It has to be said: Graeme is an awesome operator! In 6 hours he's surveyed the entire area from as as many high vantage points, In 12 hours he's contacted the locals; in 24 hours he read the the beach at low tide so well and seen the set ups from broken tackle, that he already knows more about how to fish this spot than most; in 36 hours he's discovered the best located restaurant to leave the ladies to maximize his fishing time; and in 48 hours he pulling out a better stamp of fish than anyone around. What an angler! Thanks for posting - I learnt more from this video than I have from a dozen books. Great stuff.

As an australia I find your comments about your family so great and real.Ive found about your learning over 2 videos . Including squid which are different and bigger and different species quite educational. This time rigs and bait presentation quite different.. with items I have not seen in my tackle shops. Same as in China. With extendable rods and hand painted floats in my case for river fishing. Including fishing twist inserts in umbrellas for mainly sun or rain.. I can get stainless steel hooks on ebay,100 from 10 to 1 very strong for about $5 au. I bought five packs as they dont rust as other brands do. My main rods and reels are now Shimano and the expensive braid is super fine. Ilove your rod stands but here in Au we have so much sand. The river stands are very small compact inserts from china. If you get the right sellers in china stuff is very cheap with no post. Searching is nessercy.. . But I have not searched for english style tackle. I will in the future. Robby.ko

Hi Graeme massive fan and love all your videos! In response to your question about using a shock leader with braid , I would say yes 100 percent use a leader depending on where you are fishing! Since using braid I have found that it frays very easily if fishing over mixed to rough ground even using 70-80lb braid. If using only braid it will be the first point of contact you have to your rig so if you are snagged it will likely rub against rocks or barnacles etc. Using a strong mono leader will help to stop the braid rubbing and fraying off. However if I’m fishing over clean sand with no worries of rocks I will use it straight through . I had to learn the hard way by trial and error and loosing a ton of gear😃! Keep up the amazing work you guys do appreciate every video thank you !

@rogergeary28936 жыл бұрын
On the subject of leaders, here is my half penneth: - if you are casting a weight, then the 'free' end of the line should have a break strength of 6x the lead weight - so 6 ozs needs line strength of the 'free line' plus 6 or 7 turns on the reel of 60lbs. This gives a safety margin for ant impact loading during the cast, and ought to be used even on an cast, pendulum or ground or any other. The only need for a 'leader' is to have a stronger free line at the end when casting with mainline less than the 6x or it's preferred in order to give greater abrasion resistance for rough ground when using an more easily abraded main line eg braid. The advantage that a separate leader does have is, as you mention , is that it gives a weak point in the form of the mainline/leader knot that can be useful to break off if snagged, and hence not cause a break somewhere along the cast main line length causing you to loose mainline which then needs to be replaced... Better to replace a leader than hundreds of yards of mainline!......

Great video yet again Graeme, the large wooden posts you snagged on may be part of the ww2 anti aircraft defence obstructions, the like of which were placed along the beaches in diagonals i think so as to stop aircraft landing on the wide expanses of beach, this was used on blue anchor bay and dunster beach so could be the same, hope there's more videos to come

That big bite you know the flyer it reminded me of sea catfish bites. Those fish hit so hard. Personally I've seen 3 rods taken to the deeps. And finally yes tou do need a leader it gives you a bit of stretch that you dont get with braid. Cant wait till next Friday keep it up.
