Great video, 26 years in the field on the install side, all those parts used to confuse me but after watching your video i feel confident and doing conversion . Just moved from California to Indiana, not much need for conversion in CA but finding it's a good thing to know here in Indiana Thanks man!

@@TaddyDigest I have a question, can you use a 3 ton fau with a 2 ton condenser and coil? I live in Indiana and trying to help a friend, he has condenser and very old fau , he wants to buy new furnace and I want to get more air flow because his ducts are all screwed up and in the floor so can't really change them to correctly size everything. Trying hard to accommodate this but worried about enough air Thanks for your help!

Interesting on the orifice size. With my propane fired Rheem furnace, a couple years ago I noticed on the very cold days that the furnace was having trouble heating up the house sufficiently. All burners would light up, everything appeared normal, but the house was cold and the furnace was running constantly. Well, had a tech check it out and even he was a bit perplexed. Finally, he checked the orifices for the burners and noticed they were all somewhat gunked up!! Replaced them and the furnace finally started heating up the house like normal again. I'm guessing those very small openings in the orifices for LP gas is why they probably gunk up easier than the larger openings for natural gas?? I'd never heard of this happening to anyone who has natural gas for fuel.

Thanks for video, how would you toggle between hi and low fire to check pressures if you have a duel stage unit with the two valves and springes
@TaddyDigest3 ай бұрын
What brand is? It, it must be a commercial unit if it has 2 valves. I would just go from one valve to the other

great video ive done a bunch of servicing on these type of furnaces single stage, 2 stage and mod in the Gta (Greater toronto area) today I went up north to a propane furnace and noticed all my safeties shut and the HSI Lit up and I got my 24 volts to my gas valve opening it. I assumed it was a bad gas valve I changed the gas valve and re used the springs Im getting 11-12 w.c in but out with the set screw all the way clockwise only getting 6.5 w.c this is a 2 stage. Burners don't light i'm assuming its either a spring issue or the orfice or burners are dirty. Im going back tomorrow with a conversion kit also to confirm its the right spring and orfices to me it looked like the orfice was a natural gas orfice and the spring ill have to make sure its the right spring for propane i just assumed it was already set and swapped springs.

high chance this might be my problem. Could be possible someone left the original orifices in the burner. There's a sticker that says FP-36 kit was installed. But this furnace has burned hot since I have lived here. I'll clean the heck out of my A coil later today. If that doesn't work, I'll look at the burner. They used black iron pipe, so i'll have to take a union off to look at it.

We install a lot of 90% furnaces in crawlspaces in upstate South Carolina. It can be problematic with condensate pumps freezing right out the outlet.

You have a flex line running through the furnace cabinet. That not allowed in most places , it can run to buy not through the cabinet. It can get cut. It needs hard pipe.

It’s code in all of the US, it can be used outside or inside appliances but NOT thru. So in earthquake areas it’s a must per code.

At the beginning of this video you were talking about orifice size. With any fluid flow you are dealing with Bernoulli's Therm. If a fluid like gas or propane flows through an orifice the small the hole the less the pressure and the greater the velocity. Just some useless information.
