Awesome video. So much better than any pike fishing I've ever seen on youtube or even television. They should give this guy a TV show of his own!

I've just got into lure fishing, I didn't really have much of a clue about lure types but this has helped a lot. I would recommend this to any angler interested in lures experienced or not, I'm going fishing for pike this weekend and I am confident that I will catch (especially after this). Thanks guys, great videos, keep'em coming.

Awesome! Good luck!!

Both good on their day. Deadbaits for bigger fish I feel. Small to medium pike on lures. But that is a generalisation.
@TAFishing12 жыл бұрын
Dawn and dusk,dusk being better as the pike will be more active as other anglers will have been throwing bait in and the smaller dace/roach etc will not be so wary.Many clubs don't start pike fishing until October,so you would need to check the water you intend fishing. Good fishing.The T/A crew.

I bought the lures at a tackle shop in Cairns,Queensland,Australia,where I was marlin fishing. Can't remember the name of the shop,but they were lures for a species of fish called Barramundi . Somebody told me this type of lure is now a collector's item,but maybe if you Google any tackle shop in Cairns,Australia you might have a base to start from.That hot fluoro green is certainly loved by the pike.I don't cast it close to any snags !! Good luck finding some.

That's a really good and cool plug!!!!The plug with that adjustable lip...Really handy to fish ALL waters
@TAFishing12 жыл бұрын
Minimum temperature is when they start to bounce off the ice !!! As a general rule though,the pike are more likely to pick up a deadbait in really cold weather than chase a lure. I don't think it makes any difference what lure.But I would suggest a lure action that works well with a slow retrieve might be better in cold temps.

Thanks for all your postings! I never bring a net with me shore fishing...just run back and pull it up to shore! That is what I thought you were finally doing on the 19 pounder but then you come running back with a net! Thanks again love your vids.

The best fishing for pike with lures is when the temprature is around 9-13 degrees. If it´s warmer, they´ll sink to the bottom and become lazy. If it´s too cold, they´ll not hunt lures if they go too fast, so retrieve the lure slowly and they usually take the lure :)

The best connection is with something called a Crosslock swivel as they don't open out. Otherwise use a link swivel to join the lure to the leader. I have no idea where to get Crosslocks from.I used to get mine from America.Try Bass Pro shops in USA on your search engine.As for lures in Ireland.The copper spoon is an old favourite,or any plug with bright colours as the waters are generally peat based and therefore slightly coloured

You need to check the fishing regulations for that particular lake. Day ticket might state whether you can/cannot, or ask at the local tackle shop. I think lures are usually OK at most places, some say no bait fishing until 1st October. Worth checking.

Great to see yet another great fish on our twitching sprat method! It can really do the business, we can't wait for the rivers to clear a bit we will be out there doing more vids!! Watch this space..

Someone told me the ones I use are wood,and now collectors pieces,but I still use them.Barramundi lures come from Australia,I bought mine over there.Suggest you put Cairns Tackle shop in your search engine and see what comes up with lures.There are bound to be lots of shops selling them. Or find an Australian fishing forum and ask someone on there.
@TAFishing12 жыл бұрын
They were BARRAMUNDI lures.This is a predator fish like a Nile Perch that they catch in Australia .Check out other comments on that page with the film,I think anorther guy gave a suggestion for similar lures.Good Luck,and spread the TOTALLY AWESOME word .
@TAFishing12 жыл бұрын
Can be if it goes clear.Thames weirpools can be really good for pike on spinners or lures.I prefer small deadbaits. Not sure about slower stretches,though many twenties come out each season. Probably stick to the areas that have lots of matches as this means plenty of smaller fish attracted for the pike. Good luck.
@hibs0213 жыл бұрын
A good tip about the latex lures, when they get ripped up torn to bieces etc you can melt them back together with a hot knife or soldering iron
@TAFishing12 жыл бұрын
Hi,Glad you like the films.The rod is a Ryobi Masterpike (2,I think) reel just a cheaper ,old Shimano baitrunner,but small, not those huge carp models.The plugs came from Australia. Called a Barramundi plug. Good luck with the fishing.The T/A crew.

Nice one Graeme - made me feel very homesick! This is the sort of fishing i fondly remember. I used to fish the Hampshire Avon and Dorset Stour for pike by wobbling deadbaits and caught lots of pike to over 20lbs and often had the place to myself. Really miss it all as I now live in New Zealand where there a no pike at all - Bugger !
@TAFishing12 жыл бұрын
The good ones are the patterns that catch you the fish.My best is a Barramundi lure,but no model number.You might try the Abu Hi-Lo jointed lures,there might be a tackle shop somewhere stocking them.Or Shakespeare used to make a single bodied lure called the "BIG S" .Rusty brown or straight silver were my best two colours on those patterns. Probably nobody in the UK selling Barramundi lures,but after the publicity we've given it,you can bet your last swivel someone is going to try and copy it.

Thanks!! unfortunately don't know anywhere up your way.Check out tree overhangs,bends,bushes and deeper pools,but I would stay away from spinners and use sprats as deadbait which are fairly cheap .At least until you get to know a river. Goods Luck.The T/A Crew

Plenty of fish in the supermarket to eat.No need to kill pike,they are under enough pressure from other factors .A general rule in Britain is to put all pike back alive.
@TAFishing11 жыл бұрын
Always use cabled wire,30/40lb breaking strain.Never put a lure on straight mono,its going to get bitten off .Your local tackle shop should sell some,but don't use single strand.It kinks and breaks.Good luck.

I never use a glove,but have to say I am more nervous of the treble hooks than the pike's teeth.I find gloves difficult to use,but that just personal,some guys like those mesh gloves that fish filleters use.They are more supple.Its up to you.But watch the loose hooks.

@hibs02 @hibs02 i, The rod is an old Ryobi Masterpike.So old the casting weight sticker is rubbed off.But I broke it on a "River Stour pike" film (on our channel),but cut back the broken section,re-glued the spigot,and just caught 9 pike to 19lbs on the "Pike on lures" film you watched.So its still going. The biggest fish I have caught on it was a Nile Perch over 50lbs on a lure from Lake Victoria. .They were durable rods,pretty well priced.I like them-Graeme

Nice series. I recently came across this Pike fishing playlist and it got me interested. So after watching this entire playlist, I decided to go Pike fishing in a local lake. Live in Denmark, we have plenty of lakes over here. Anyhow, I went out 3 days, and on the third I finally hooked a Pike, on the spinner. It was a small one none the less, nothing more than I'd guess 2-3 pounds, but it was still a rush pulling it ashore. Thanks for all the tips, and hopefully we'll get a new Pike video soon?

Now THAT is fun fishing!!! Gotta love those big nasty predators. I love using the big husky jerks and plugs. Perch pattern and Red/White are great. 20 pounds isn't that big for Pike and Musky actually. 100 years ago they grew to 100 pounds, no joke. The Natives caught them in huge nets. We even have a nice 32 lb. Pike mounted on the wall. Smart fish!

Any time, though morning and evening they make take better as their food fish will be more active then. They will take deadbaits at night but I have never heard of them grabbing lures. Any time its light is good for lures so they can see the lure, as there is smell from a bait, but not a lure.

Bass deffo, or Pollack on a deep diver. But I would sooner fish plastics like Sidewinders,firetail worms etc. You can work them slower through the gullies.
