@@PhillipMcKnight , do you know if they make Gibson scale length guitars? Their website is kinda incomplete. And 👊🏼 for just measuring it and relaying the info on the scale and radius of the one you had in your hands! You'd be surprised how many times I've called a shop ahead of time and asked similar questions, and if it's not on the spec sheet in front of them...9x's outta 10, they just don't have that info., and it doesn't occur to them that they can just go physically grab the guitar and find out 🤷. Thanks for the review. You keepin it? Looks and sounds fantastic, from my house...

It's so interesting as a Brazilian to see non-Brazilian people talking about Tagima-and having good things to say, I grew up seeing my friends playing tagimas and my first acoustic guitar was a Tagima, but we've always referred to tagima as the 'low-cost-crappy-brand easy-to-buy-made for begginers' type of instrument. Seeing them improving and even having a Premium line really impressed me, happy for them!

Tagima was always a quite decent guitar. It was cheaper because importing goods is expensive due to a lot of tax. So people in Brazil had the perception it was worse than imported ones. But I owned many imported brands of entry level guitars and my Tagimas was never that far behind or sometimes I even enjoyed the Tagima ones.

Finally one international review about Tagima Guitars. I'm from Brazil, and here there's a bunch of brands which instruments are very well crafted and have a great history behind. Examples of these historical brands are Tagima and Giannini. Some companies do not exist anymore today (Del Vecchio and Snake), but his used guitars are just fantastic, with a good price too (same as old Tagima's and Giannini's old guitars).

My first bass was a Tagima B4, a model that is not manufactured anymore. It happened more than 15 years ago. I tested many basses in the guitar store, from a very wide price range. Tagima used to create fairly cheap instruments back then, so I really wasn't expecting much. But it was very comfortable to play and sounded amazing! I sometimes still miss that yellow buddy.

Then again, almost all electric guitars are "retro" in a way. We have the same guitar styles still going today that started in the 1950's. Teles, Strats, Les Pauls, Gibsony semi-hollows, Gretsch hollow bodies. Even the seemingly modernistic Flying V is from the late 1950's! It's as if people today were still driving cars styled like 50's cars instead of these little sardine can boxes we have today LOL

@@markjohnson7910 They have a wide range of models at different prices. Their entry levels are now made in China and they have intermediate and higher end and artist instruments handmade in Brazil. Kiko Loureiro (Angra, Megadeth) was probably the most famous Tagima endorsed player, but several other Brazilian players have their signature models. I have a strat type (T-635) made in Brazil from around 2003 with big 70's head stock before Fender sued them. It was my high school sweet heart and I really like the Pau Marfim neck and it plays very well. With some pick-up upgrades it becomes a very decent sounding guitar as well. But I cannot speak for the newer models as I have not tried one in a while and now I live in Germany, so no chances...

YESSSS!!! I've been waiting for someone to review a ANY Tagima. All the videos online are in Portuguese!. A local shop carries Tagima as their house brand and have a pretty extensive selection (Strat/Tele style, LP, 335, etc.). They all feel pretty good overall but haven't plugged any in. What I was blown away with was the TW25 folk acoustic model. The sapele back and sides were warm and resonant and the nato neck felt FANTASTIC! Also very pretty guitar for around $125.00 new. Killer bargain and I don't care for dreadnought bodies. Please do a video of the TW25 or another acoustic. There is nothing on KZbin about these guitars in English. MORE! BTW I love the look of the one you played here. Dig the body shape/color, dig the headstock design and the pickups sound pretty good.

Seizi Tagima is a Brazilian luthier who entered the music market in the 80s, initially he worked with guitar repairs when he decided to learn how to make them. He met Fender and "heard" that someone in Brazil had a very special guitar called "Chibson". It was your first contact with Gibson. Then a Brazilian investor, also of Japanese origin, proposed the creation of the Tagima brand. To cut costs, your partner came up with the idea of making guitars in China. The problem was that the Chinese did not know Western instruments, they only made Oriental ones. After many prototypes, the Chinese ended up hitting their hands and mass production began. Now Tagima has taken the reverse path. Chinese investors bought the brand and opened a factory in Brazil, with a capacity to build 2,000 units per month. All with legalized wood and many Brazilian woods well known here, with great sound result. I call this company "Nova Tagima" and I'm very excited about their projects.

I have one, it's an entry level Tagima and it really impressed me when I tried cuz it was very, very ocmfortable and it comes with a Varitone switch, all of this for a very low price. It had some minor problems.(a tiny piece of the nut was broken, one of the screws of noe of the saddles were not good either and it had more hum than usual due to poor grounding. Plus I couldn't raise the pickups cuz there's only a piece of rubber supporting it which make some people think the pups are too weak when thay're actually kinda far from the strings). Well, I shielded the guitar myself, put a Graphtech nut, changed the screw and done! Ready to rock! Then I finally.done some mods and change the pickups and I'm really happy with the results.

I love the cut out on the body. I won't call it an 'f' hole, because it's not at all the same style. I like that about it. So many hollowbody cutouts use that same basic shape. This looks as classy as an 'f' hole but has it's own style and the rest of the guitar looks amazing. The price seems right too. I'm never one to complain about small flaws like the burrs in the stop tail screw... I get you want a quality build for what you pay, but man the sound and feel will always come first to me personally over the perfection of every little inch of a guitar. but that green is REALLY nice. Nice job as usual Phil and thanks for exposing me to this brand.
