@@mca13 high pitch has nothing to do with vocal technique. There is plenty of amazing vocalists with high pitched voice. Next time if you are trying to critique something at least look shit up so you won't look ridiculous. Besides, being a rapper and being a vocalist isn't mutually exclusive anyway. Taeyong is pretty skilled vocalist for someone who is mainly rapping. Honestly, a lot of rappers have good vocals, his seniors from the same company are a prominent example (Chanyeol, Minho, etc). Beyond that, Taeyong is attending vocal classes, both from SM and personal teacher hired by himself. He also constantly takes advice from his skilled vocalist friends (Baekhyun, Taemin, Taeil, etc). He is working on vocal and the result is evident in his technique steadily improving. He is not a main vocalist material *yet*, but he constantly improves. Even at his current level he could have easily been a lead or sub vocalist in company less focused on vocals than SM. And even if he wasn't skilled enough, plenty solo artists successfully sing despite not being technically good.

The way SM mistreats him and using him for their benefit really breaks my heart. Why only he has to give up his individual schedules just to focus in group activities while others are having back to back own solo schedules. Why can't they give him freedom to have his own solo activities like going for fashion week or being brand advertiser or even acting debut? It's always Taeyong who doesn't get appreciated and gets hate. SM is getting their karma and they deserve to go downhill. I only hope the artists gets into the right hands and have bright future career ahead

It has taken him...a long time...not to find IT, cause IT was never lost. Lee Taeyong has always given new meaning to the word as a unique & exceptonally versatile VOCALIST who, with no effort atall, produces not only ferocious growls & sexy sneers but also the most distinct detailed delicate & delightful...sounds. We have admired not only his melodic pipes & staccato verses but his random barks meows squeals shouts & scattershot rants as well. Then there is breath, his stamina in dancing, the control & sheer force of air from his billowing lungs. We know taeyong has an impressive vocal instrument. From those all too few lines he gets in group songs that we strive to catch, we have always suspected (enough to believe a "feeling good" rumor) that, as a rookie, That Taeyong Boy could seriously... sing. So why hasnt he? It may be that with all his other positions in his groups FULL of imposing singers taeyong stepped back from the mic to willingly provide pitch perfect adlibs & inaudible sub vocals while keeping his full range under raps. Yet we could always sense how much taeyong truly...longs...to join the vocal line. And it seems to be less a matter of talent training & skill (he lacks none of those) than some mind game, an internal struggle with his confidence, his own rightness & worthiness. Or maybe its been a dancers difficulty when trying to concieve & choreograph his stiller stage presence as a crooner...maybe he's been mastering the new style & logistics of an inevitable Soloist. Still more than anything it seemed to me to be about taeyong giving himself permission. In his early demos & vlive karaokes he was slow to grant himself that freedom. We were so eager to hear him and it was painful to watch, only able tocheer him on when he hunchef down or turned away or covered his face just listen to himself or to get notes we know he is so capable of...out of him. At his most unsure moments it ached to hear taeyong trail off or constrict his flow to mere breath. Being taeyong, he fought through the unsure awkwardness and perserved to this amazing moment where he is allowed & able to sit calmly in jeans on a chair in an empty sound stage hold a mic in his hand and be...fine...just raising his soft sure voice...in a song he wrote for all of us.
