This mod seems to guarantee that if your heavy ships get hit by a single bomb it either takes out your propulsion or causes a magazine explosion and either way it dooms your ship. But when YOU hit an enemy ship, the smallest boat has the hit points of a battleship.

I like this game, but with the mod or without, ships tend to take WAY too long to sink. I emptied three akizukis into a C3 Freighter (way over 80 100mm shell hits) and it still didnt sink, its redicilous...

(3/3) As to the game itself: a suggestion. I understand from watching someone in an early version that controlling your aircraft during a battle scene is difficult. However, I would remind you that torpedoes will ‘swim’ a long way towards the target on their own. In short, get your torpedo planes to drop earlier, then turn away. When they simply overfly the convoy, they will be ripped to shreds by AA. NOW, the problem, is getting them to turn after dropping, at least it was in the early campaign I watched. If you can figure that out, you will save a lot of your torpedo bombers from getting shot down, but probably have fewer hits. Still, if you bombers survive, they can try-try-again. Another tactic I saw earlier was to send fighters with your bombers, and have the fighters circle around the convoy at high altitude. They will successfully draw AA. Being small air planes and at high altitude, and not ‘directly’ over the convoy, the odds of their being hit is very low. This will reduce the amount of AA available to go after your bombers. Fun series, although, the amount of aircraft available to the allies at this point in the war, in this part of the Pacific, is beyond ridiculous. Still the graphics are fun to watch!

(Just a Suggestion) When you can, I was thinking maybe get the IJN Soryu with at least 4 decent escort ships. Mainly cause it's not as expensive as a Shokaku or Akagi but would be a good sustaining Aircraft Carrier until later you could get a Shokaku, Akagi, or Kaga Class. Also Cause you need to do something to contest or maintain air superiority over the enemy's seemingly unlimited number of aircraft. Plus, having at least 10 to 11 escort fighters above the carrier at all times. This move has helped me in my own Campaign cause even if the enemy sends 12 attack Aircraft or 9 attack Aircraft you could keep the majority of them busy and leave your escorts to shoot down the last attack plane or two. This means you could send 7 to 8 fighters above the Supply convoys, plus the Land Based Oscar's could definitely help escort the convoys too. So you could have some sort of defensive position over your task forces. But having 10 to 11 A6M2's over your Carrier TF is usually enough cause they usually win a dogfight with a Buffalo fighter with little struggle. You'd also have multiple dive bombers and Torpedo bombers at your arsenal too. Why the Soryu, though? That is mainly just cause the Soryu is usually forgotten cause she was the smaller carrier sunk at midway right away. Anyway, that is just a suggestion you do you Taff! Great content as always!

The "pleasure craft" you sank was the Gouden Leeuw i think and it had a crazy story, something like hold off a japanese destroyer task force after ramming one or something like that

If that transport had survived that torpedo hit I would have been completely shocked.

(2/3) Now let us talk about the exceptions. First, all of the 5-vowels (a, e, i, o, u) are available independently in Japanese. When they appear, NOT as part of a two letter syllable, they are pronounced separately, as an independent syllable. The city Osaka, for example, is: O-sa-ka. The northernmost major city on the main island is called Aomori. This is said: A-o-mo-ri. There is one independent consonant, and that is the letter “N”. Whenever that occurs (which isn’t very often!), you do use it just like in English to finish off a syllable. The best example is the famous bullet train, Shinkansen. In Japanese it SHOULD be: Shi-n-ka-n-se-n. But it is NOT. The Japanese say it just like we do: Shin-kan-sen. This is the ONLY exception to the rule of NOT ending a syllable with a consonant! (Note: it is not emphasized, it is spoken “lightly”.) Then, there are double consonants, typically: ch, sh, these with many vowels, and the famous “ts”, the latter always with “u”, as in: tsu, as in tsunami (tsu-na-mi) Sometimes the letter “Y” is tossed in with the leading consonant in any syllable; normal = go, but sometimes = gyo. Finally, there is a “trick” used in Roman-ji to tell the speaker to pause. It is when there the SAME consonant doubled. Example is the northern island of Hokkaido. It is said Ho-ka-i-do. So the extra “K” is NOT pronounced, what is “K” for? Well, it is there to tell you to take a pause. So you say: Ho---ka-i-do. (This is because: Ho is one Chinese character, which means “north”. Like we say: North Atlantic, we break the sound between words.) So, your destroyers are: Jin-tsu & A-sa-ka-ze, then transports: A-ra-ta-ma Ma-ru, Ko-to-ku Ma-ru and Ka-mo-ga-wa Ma-ru. Now you know!

(1/3) Pronouncing JAPANESE: here are the secrets. First, understand that what we are reading is a Roman-ised version of Japanese (called: Roman-ji). Now, the KEY to being able to say it properly is to understand that in Japanese a single syllable, which is one 'sound', consists of two letters, not three, which is the norm in English or European languages. In Japanese, a syllable starts with a consonant and ends with a vowel. In English, etc., we start with a consonant, vowel in the middle, and end a syllable with another consonant. Let me give you an example with a well known Japanese word, namely the (common family name) and famous battleship: Yamamoto. In English it would be: Yam-a-mot-o. But in Japanese pronunciation, it properly would be said: Ya-ma-mo-to. And when you say it properly, start slowly, but then a bit faster, it isn't really too bad and gets closer to the English sound, but a bit different. Thus the cruiser you lose here, the Atago, is NOT: A-tag-o, but should be A-ta-go. Another good example would be the car manufacturer, Toyota. English speakers say: Toy-o-ta. It should be: To-yo-ta. Etc. Note: Aircraft are normally given the “call” names they were given by the allies. Occasionally in the game, and aircraft will have the Japanese Roman-ji name. Then, apply the rules given here.
