Thanks mate. The bottom is glued because it's a closed wooden bottom. It doesn't need the acrylic, but it was meant to match something else that wasn't shown in the video :)

it would be nice if you could add custom markings to the keys this way. maybe you can add stickers before dying them and then remove them later. it might be difficult to find stickers that will not come off while they're in hot water. maybe vinyl stickers are usually very durable.

Hey Tae, I have a question, I have a razer blackwidow which broke, but all the keyswitches on it should still work, I may want to desolder the keyswitches and put them on another PCB, are there any cheap PCB's out there (preferably without numpad) which are any good(for gaming)?

KoutaSn id recommend going to r mechanicalkeyboards on reddit, pcbs like that maybe hard to find since it seems you are literally building a new keyboard. It would most likely involve making a new case for it and most importantly loading a custom firmware on the new board which will also most likely involves editing some of the firmware files.

No need, since it doesn't require protection. And it would ruin the feel :)

paint will just chip off over time and leave nasty residue not to mention its toxic to touch, dye literally changes the color of the plastic itself so even if scratched it wont show a different color underneath. unless you want to make a keyboard just to put on a plaque to look at I would use dye or screen print or native material over paint anyday

Putting them on a blank set such as these will be tough and probably not achievable, unless you invest in a few things as well as time. PBT keycaps that already have characters on them tend to be dark, so those can be dyed, and the characters will not change.

I assume it will work differently. But I don't really know, since I haven't tested it. The little clear plastic bit for the caps lock key is completely clear though, after the dyeing process.

You can use something soft like the green part of a kitchen sponge to rub it off, but I don't think it'll matter too much.

When dealing with chemicals, make sure it's ok to wash it down the drain. Some chemicals can be hard to get rid of, or impossible.

Oh and the shipping was about 2 weeks even though it was estimated longer, I think taobao might have them in all white but that's a bit more complicated ordering process
