@@Speakconfidentenglish Thank you ,Wonderful channel! I have a question that has been bothering me for a long time. I did not know what I did wrong. My teammates got promoted and I said “congratulations” in my email. They just ignored my message. But they are usually polite people, at least superficially. I don’t know why they ignored me, I just wanted to be polite. Is that offensive to say “congrats” on your team members’s promotion? Thank you in advance for your reply.
@Brimenting2 жыл бұрын
@@freetalk927 There is nothing wrong with "congratulations!" in that context. Perhaps your email didn't arrive for some reason.

Hey Annemarie! Thanks for this lesson, is so useful! Here are the answers to the quiz: 1 can't you? - humor 2 do I? - confirmation 3 doesn't it? - confirmation / start conversation 4 Would - Wouldn't you? - favor Moreover, I learned by this lesson new expressions such as "fall behind" and "herding cats". But I missed "happen to have". Could you ever explain it? Thanks a lot!
@Speakconfidentenglish2 жыл бұрын
Great job with the quiz, Melina! And thank you for the question. "Happen' means "by chance/luck." So another way to interpret, "You wouldn't happen to have..." is "By chance, do you have..." or "By any luck, do you have..." I hope this helps.

Thank you for these very informative videos. I have a few listed vocabulary terms, can you show me how to use them. "monotonus" 'apparently' 'mitigate'
@Speakconfidentenglish2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question, Sinchana. Those are all great words to take note of. And I have a challenge for you: if you go back and listen to the sentences I use with these words, consider the whole sentence. Consider the sentences before and after. What do you think the meaning of these words might be based on what you hear? This process is called learning words in context and it's an important vocabulary-building skill. Feel free to let me know what you think those words might mean and I'll be sure to respond.
