Hi there. I don't know whether I mentioned these before but I just wanted to tell you my 2 favorite books I read in 2023: A Little Life by Hanna Yanagihara and The Dollmaker by Harriet Arnow.

I LOVE the movie Enchanted April. I always loved the beginning, in the rain in London. So good. 84 Charing Cross Road is another favorite. The love of books just radiates from the film.

Hi Gina. I'm enjoying Miss Read's Thrush Green. I just wanted to give you a few more recommendations: Anya, by Susan Fromberg Schaeffer and Sophie's Choice by William Styron; also the movie "A Light in the Piazza" with Yvette Mimiuex and Olivia Dehavilland. 📖

Okay, I finally watched "Enchanted April," since you return to it often. As an independent person, I was kinda hoping for a different ending ... so this story was "interesting." Nevertheless, thanks for the recommendation! Have you seen "Book Club" and "Book Club: The Next Chapter"? Both feature the quartet of Candice Bergen, Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, and Mary Steenburgen. The sequel reminds me of "Enchanted April," in that they go off to Europe with one purpose and end up with another.

Such a great bunch of books👍. I have read some of them but I have only read one Mrs Polifax, really enjoyed it, must get more of the series and the Iain Pears😊.

I LOVE 84 Charring Cross Rd! It is one of my first "real" books, very old. 😊 Wuthering g Heights is my 2nd all time favorite book. I collect copies of it. Unique ones. I have The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd, but haven't read it yet. I am in the hotel now, while my apt. is being remodeled. I am soooo exhausted from the past month, plus, all I am doing is sleeping...and reading. 😊😀😁😋 Thanks Gina, great as usual!

Hi Gina, I read my first and maybe last Debbie Macomber last year. There are other sweeter romance authors I like better. I think she's to over hyped. But what do I know? As time goes on I find myself gravitating more to classics. Or books with a classic feel to them. Example, my current read The Mistletoe Kiss by Betty Neels who wrote for Mills &Boone. Amy recommended it. Which I'm reading for Sarah's Retro Romance readathon.

Hi Amy! I’ve never actually read any Debbie Macomber, but I do enjoy romance and cozy. I am gravitating more towards classics too. Mistletoe Kiss sounds good! Sarah has really good taste.

I know what you mean about the film adaptation of Enchanted April 💕 i would also say the Merchant Ivory version of Howards End (A.Hopkins & Vanessa Redgrave) is actually even better than the book (which is brilliant anyway) & oh my gosh Shardlake & The Instance Of The Fingerpost! i've had these on my shelves for years & must try to get to at least one in Tudortember 🤗 Beautiful little edition of 84 CCRd 💘🥰

2 more favorite books: Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier and The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan. Have you read them and, if so, did you like them?

I haven’t read Rebecca (but I own it and I’ve seen a zillion movie adaptations). I have read The Joy Luck Club and loved it!

I love the book Rebecca. I think the movie with Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier is very good but the book is better if you haven't seen the movie first. It's a book I could really get lost in. I've read it several times. Thanks for your response. P.S. I love getting books in the mail too. It's a bit addictive but I love it.💙@@GinaStanyerBooks
