitely a pita grind, but it is nothing compared to the bloody cursed weapons. Those and their 4% can hack off. This is just post Heim btw.

If you don't get Azelstan when you are first able to, you will have to redo almost all of chapter 4. Getting him is not hard at all, it is just long. It also gives you buccaneer, which is by far Denam's best class until lord. Please don't skip it like this dude says to.

It's also tedious, and many new folks are already overwhelmed. You basically get Lord at the same time, or can make any other class work, they're within a couple fights of each other.

Azelstan's Sidequest: opens as soon as CH4 begins. Has 3 parts to it. Note: If you're in Chaos route and going for Cressida, is important to avoid reading Cressida's quest until after story battle 10 (the fight with Lancelot/Catiua) as her quest has no time limit and if read early, it will take priority during Azelstan's quest part 2, and you might want that CF of the pirate treasure to recruit Cressida. (part 1-3): - Read the news "Port Omish, Den of Thieves" to trigger a battle in Port Omish. Must be cleared before story battle #3 at (Mount Hedon). (part 2-3): Available after the next two story battles (Mount Headon & Hagia Banhamuba - the fight with Sherri.) - Read the news about “The Pirate Graveyard”. - Enter the Pirate Graveyard and withdraw from the dungeon. No need to enter a battle. - Read the news about "The Dread Pirate", and go to Port Omish for a "story scene" with Diego (Azelstan). - Finally head to Qadriga Fortress for yet another story scene. (part 3-3): Available after the fight with Lancelot/Catiua (story battle 10). - Go to Port Omish for a battle (can be cleared any time before story Battle 15 - Heim Great Hall). After the battle, find Azelstan in the Pirates Graveyard (the 3rd level, Crystal Halls). Clear the battle and Select choice 1 to recruit him.

@@CoffeePotato Except that Lord is not guaranteed. If people think this game is tedious, they shouldn't be playing. By this point in the game most players could use a new class to try new things. And NO, if you skip Buccaneer, it's not a couple fights, its dozens.

I figured you would know this better than anyone.... when you're trying to acquire the special Dragon Tamar and her pet dragon is there any benefit to taking the time to have the items on hand to restore the villagers on the outside of the map into humans from zombies? And, what about the dragons on the map beforehand that belonged to her? Have you ever tried to make them non zombie dragons? Do they attack the enemy at that point or join you?

@@robd6837 While I haven't tested that particular interaction, I can say with certainty that it wouldn't work that way due to exorcism, but you can tame either version for the same result. There's technically a very tiny impact on Chaos Frame depending on who does the deed for the zombies, but you'd have to be within a point or so for it to matter. Technically, it could, but only technically.

@@CoffeePotato I'm limited to playing the PSP one because I do own reborn but I don't have time at home. So I take the Vita on the road with me. I started a generic Tamar immediately and I have been acquiring dragons as the game progresses to make recruiting d e n e b easier. I've only auctioned off the dragons in her shop add purchased the orbs from her hopefully I didn't screw anything up because I had seven of the nine dragon types beginning at chapter 4 and sold them the first time I found her and purchased the orbs. Hoping the game keep track of it and I am looking to get those 30 glass pumpkins ASAP. I had considered removing the zombie status from the villagers and then even attempting to recruit them just for the heck of it but I didn't know if that would be even viable. I know Reborn you have to do the upgrade the Relic thing, but I'm thinking glass pumpkins on this one to get the special version of her witch class?

I'm on my first playthrough, on the Lord path it seems. I'm told that I'll need to redo stuff if I go back and get the Princess path. Should I just progress the main story to the end, then go back for the optional stuff, or try and get at least some of the better optional stuff first?

There's really no "best". If you want to experience this game at it's best, play with what you've got, and go in the direction you want to go. Going to the end is fine, just so you're aware....we shorthand it to Princess and Lord route, but in reality this game's endings are a collection of various bits and pieces from throughout your playthrough. Princess route just means that her ending is her ending, and she basically gets diplomatic cheat codes. Everyone else's endings are independent of hers, for the most part. Lord gets no such easy wins, and it will check your personal reputation with everyone to determine what that means. Whether you get shot in the face immediately, or everyone unifies, or you hold off an invasion for a bit before losing, or maybe Zenobia steps in, etc.

A guide on where/ how to get all the Apochropha spells and their different tiers would be helpful. Not seeing a lot of info on the internet going over the details on drop rates/ how to get the Tier 2 spells to drop.

Will add it to the list, though it's best handled by making a reliable AI Team, and sending them to carpet bomb the San Bronsa Ruins until magic falls out, and you handle something else.

You say that you need to zombify a cleric (whose element is Light) and then turn them into an archer in order to get an archer with the light element. Wouldn't it just be easier to use a Light Charm on a zombie unit?

Technically it would be Cleric->Charm->Arch->Zomb, but you can only change to some elements as some classes.

@@CoffeePotato Zombie knights and zombie valkyries can change their element to Light, so wouldn't it be easier to change their element to Light, then change their class to Archer? Skipping the Cleric step?

I have been following this, but wonder if I misunderstood. I am late in chapter 4 lawful route. I completed Palace of the Dead -- I was more than halfway through when I heard your recommendation to wait. I have Deneb as a Wicce. I have taken Heim. But I see nothing about the Shrines. Because of this guide, I clicked on Coritanae, and got a scene where I received the sword Lombardia, although the icon does not appear to move me to Coritanae. And when I go there, nothing happens. The only remaining red destinations on the map are Potd, Pirates Graveyard, Phorampa. And The Hanging Gardens, which I gather will end the main game. Nothing further to read in Warren Reports. But how to do these Shrines? I want those weapon upgrades to play with? :)

you forgot to mention magic time is exclusive to denbs wicca class,also i just have to say this as well the summons are the strongest magic in the game so those basic casters are just trash same for warlocks,if you need golembane you can just use denam lord class to get that ablity,patriarchs,matriarchs shamans and the princess class are the best damage casters thier is.

For "Undead AI grinding" PoD - won't you miss lots of drops due to so many enemies being undead themselves? Do you still get drop chances even if there are stilled undead when battle ends?

The last one, and once you get to the shop, you can zombify a Starfall Warlock to sort that out too. Most drops are on normal units, it's enough to get someone started without getting frustrated, I hope.
