Some time ago I proposed using the modern destroyers (Fubuki and afterwards) for anti aircraft escort purposes since they give about as many heavy AA guns as a heavy cruiser for a lower cost and that the old light cruisers (Kuma, Nagara, Sendai...) are a bit useless for that role since they do not have any heavy AA guns. So that is a thing to consider. As for wether to center the fleet arround carriers or cruisers I am a bit uncertain. The zeros will definetly be helpfull and they are probably one of the few aircraft you have capable of fighting bombers efficently (Army fighters and the A5M have only 2 MGs), but heavy cruisers are a bit more immediately neccesary to keep landing on bases. Maybe get one or two but still save for a carrier instead of spending all the points immediately? There were two cruisers on repairs for a month. Maybe those command points can go to the carrier?

The biggest threat to your ship’s right now are the enemy aircraft knocking down there bases is an option but will take multiple trips back and forth to do so while under constant enemy aircraft attacks having a carrier and having its aircraft cover your ships and maybe even hunt for enemy aircraft and ships is another option I personally would say go for a carrier but the choice is yours in the end

(2/3) - Sound of most letters is ‘soft’, not hard. The two you had the most difficulty with were and . The good news is that in Japanese they are both pronounced exactly the same, as: ‘ee’, like in bee, or gee (as in gee-whiz). The way to look at it is like in the girls’ name: Nicky, or Nicki. The sound at the end, regardless of whether we use a or a is the same: ‘ee’. It is never a hard ‘I’, like when we are talking about ourselves (“I went to the store.”), or a hard ‘Y’ like in the word: Yankee. Both are a soft ‘ee’ sound, like: Jimmy or Vicki. The only exception (and it really is not an exception), is when referring to your submarine, the I-121. Then you say ‘I’, like the first person singular: ‘eye’. The reason this is not an exception is that we are basically using English here, kind of like the call names used in the game for Japanese aircraft. The Japanese word for submarine is: sensui-kan. Using was an Imperial Japanese Navy designation, and we use it too, but as an English reference. So calling it the: (‘eye’) I-121 is just fine.

TIP Flooded compartments with a fire (highlighted in yellow) will burn slower than a fire in a dry compartment (highlighted in yellow). Better to work on fires alone - than try and pump water and put out a fire at the same time. Fires only in compartments (highlighted in red) should have prioroty over pumping out flodded yellow ones. As asked for, in my opinion focus on subs and building up you bases (air bases first and try to focus one of the ports for quicker and more central supply hub, maybe Banjamasin ?). Maybe add 1 or 2 smaller convoy fleets to move gear from the north to a central port in the south. The CV + support is to much of points drain until you have more control over the air in the java sea.

Taff San, obviously there are pros and cons but I would consider a powerful surface fleet to escort and deliver transports/supplies 'more safely' to enable you to upgrade various airfields and then also to bombard the enemy the enemy facilities, anything left over should go to subs. In this way you can achieve air cover in your 'sphere of operations' without (yet) getting an expensive carrier and the risks associated? It seems an efficient and elegant solution to me. 'just saying' ? Loving the series. Pax.

(3/3) - Dealing with is a bit more difficult. All it really is doing is adding an extra semi-consonant to the syllable, so: hu, can become: hyu. Just one syllable (sound) in either case. Good news is that it is only used with some, not all consonants, and the only vowels that gets used with are (a,o,u)… and use with is rare. However the sound changes because we are adding the ‘ee’ sound (Jimmy, or Vicky). BUT slamming ‘ee’ into the middle kind of makes it into two sounds in English. The: hu sound, when we go to: hyu, we want to say ‘hee-u’ in English, as in two sounds. Instead we need to make like the Germans, drop an octave and get a bit guttural, move your jaw forward, and push it all together. So hyu comes out more like ‘hew’ than ‘hee-u’. This needs a bit of practice, like when speaking German, but it will come to you as you work on it. So: go, sounds just like the English: go. But: gyo, is not ‘gee-o’, like saying: geography, (ge-o-graph-y) in English. Instead it is guttural like German, and with an ‘ee’ sound; it gets more like: ‘guu-o’, but with an ‘ee’ in the middle. Interestingly when the vowel is: , it is much easier, since you can really just think of it like a: . So: hyu is pronounced like ‘hew’, and: gyu is pronounced like ‘gew’, albeit a bit more guttural. Using the letter , which is rare, isn’t so bad either. Saying: kya sounds rather like the first syllable in the word: ‘kiosk’. Things are harder with the vowel: , and this is because unlike the Germans, we don’t use this sound in English!

30:00 Yeah... pretty sure that's wrong, and that it's actually counting the naval mines that sub carried as torpedoes, since historically those were primarily mine-laying subs...
@phelidaifrost601911 ай бұрын
A fighter heavy carrier would definitely be the right choice in my opinion. It’ll allow you to chop down enemy air much faster. Submarines are nice, but unfortunately WotS doesn’t model logistics so going after much other than military ships often doesn’t do much other than support RP. Tip for fighter battles: You’ll take heavy fighter losses in most air to air fights, but you can get the enemy to start engaging you, then fly low around your ships and have your ships AA do the work. It requires manual control, but it will reduce your losses by 90+% in my experience. Also, submarines incorrectly showing torpedoes is a common bug in this mod. I’ve had a midget sub that somehow had 10 torpedoes on board according to the tactical map, and this was after it fired its only two fish.

(1/3) - Pronouncing JAPANESE. You are doing well, congratulations! There are two areas where you can improve, so let us get into it. The first is to remember that in Japanese Roman-ji there are NEVER two vowels together - as a single sound (syllable), NEVER two vowels together. So when you see them together, you need to always break the ‘extra’ vowel out as an INDEPENDENT syllable, or sound. As with the town: Aomori, which becomes: A-o-mo-ri, so too when an ‘extra’ vowel shows up in the middle of a word, or at the end, it also needs to be come an independent syllable. So, as syllables we will normally see: consonant/vowel, consonant/vowel, etc.; until an ‘extra’ vowel suddenly appears. This ‘extra’ vowel becomes a new independent syllable. Thus, the submarine class you were looking at in your shopping list, the: Kaidai, is a great example, because not only does it have an ‘extra’ vowel in the middle, it also has an ‘extra’ vowel at the end! So applying this rule: Kaidai, becomes: Ka-i-da-i.

Seeing sub action makes me miss Uboat, but we have sh4 to tide us over. And to help with pronunciation, there are 2 -3 letter syllables, an example of aratama maru would be ara-ta-ma ma-ru. Not that i'm an expert as most of my knowledge comes from jrpg's and anime.
@jamesfrench739411 ай бұрын
It's A-ra-ta-ma. All you have to do is look at how it is written in Hiragana (see WIKI). It is the phonetic alphabet for kids and used in everyday script for fleshing-out Kanji for adults. Put simply: Aratama starts with the Hiragana character for 'A', then the character for 'ra', etc. Now what happens in spoken Japanese is that they slide things together when talking, rather like we do in English, or any other language. At times this works, like at the start or end of a word, other times not. I repeat the example of: Toyota. I do, and I'll bet you too say: 'Toy o ta. But no one in Japan says it that way. It is: To yo ta, and three Hiragana symbols to boot, the symbol for: to, for: yo and for: ta. The only three-letter syllables are those I have mentioned, like sh and ch + vowel, tsu, and whenever they stick a into what is otherwise a normal two letter syllable. You may not know this, but when the Japanese shift from, for example: go to: gyo, they add a signal to the Hiragana character (diacritics), so that the reader knows that it is: gyo, not the normal every day: go. These are two small dashes for the simple change, and for a more significant change, they put a small circle next to the base Hiragana character. All that being said, Japanese differs hugely from Chinese, there is nothing in common, other than some pronunciation of Kanji characters in the old style. But even then, the Japanese have reduced the sounds down to the Hiragana level and the pattern is precise. Finally, there are some dialect sounds in Japan, small regional or city-country differences, but the written governs, and there: Hiragana is the key reference.

Can't see getting the carrier and using up all your command points. However, if you get one and can keep a constant CAP over your carrier group, then maybe. Don't even think for a second of not having air cover. This game has shown a bias towards cheating out of a player advantage. I would guess that if the AI air attacks don't sink or disable your carrier, then it will employ subs to do it, plus it will stack the accuracy of its attacks beyond reasonable. The AI has already shown this trend. I would avoid the carrier and spend as many points in surface attack ships as possible, but not BB's. Get as many cruisers of all types and use overwhelming force to batter enemy bases into submission. This is what you have been doing and it seems to be slowly succeeding. Stay the course - the AI will push back against any high value asset you acquire. Add a sub or two, but you don't need that many right now since so far you have not faced a significant surface threat. You need supply and attack task groups and as much AA as you can gather. INRE the fight battle between the Oscars and the Buffalos - are you kidding me, game?! Seriously, at this time, the Japanese combat pilots in the theater are far more experienced and skilled than the Dutch flying those outdated and outclassed US hand-me-downs. I fully expected all enemy KIA and no Oscars lost. The AI cheats. :P
