Tadej Pogačar's Anti-Cramp SHOT Has Finally Been EXPOSED
We all know doping has been a problem in cycling for the longest time, but over the years, teams have perfectly crafted some drinks that aren’t illegal, yet still give their riders the boost that they need. From Remco Evenepoel's red recovery bottle to Tadej Pogačar's Il Lombardia anti-cramp shot and carefully labeled bidons dispensed by every team car on every race, many have started wondering what in the world those drinks are, why cyclists are consuming them in such large quantities, and just how much do they actually enhance their performance?

He had sartorius cramps. Not the biggest issue as long as you reduce power by a little. Amazing the amount of facts that can be blended in with utter b.s. - luckily this video is slightly heavier on the facts than the b.s., but there's still a large amount of misleading information or imagery that is out of context. C'est la vie. It's the social media phenomenon of click bait.

When this drink happened everyone wanted to know what it is. There is actually a lot of research for cramps for when they happen, but why they happen no study can point out exactly. However there are some things that can reduce them and electrolytes or salt have basically no effect on cramps. One study compared usual methods to reduce cramps, what actually seemed to be effective: pickle juice, as used for decades and researchers wondered why. When i remember correctly they said its more or less because of the sour and spice that tricks our brain to feel pain and this releases some kind of hormones(?!) that have an effect on nerves and muscles, similar to an muscle relaxant drug.

So, is this an innocent "let's have a look into cycling stuff" kind of video, or is it, let say, a badly camouflaged add one?

I noticed now after the past year or so particularly when riding gravel that I’m getting my left hamstring cramping up now. And I felt some of it last Sunday doing a long 72 mile bike ride not racing trying to control myself but I wonder what I can do to remedy this or what’s going on ?

possibly an electrolyte imbalance, or low salt. Both of these can be corrected while on the bike through readily available supplements.

My drink while cycling goes like this basically is simple recipe in bottle of 750ml I put 1 teaspoon of unrefined non-iodized salt with a lemon and with not to cold water. But take into account that this is my taste, if you will try, try at the beginning with smaller dose of salt.

cramping on gravel bike but not on your race bike? Did you check saddle height, crank length, pedals and that kind of stuff. Even a slightly different saddle setback can cause a lot of trouble.

You need to try ketosis if you have never experienced that. It’s magical how quick you recover when you are in ketosis. However, it’s not optimal for high intensity workouts. That’s why they rather be drinking ketones and stick to their high carb diets; the best of both worlds I suppose. There is nothing too strange about ketones and one doesn’t need UCI’s recommendation to opt in for it!

I don't have a problem with riders using Ketones, they're no more of a doping drink than caffeine or protein isolate. My understanding of Pog's cramping drink is it's basically pickle juice. Dill Pickles are a miracle for settling an upset stomach and reducing cramping, especially if everything you've eaten is sweet. It sounds silly, but every high level athlete I've known uses them, and I personally swear by them.

I'm not a nutritional expert, but I did a Keto diet to improve blood sugar and found I could fast for 24-72 hours and as long as I was hydrated I never bonked on long rides while I was still fasting. Ketones were the primary source of human energy for 100,000 years. Not until the invention of agriculture did humans routinely burn carbs for energy. The exception might have been honey or the fruits during the short seasons they'd be available. I'm curious why pro's don't use a keto diet to train and possibly even race?

Ketones are the bodies natural fuel source. However, you have to train your body to utilize them. I’m guessing a lot of these teams train in either a fasted or low carb state and then introduce carbs or ketones on race day. That would have the added benefit of helping control weight. Ketones burn cleaner that sugar and are far easier on the body.
@mugsy5974
@mugsy5974 7 ай бұрын
It may burn cleaner but it takes more energy to burn than carbs. Not an ideal fuel source for any efforts above zone 2.
