You won't have any doubts of the MJ influence then. He said in many interviews that his idol was MJ and that he learned everything from him. See, a lot of "new" Kpop fans here only want to see the latest videos because it's what is popular now. They forget that he is being making music for the past 15 years. And yes, he is considered the King of Kpop and a lot of new South Korean artists look up to him as a mentor and regard him as a "master".

"Nega" (phonetic English spelling) means "me" in S. Korean. I'm happy to admit that Taemin is my ultimate bias, and his group, SHINee ("shiny) is my absolutely favorite group and who I consider the best group in Kpop. An no, I don't feel that Taemin or SHINee get the love and respect they deserve because they are an older group. However, when the younger crowd stumble upon Taemin or SHINee, they are absolutely amazed. This is especially true once they realize they ARE a 2nd gen group who are still together and performing comebacks. This will be SHINee's 17th Anniversary as of May, 2025! Imagine, at the age of 31, Taemin, as the youngest SHINee brother ("maknae") has spent more than half his live as a performer. He was just 14 (3 months shy of his 15th birthday) when he debuted with SHINee, as their main dancer, in 2008. SHINee, as a whole, are absolutely legendary in Kpop. They are known as the "Princes of Kpop" and the performance kings for a reason. Right out of the gate, SHINee started to transform the Kpop landscape by setting new trends to advance the industry to what it is today. They can all sing, dance, rap, and all are also established soloists, with Taemin becoming the very first SM soloist from an existing boy group in 2014 and paving the way for not only his fellow SHINee brothers, but for other SM boy-group idols thereafter. The biggest and most important trend started started by SHINee was their ability to actually sing live while performing their more complex, synchronized choreos than seen prior in Kpop. Other artists in SM would rush to watch a SHINee dry-run practice of one of their songs, amazed at the vocals and dancing. SHINee practiced for such taxing activity by running together while singing. The standard practice prior to SHINee was to lip-synch while performing live. With the introduction of SHINee, live performance standards were upped to what became coined as "The SHINee Standard". The other members of SHINee are: Onew ("on-you"); Jonghyun (RIP our resident guardian angel); Key; Minho; and, of course, Taemin. I would greatly encourage you to check out some of their VAST discography dating from 2008 till now. They don't stick to one genre of music but were one of the first experimental groups who explore all genres and do a lot of mixing of genres together or creating hybrid songs. They also mentored both EXO and NCT, and are greatly respected & revered by the industry across company lines. Taemin though, can be described as "tofu with a core of iron". He's very humble, kind, and loving while also firm in his resolve and a fighter for what he wants. His work ethic is insane and regularly commented upon by other artists. He rarely takes rests or vacations and is devoted to his fans (SHAWOLs & Taemates). Lastly, he is a BEAST on stage. Taemin live is on another level entirely. 1:36 He's Korean. He speaks Korean. He would never use that word and not only that, he probably don't even know the word or the meaning of the world for Americans. Different LANGUAGE and totally culture. Don't worry kids. You hear that word but his saying In Korean an other word. Also Taemin is not super good with his english, it's his 3rd language not his first nor his second which is Japanese. He said once in a variety show of 2024 that English is really hard to speak and he's struggles with it.
