Seeing Taemin dance alongside best dancers in Japan in Famous (all of them hand picked for his tours, professional choreographers and national dance champions) and really shining and making it look totally effortless just goes to show what a spectacular dancer he is. And on top of it he is an amazing vocalist as well, capable of standing alone on a stage in front of the huge crowd and making people bawl their eyes, cause of how breathtaking and emotional his singing is… That’s why he is my favorite artist.

The lyrics of PYN indicate a painful breakup. However, this is the first MV where we see Taemin play with dual egos. If you watch it again, you will see him as the criminal robbing a convenience store, but then he also becomes the victim; good vs. bad. In short, "Famous" brings the message that being "Famous" may be fabulous, but it's dangerous. It creates drama in your life and Taemin wants no drama. There's more depth to it, but that's the simple version. Taemin hates to waste energy. He's all about conserving his energy for when he really needs it. There's no reason for him to mouth the words when doing a dance practice; so he doesn't. You will also come to realize that his dance practices are much less intense than the MV. Live performances are where he is the most intense and often adds some free-styling to the choreo. This is why others have such a hard time covering his dances. He's always changing something about his choreo according to how he feels on that stage. As you come to know him more, you will also notice when he is conserving his energy when with either SHINee or Super M. Suddenly you will see him turn down the intensity a notch, especially when he's in the back or off to the side. He knows his body extremely well and will go into conservation mode when he can, then pour it on when he's in the spotlight or upfront with others. After all, SHINee concerts can last 3 to 3 1/2 hours. BTW: You will see a lot of guns in his MVs. Taemin likes guns and things that go BOOM. Thanks for the reaction.

Like no disrespect to his Korean dancers, they're clearly great, but I always look forward to watching his Japanese concerts because his performances are always elevated by his Japanese crew... they just move like him and are synchronized to him to a higher level, I cannot explain it properly. loved this! there's something about his like inherent body movement--it's just so fluid? i have seen him in comparisons with other dancers who are well regarded and even just with the other members of shinee or when he's starting to learn a dance... he's so relaxed. i saw a video that was behind the scenes filming move and he was upset with himself for not being as highly focused and regimented with a take as he could have been, but i think it is like he doesn't appreciate his best quality, which is that almost laziness?? there's an ease there that i don't think anyone else can replicate. i don't know what is next on your docket but i hope you get to see drip drop! and if you're looking for anything extra for it, because it is pretty much a dance performance in itself, the live version of drip drop on sketchbook is superb. the way he's lit at the end of that performance will stay with me till the end of time. thanks again rj! have a great weekend!!

The story in Taemin's "Press Your Number" MV is supposed to be about Taemin struggling with his alter ego. He is battling himself. The guy with the gun who is committing the crimes is his -- or his character's -- inner demons, and when you see him tied up and regretting his actions that is supposed to be the good side of Taemin. That is also why at one point you see two Taemins in the car -- one sitting in front of the other -- ie who is in the driver seat? In other words, who is in control, good or evil? You see flashes of both the girl and Taemin tied up because it's supposed to be alternate realities or situations depending on which part of himself is in control. Being tied up and unable to speak is a metaphor for being trapped inside your mind by self-doubts and indecision, etc. You even see at one point that Taemin is supposed to be the store clerk and he is holding himself at gunpoint. Like pretty much everything Taemin does, it's all supposed to be a metaphor for life. How I interpret the blue rose is, it's supposed to signal the moment where things are not real -- these are moments where Taemin's character is battling with his mind to try and keep a grip on reality. The more roses, the further from reality he is, etc. Also, Blue flowers, when equated with a message, usually stand for love and inspiration, and when presenting someone with blue flowers you are telling them you will stay loyal and passionate about them. Plus, pearl aqua/blue/green, is SHINee's fan color so there are always blue images and blue colors in their MVs. Blue has a lot of important messages when it comes to SHINee. Of course, the performance version MV is all one take, because what you see in a performance video is a highlight of the choreography. In live performances you don't have cuts or edits, so what you see in their performance videos is what you would see if they were performing it live on stage. Because you seem to like it when they dance in water, you should also check out the other performance version MV for "Press Your Number." There is another version that shows the full choreography using the setting where you see him outside in the culvert in a shallow pool of water. You should also watch the live performance from Taemin's Japanese arena tour, so you can hear the Japanese version of "Press Your Number." Because Taemin -- and all the members of SHINee -- are fluent in Japanese, when they perform in Japan the concert is almost entirely in Japanese. "Press Your Number" was originally wrote and composed by Bruno Mars. When SM bought the rights to the song and gave it to Taemin, Taemin and his team translated the words into Korean and changed the style and beat up a little to fit Taemin's style and to make it acceptable for a Korean audience. (Believe it or not, the original lyrics were even more racy than this. LOL) The choreography for the song also was 100% Taemin inspired. There's a reason why Taemin is considered one of THE BEST dancers and artists in the industry. And as you can see, that's why people say he embodies Michael Jackson. "Press Your Number" is the title track off his his first full length solo album Press It from 2016, and it was the second release from the album. Both ""Press Your Number" and "Drip Drop" were filmed in L.A. Because California is a union state the staff and backup dancers needed to be from California and they needed to use union members in order to get permits and to be given permission to film there, so that is one of the reasons why he decided to use non-Asian, western backup dancers in both MVs and why they are the same in both MVs as well.

PYN was originally by bruno mars, sm bought the demo and taemin wrote the korean lyrics because the original lyrics were very sexual. about the mv it's basically all in his head and his inner conflict between the two sides of him (he plays on that duality theme in many of his mvs) & the blue flowers symbolise that this all isn't real, a dream of sorts Taemin is like 176cm ( Idk how that in American measurement lol)

The performance of "Famous" was a dance practice, so you almost never see anyone singing or even mouthing the words in a dance practice. They don't have to sing because it's not about the performance, it's about showing off the choreography. And because Taemin is part of SHINee, you will very rarely see him, or any of the members, lip syncing because they know they aren't good at it and it makes them self-conscious. So SHINee only lip sync when they have to. Therefore, they usually don't even try to worry about the lyrics in a dance practice. And most of the time when SHINee needs to lip sync for some reason, such as for an MV, they are actually more likely to be singing their lines with full voice instead. If you watch behind the sense of them shooting videos you will hear them singing the lyrics many times instead of lip syncing. With "Famous" it's also a metaphor for the price of fame where he is also supposed to be Lucifer-type character, so he is staring intensely into the camera because he is trying to seduce the viewers with his devilish powers. Did you notice at that moment when Taemin "Walked over to the side and then spun, and then came back," he was also directing all the backup dancers behind him? As he was walking the dancers followed him and then when he spun they all gathered together. When it comes to Taemin's dances, you have to look at more than just Taemin because all of his dancers also play a huge role in creating the story in the dance. That was way more than just Taemin walking over and spinning around and then coming back to center. :D Taemin has always been known for saving his energy for where it counts the most -- for live performances and for filming MVs -- dance practices for him are literally dance practices, so he is just allowing himself to feel the dance and get in the groove. He is less worried about being spot on exact, and more about showing everyone the feel of the choreography and the story behind the dance. In his live performances you will see just how much of an expert he really is. Seeing as he is also singing live almost 100% of the time while performing for 3+ hours, you will notice moments where he conserves his energy, only to release it full out during the most intense parts of the dance or performance. So, what you are seeing in the dance practice may not be exactly what you see when you watch the MV or a live performance. Believe it or not, what you just saw in his "Famous" dance practice video, isn't even Taemin at full power. LOL To get the full experience and to really see why Taemin is considered one of the best dancers and performers in the world, you really have to see him perform live. :D Live is where all the members of SHINee really shine. What I find even more impressive about Taemin's dancing is the fact that he does it all while singing live and maintains stable vocals the whole time, without ever sounding out of breath or out of tune, etc. It's no surprise that you are having trouble trying to describe Taemin's dance style and vibe. Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years, as you see with "Famous," he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him. Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Taemin always infuses his choreography with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does, and his strive for perfection is what has made him the industry's top dancer and one of the most popular and well respected artists. so when he says "Famous ... Famous, I'm so famous," there are no truer words. He deserves to tout his success and brag a little. ;P The dancers you see in Taemin's MVs are usually most of the same dancers he uses for his concerts and live performances. They are Taemin's dancers. And they are often also SM dancers, which means they are used as backup dancers in a lot of SM's other groups projects. And a few of the dancers also happen to be SM's choreographers. "Famous" is one of Taemin's Japanese songs. SHINee debuted in 2011 in Japan and Taemin had his solo Japanese debut in 2016. Taemin and SHINee are very famous in Japan and they have just as many songs and albums in Japanese as they do in Korean. They are so famous as Japanese artists that they are considered part of the mainstream Japanese music scene and most Japanese people don't even consider SHINee or Taemin foreign artists. SHINee are so famous as Japanese artists that Japanese interviewers even travel to Korea to interview them. That is why, if you ever watch any of Taemin's or SHINee's Japanese concert performances you will see that the concert is almost entirely in Japanese, including the parts where they interact with the audience. The members of SHINee are fluent in Japanese. They don't even need translators.

LOL RJ, your reaction starting at 7:45! And I know what you mean about brain in lock mode. I TRY SO HARD and always FAIL miserably to watch anyone else on stage. Here's a gorgeous performance video of PYN with Taemin dancing in water: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqjbdGWOfMibjZo BTW, if you ever get into the SM Cultural Universe, you will see a lot of symbolism in PYN to SM's entire storyline. Some say that the MV of PYN signifies Taemin's move toward being the villain. I'm barely untangling SMCU now because I primarily go for straight song/choreo. Speaking of which, isn't the Famous DP video SICK?! Again, can't take my eyes of Taemin, but the backup dancers slay - he has the best in the biz. As for dancing in a suit, I've recently fallen in love with his fancam of one of their stages of Heart Attack (song from Don't Call Me album). The lines he creates are magnificent. The fancam captures some stage people (guessing) talking in the background, so yes, it's not you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6PPmX-GfZidfsU
