The alarms with voices telling you about the drill is way better. My school doesn't have those ones though. They have the ones just like in the video. Since I first started Kindergarten, I've had those loud alarms before and they were scary. Now in 7th grade, they have the same exact alarms and I wear headphones for saftey. These kids did so good in this.

How my school does these drills (by month) Sep: None Oct: Fire Drills (mainly) Nov: (Couple Fire Drills, 1 Lockdown) Dec: None (except Lockdown) Jan: None Feb: None Mar: Fire Drills (once the snow melts, warm weather) Apr: Fire Drills May: Fire Drills Jun: (Couple Fire Drills to end the school year) Summer School (July-August): 2 Fire Drills (1 in July, 1 in August) We always do 2 Fire Drills at 10:00am and at 1:30pm. (They don't announce these, by the way.) That is how my school does these.

My school uses the same fire alarm system. It scares me most of the time. Some of the classrooms don't have one, but we can still hear it out in the hallway. We just had our first one last Friday, but they never sounded the alarm though for some reason.

It’s not that bad. My high school has the same alarms and in grade 9 I was in the gym during the fire drill. It was surprisingly not that bad.

i go to middle school and the fire alarms there are not loud at all it just beeps once to let you know the fire drill has started and then it just flashes

Note my initial comment. We had 5000 kids in my high school, and it still took under two minutes to clear the building. Just saying that "It's a big school" doesn't hold water. Did Taft have that many students? We also were not pre-warned that a fire drill was going to occur, except for the first one of the year. The rest were all no-notice.

How many students were involved here? My high school had about 5000 students the year I graduated, and we could clear the building in under two minutes. Alarm was on bells, code 5. Return to the building was signaled by one long ring on the bells.

Most staff have to carry role books or accountability sheets. That way they can write down who’s accounted for. All teachers generally have to carry them. Afterwards, the accountability is typically reported to the front office, principal, or school nurse.

MBLR Studios In most schools, it depends on how quickly the building is evacuated. Also, for larger schools, it can take longer for them to report attendance if there is a large number of people. So a smaller school is typically faster because it’s more convenient to report who’s accounted for/who’s not. If you were the principal of a school with over hundreds or even thousands of people, you might see that the timing can range from 15 to 40 minutes. Lots to keep in mind.

While the drill is going on. School administrators have to check the halls, classrooms and restrooms to make sure everyone is out. So that could be a factor in it assuming this is a big school.
