@alexanderkamerbeek96935 күн бұрын
Why is that an issue?
@NGMonocrom4 күн бұрын
@alexanderkamerbeek9693 Over time they dry out, become brittle, crack, fall apart. You go to have your favorite watch serviced.... And get a call from the watch-maker with bad news. Plus, cheap plastic movement holders are what you get in cheap, low-end Automatic movements. Not something that costs as much as one of the higher end TAG Heuer's do.
@alexanderkamerbeek96934 күн бұрын
@@NGMonocrom however you don't think this movement serves as a base for other movements which will need to fit in different cases? I do agree that it would be better if they would mill the case but that will make it more difficult to service aswell because of the dial.
@NGMonocrom4 күн бұрын
@alexanderkamerbeek9693 The movement, yes. But the movement holder is a separate part. In other watches it could easily be made out of metal. A plastic movement holder isn't a requirement for any movement.

Yes, but its worth pointing out that the TC78 was a movement designed for Seiko Credor, which makes a world of difference. Credor sits slightly above Grand Seiko - IMHO the heritage of the movement is pretty damn top class and arguably more impressive than the fully in house Heuer 02.

D. Heisenberg Typical ignorant name dropper. Where you get that from.. marketing? Actually lange puts them to shame for a serially mass produced watch, as well as seiko Credor in the same price class. Patek is a good watch but have used movement based on longines/lemania as well as JLC, so how do you feel about them using a shitty ordinary longines derived movt? Also, Independent like L. Ferrier, Dufour, voutilanen, roger smith is a whole another level. Get your facts straight if you act like you know....someone who has confidence to love a seiko/swatch can enjoy their piece as much as a insecure turd who buys a pp based on other's approval.

Aside from the lack of a vertical clutch (which is odd because the predecessors of the Seiko 6S37 - the 1887/Heuer 01 is based the 6S37 whose design tag bought a licence for - did have a vertical clutch) it Its a fairly sophisticated and modern movement (largely thanks to Seiko's proprietary technologies like the vibrating pinion and "magic lever"). Design wise, it is also amongst the nicer "workhorse" column wheels that have chronograph function cleanly integrated into the movement - as opposed to the bulky, awkward designs at similar price points which more closely resemble modular movements rather than proper intergrated chronographs. In the case of Panerai and Breitling, their in house chronographs ARE pretty much chronograph modules stacked ontop of a base movement. That said, they definitely make the movement a lot uglier since re branding it the "01".
@hipboi8946 жыл бұрын
JimIBobIJones I strongly believe that vibrating pinion was heuer's patent and still belongs to tag's tech.
@JimIBobIJones6 жыл бұрын
But that was from back, back in the day and long since lapsed. In the case of the 1887/"Heuer 01", its something they carried over from the Seiko base movement rather than something they added. I'm not dissing the movements or the watches (the 1887 carrera is one my favourite watches in my collection) but we shouldn't buy too much into Tag's deceptive marketing: credit should be ascribed where it is due.
@zsombormolnar53755 жыл бұрын
OMG, this one looks like a 200USD, movement. The Injection moulded skeleton dial itself shows that the goal is the cheapness and profit for this "watch company". Jokes. :D
