Taemin was never tone deaf. I was a music major vocalist in college. He was going through what many do when the voice is changing through puberty. The voice doesn't always completely change right away. He is an amazing vocalist with something many Asians don't have...great vibrato. I love his voice. One of the best singers out of Korea. I discovered him late on but was blown away by his singing and dancing. Rise is a masterpiece and showed how well he actually sings. Can't believe people were talking about him like this when he was young. He is my favorite singer from Korea. He is a superstar.

At 12:10 "Rise" is such symbolic song that represents him and his whole career (representative song to describe him."Rise" as in rise against all odds) and it's one of his best songs and performances. I Love this vid. You did an excellent job capturing and detailing his whole singing career and talent including the challenges he faced as well as some information that is not widely known about him - his family background, his vocal coach, his efforts and struggles, etc.

Taemin has beautiful voice even when they just debuted. Despite him having few lines in SHINee World album, I would repeat his parts several times. And in every comeback, his parts increased eventually showing his improvements. I'm so happy he never stopped improving when he finally get more lines. Now he's even capable of having concerts and arena tours by himself. He's a true inspiration.

People always says ''look at taemin" when they bragging on SM vocal teachers, but his continuous efforts and hard work play the most important role! plus he actively seeking for input from professionals (when he did immortal songs 2, he also called yesung for advice), this is why I respect taemin so much, he really knows WHAT he wants and HOW to get it.

Taemin took his own iniative to find and get lessons from the vocal teacher I mentioned in this vid. She isn't even from SM. She's an independent singer-songwriter, vocal coach and college professor. She once complained SM stole Kyuhyun from her. She trains alot of non-SM singers (John Park, KimBumsoo, Seo In Young) and including Junsu (who is ex-SM/obviously on bad terms with SM, he still got his lesson from this lady after lawsuit with SM). The only ones from SM - Kyuhyun, Luna(at the time) and Taemin.

People always only give credit to SM about Taemin's vocal improvements not knowing that its actually mostly Taemin's own initiative to push himself. He worked hard, sacrificed his own sleeping hours, and even practiced so many times per day. 99% his effort. Taemin's situation first: I am proud of him because for heaven's sake he has tried so hard, he was not the first soloist because he was spoiled but because he was a fighter. Second: it saddens me at the same time, because no one will see the effort just by watching him, they think that a great singer is the one who stands yelling and making beautiful sounds, but Taemin sings with an emotion and feeling, that is what makes a singer an artist. Blessed God he is a soloist because people tend to connect more with onew's and jonghyun's voices who are born singers. In the groups it is expected that everyone sings the same, dances the same, but there are differences, because there are more natural talents. But Taemin has a great advantage: he stands on a stage and gives you the best performance of your life, because he has it all, he is like a snake, captivating and poisonous because he leaves you paralyzed. I can easily say I am proud to be a fan of Taemin. Not lightly, but as an inspiration. I love his beautifully pleasing voice and his powerful dancing skills. LEE TAEMIN IS THE DEFINITION OF ART.

Honestly it's not like he was bad at singing during the old times. It's just that he sings with less power and more breathyness, he probably wasn't confident in belting and wasn't confident in his own vocals (common issue for most beginner vocalists). After lots of practice and confidence building, he started gradually singing powerfully. For the ears of listeners who doesn't understand vocals (regular people), belting/singing powerfully + high notes = good singer. This is a very common (yet misleading) perception especially when it comes to vocal talent competitions on TV or in general.

I love your video, thank you so much for making it. Yes, Taemin has an amazingly good and beautiful voice. His voice even more than his dancing is something that draws me into his music. After all when I listen to his music at home or in my car (and I listen to it every day) I don’t see him dancing, I only focus on his hauntingly beautiful voice. It’s his ballads like Itsuka Kokode and Sekai De Ichiban Aishita Hito that made me bawl my eyes on his concerts.
