I’m a female and I LOVE this song. I’ve heard much worse western songs objectifying women. This was barely scratching the surface. They didn’t deserve the hate they got from this song. 😊

This is a fun song, and I never took it seriously or was offended by it. There was no reason for them (RM) to apologize for it. It’s fine that they learned something from the (in my opinion, blown out of proportion) situation.

I think the same way! Looking at it objectively, it's also actually very authentic to the song being about "hormone driven teenagers". 😅 This is definitly real life! But since it's almost cartoon-ish, i never felt offended in any way.

As a 39 years old woman, I was never offended by this fun, almost parodic, song. Yes, it's a little objectifying but far from the misogynist allegations that BTS received. Given the lyrics and themes covered in their albums to date, it is obvious that WoH is a humorous reflection on boys' adolescence.

I feel exactly the same. This song is fun and for me, obviously supposed to be taken with a grain of salt - compared to what is being published in the west with rap songs and even R&B, I feel this song is still very calm. BTS definitely did not deserve the hate they got for this. I loved this song as soon as I heard it and smiled all the way through because the lyrics have a sense of humour to them.😉

Justice for War of Hormone, they didn't deserve any backlash for this song I personally love it. Technically Jungkook (the youngest) was 17 when this music video was made 16 when the song came out, but he was 18 by Korean age and Jin the oldest was 21 by international age.

I was just mentioning that I've not been seeing most guides mention Korean age system and although I know the law recently has changed Koreans still seem to be using it in their daily life still, it can be confusing for new army when watching past content and the members say "I'm 19" or "I'm 21" but they don't know about the Korean age system.

I'm a 59 yr old ARMY who has two grown boys. This song is NOT offensive at all, they're expressing what boys go through during this time period. There is WAY WAY worse songs from American artists that are objectifying. South Korea is a fairly conservative country, so BTS really kind of broke the glass ceiling as far as expressing true feelings through their lyrics. 💜

This honestly is probably one of my favorite songs from the boys. As much hate as they got for it I still love it! Because of this song RM basically got criticized for the writing and lyrics so basically going forward he always consults woman for lyrics going forward. But omg yay I love this journey y’all are on!! I CANT WAIT TILL YALL GET TO MY FAV ALBUMS LATER ON 🥹

I'm a 48year old woman, and I love this song... As the name of the song says, it's a war of hormones, and I can't really find anything degrading against women in the lyrics either. "Women are the best gifts" doesnt sound misogynist to me! But they got a lot of hate for it, mainly because people wanted to hate on them. It's possible to interpret the lyrics as bad, with the mentioning of see through cloths and high heels and looking good from the front and behind, but it's not like they say it in a degratdng way. More like making fun of the war inside their heads.

If we're honest, teenage girls are no different. You think teen girls don't look at guys differently, when they reach puberty? Because we do. And females objectify guys as much as guys do females. We need to be honest about that. Heck, you think BTS haven't been objectified since debut? Because, unfortunately, in some circles they have. And don't we all comment on how good looking they are? (Which they are), but how is that any different? I'm a 54 year old woman, and I absolutely love War Of Hormone.💜 I am so sorry they got so much backlash for it, and I really don't understand why. And they even say"Your beauty is a cultural asset. It should be protected at a national level"... How is that misogynistic?💜🤔

In Korean they got backlash for this song, but female fans in the u.s. liked the song. In Korean they are really conservative so they backlash for this song and RM had to apologize as the leader of the group and as the wrote of the song. Also I think and some k-army have said that antis jumped on the train (it's crazy how much they got back in the day, still do) to blow the issue up even more. I can understand some being conservative and not caring for the subject matter to each their own. But the song was done in a joking manner about what it's like being a teenage boy fighting your hormones something girls deal with too whether they like to admit it or not. The albums called "Dark & Wild" so the members spoke very honestly about emotions at that age. Despite all that happening I think their writing grew a lot from the experience. It was a painful time, RM took it very hard but it made him reevaluate things and I think they really grew from it to be come even better songwriters.

THEIR FIRST THREE ALBUMS TALK ABOUT SCHOOL, AFTER THAT THEY MADE THREE ALBUMS TALKING ABOUTH YOUTH ( FEARS, DOUBTS, DREAMS, PAINS, FEELINGS,) REMEMBER GUYS ADOLESCENCE IS A TOUGH TIME WHERE EVERYBODY IS IN A REAL "WAR OF HORMONES" AND THIS SONG TALK ABOUT THAT. THAT'S WHY WOMEN CAN'T FEEL OFFENDED. THERE WAS CONTROVERSY ABOUT THIS SONG AT THAT TIME ONLY BECAUSE OF THE ANTIS , HATERS OF BTS.THAT'S ALL. I'm a 53 Army since 2017 and I love this song . They were criticized in this song and was labeled misogynist. RM had to apologize about this lyrics and later consults women experts when writing lyrics just so he can't offend anyone. I heard, they no longer perform this song live. So sad, because this song was so good. I wanted to add that they kind of have to tackle any issues related to their age range. They started to talk about finding ones dreams then talk about puppy love and then this era is more about rebellious adolescent so they have to write such lyrics. In the later era, the lyrics will be much better and nicer. P.S., ARMYs, please correct me, nicely, if I wrote something wrong. (:

Yes, that was a trilogy of albums about young people at school, so they talked about all the topics related to it. Because of what they played these songs, and it seems to me that the critics exaggerated, it was supposed to be a comic song, I can't find the right word, something like sarcastic. Many young people, before they mature, think only with their hormones... I think they failed to convey the message well. Anyway, 🤷 That is just my opinion. Greetings and have a nice day.

Almost 50 yo female ARMY here and I love this fun silly song. This was a part of their youth trilogy album. It's realistic facts and I love their authenticity. Yes, Korean culture is more conservative but the objections really just came from haters/other fandoms about RM's solo song, Expensive Girl. They couldn't attack him on that since it was under his personal name, so they took offense on this BTS song. Love re-watching all the live performances for WoH, so fun 💜 React to Boyz with Fun, another song with same vibe 🤣

RM was called misogynistic because he wrote the songs lyrics but personally I didn’t have a problem with the song, to me the lyrics praised women, women were told they were perfect and look good from head to to in the lyrics and I like that. Even now, the majority of armys like war of hormone and want bts to perform it live. I respect RM for growing from the criticism and now coming to professors on women’s studies to see if the lyrics he writes are okay.

I'm a woman and I LOVE this song! It's EXACTLY what 18 year olds coming into their own, trying to put up their "front" because looking and acting cool is important now in the game of attracting the opposite sex....It's a ride we've all been on if you're older then 20! LOL! They are playful, they are having fun - the lyrics don't bother me one bit. This is vanilla AF compared to 99% of the hard rap "popular" songs out these days - This isn't even CLOSE to being offensive! Consider their age here - They are not putting out the same context 10 years later as men....that would feel off. But this song, in this context, at this stage in their age and game - Perfectly fine by me and moreover really entertaining. You need to lighten up if you think otherwise.

I think it was kneitzens from other groups just trying to give hate to the boys, they were becoming popular so it didn't sit well with the three main companys fans in Korea. Well it didn't stop Bts, they just kept coming out with more popular songs till no one could touch them. I've been with them since the beginning, they went through a lot of hardships. Not once did they give up, I fell in love the first time I saw them, never seen any group like them and they just kept outdoing everyone. An amazing group!

Love your discussion about this song and you all got it! Since you react to BTS songs chronologically, you start to get the ideas that a lot of their songs were “snap shots” of their life (I saw some people said this and it totally made sense!) The youngest (JK) were about 18 when this song came and yes… the title said it all😂 Some other people already talked about the issues caused by this song. I just want to say that RM and other members learned and grew from the experience! You can also see that they really love music and are sincere about what they put out. That’s what made us armies! 💜💜💜💜💜

I'm a 54 y.o. female and this is one of my very early favorite BTS songs - my lifelong love of alt-rock was reflected in the driving guitar in this song (similar to my other guitar-heavy fave, "Boy In Luv") I think this song is fun and true-to-life when it comes to both teen girls and boys....the pathetic 'misogynistic' claims made by antis with nothing better to do with their time conveniently forget that the *entire kpop industry* is partially built on teen girls objectifying the boybands and teen boys objectifying the girlgroups....If anyone claims to have a problem with the lyrics of this song, then those hypocritical trolls should be decrying the entire global music industry which is heavily built on sex appeal

I am a 40+ woman and I also love this song. I really think this is tame by any rational study of the lyrics. I really think this was a humorous song about the hormones that are completely normal in an adolescent male’s body. I think it is a disservice for everyone to think that these thoughts are not something that are normal at that time of life. Why anyone doesn’t think that is hard and something we should all appreciate?

Another woman here who loves this song and is sad that they no longer perform this anymore because of the imo, unrealistic, confounded allegations. I think this is a great fun, genuine representation of males during their teenage hormonal stage and I did not find anything offensive about how they portrayed what's real. Even females have similar thoughts about males during those times, it's just that females are better at keeping under wraps than males about it. They wrote an honest song making fun of their boyhood era. For goodness sake, the title is War of Hormones! How much more explicit than that can you get.😄 Anyway, I am enjoying your BTS journey and I am glad you're all getting a pretty good analysis of the songs.💜

As a woman this song never offended me. I found it funny and fun! This was the song that accused them of misogyny which caused RM to be more careful with his lyrics later on, but it was just a true representation of what teenage boys are like and how they think. Everyone knows that. They were just honest enough to actually put it into words (song). Anyone who acted shocked by this is a hypocrite because we have all been teenagers and even us girls would go ga-ga for a nice pair of well worn jeans on a guy and biceps, and abs…😂😂😂😂 Anyway…!!! You get my drift. We grow up and find other things more important on our better halves, but as teenagers we’re all different degrees of immature. Doesn’t make anyone a bad person, though! Awesome song as always!!!!💜💜💜😁

I am a 53yr old woman and understood this song to be from the perspective of a guy. Don't understand WHY soo many Korean women found this offensive. They live in a Patriarchal society and I think it was a copout for the treatment they get in REAL life. Korea's pace and society expectations are different than the States. They do not discuss sex education AT ALL. Its like shun and faux pa. I think its funny how you said that they would put out a song like this and never do it again. This is exactly what happened. Being that they write and compose their music, teens and early 20 somethings are gonna talk about GIRLS in that way. RM, said he won't ever write another song like this before consulting several women to make sure it doesn't offend anyone. I love this song.

JK likely said 18 because that's what he was in the Korean age system but 17 international age. I have been noticing guides not explaining the Korean ages or the system anymore but it's still relevant, even with the law passed changing to International age, now for fans to know because all the past content when they refer to their ages it's their Korean age so it confuses new army.

When The Eldest, Jin joined the compan he already was in university, and with him the same time joined The Youngert JK who was not even in high school yet. there is 6 years between them. Jin laughed that when he was 6 years old JK was born - he doeasn't know anythnig about taking care of a baby. (as the eldest in their group maybe also near there among all the trainees.) but becaus of their culture he took the duties of oldest brother seriously and it is good that he did and not somebody else who might not been as good of a person as Jin is. We have Jin -92 he was literally 21 years 10 months 17 days when this MV came out. Then about 4 months younger we have Suga (but there is New Years between, so they are not yearlings -93). Then almost a full year younger J-hope, and our literal middle child, and greatest leader RM born same year, ( half a year later than J-hope,) so they two are "yearly twins" '94ths. As are Jimin and Tae with each other '95ths, and then JK -97 * We see the song now, 10 years later, and from different culture, and now I as a older lady lift a eyebrow and put little boys like that to their place. But this was in different culture and it was 10 year ago, so my youth and my experience don't apply. Korea is not the most advanced in equality even now, very different from my culture. And it was good that the song caused a storm there - culturally it was good. Of course I want to preotect those little fledgeling boys that they were then, not famous, having big dreams, at the beginning of their musical carieer.. But that is because I found them many years later. And BTS learned from it, and it hopefully made them better men in their culture.

This has always been one of my favorite songs. They are all so cute dancing, expressions, lyrics - so good. But this song did cause RM to be careful on lyrics as he got flak for it.

In 2014 the early years of their career in my view even back then the way they were able to express thoughts, emotions and feelings through their songs, their lyrics however controversial to some are always honest real and relevant to that day and age for them hence why Army could relate💜

I'm 47 & absolutely love this song. It's fun & catchy. Don't find it offensive at all. I take it as them just being the teenage boys they were at that time. A natural state of being. When i first listened to it, I didnt even know there was a controversy until later on. 💜

Loved the reaction, your smiling faces say it all! BTS does a Halloween version of WoH that is hilarious as well. I think you guys should also pay attention to the background (set or location) nuances in BTS MV's, in this case being a boy becoming a man as represented by basketball, bicycles, then cars. Great job, keep going! Borahae!

Everyone knows what it's like to go through puberty, and even if it's difficult for them to cope during this time. War of Hormone just shows how guys feel during that time, especially when it comes to girls they like. So I'm 40 and female, I don't feel attacked in any way and I really don't understand the drama surrounding this song. It's just a song. Nobody is insulted or hurt. But as the saying goes, what doesn't ki** you just make you stronger. But no matter what BTS does, it will be taken for granted then and now. Those guys are so respectful when it comes to interacting with others.

I have always loved this song... it was how they felt at the time, but it was never intended to be offensive in any way... you could tell from the MV that it was just a fun track.... RM copped a heap of grief over the lyrics... he shouldn't have in my opinion... It actually made him guarded in what he wrote after... which I think is a tad sad...

It was supposed to be a comedy song about that age and whats boys are like. And it belongs to one of a trilogy of albums related to the school. AND It was taken very badly at the time, it was strongly criticized, when this song is a criticism and mockery of those topics.... And after RM consults with specialists in women's studies, and did a lot of research on the subject so that it doesn't happen again, .... I think they exaggerated at that time because that's how boys think for a period while they don't mature. The Boy in Luv mv was also somewhat criticized (I don't know how much because I didn't know them at that time) and then they released Boys with Luv in which Halsey participated.

ages work a bit different in korea so when he says he's 18, he's actually 16. you are age 1 the day you are born, not 0, and everyone ages a year on the new year. so since v was born dec 30th 1995, on jan 1st 1996, where we would say he's 2 days old, in Korea he was 2 years old. this was jungkook singing but the same applies. it's just been changed earlier this year so now they're using the same age system as the rest of us but back then yeah... jk was 16. i fucking love this song

I found Bts in late 2016, I went back to predebut Bts and startes their musical journey and growth, found out the misogynistic backlash they received which caused RM(leader) to start having a professor of women's studies to check his lyrics, most likely from general pubic, fans who have grown with Bts knows their album process are life transitional phases(adolescent, youth, young adulthood, adulthood). This song is from the album Dark & Wild, which is a transition album between adolescent and youth.

I always chuckle when I listen to this song or watch this mv and think of the criticism it got because the kpop song that won awards at the end of the same year had a music video with a women on a leash. Never underestimate the hypocrisy of kpop fans and how unserious they are about things…they only act moral when they want to bring negative attention to another group. This is a song that was on an album that was part of their youth trilogy. What’s more truthful than a bunch of teen boys singing about what they feel about girls in high school? they are (hilariously) saying whats on the minds of every dumb boy that age .. and many grown men still. The difference is that BTS have educated themselves and evolved as all humans should when they become adults.

New to BTS, late last year and I stumbled on a discussion on TikTok about this being a misogyny anthem. Heart in my chest (because here I was falling in love with this group and they already have a misogynistic song), I went to listen and I was so disappointed. It was not giving the vibe I was expecting at all and I was so grateful for that. Anyway, WOH is such a fun, almost ridiculous song that should be taken as what it is. I love it

Female here, this song is awesome! One of my favorite. It was really fun~ I was a hormonal girl once, and I used to talk about boys and be crazy about boys with my girlfriends. Is just part of growing up! and this song is true and comical as well. I would say every time I hear this song, I just take it as it is, young hormonal boys singing about girls/women. And preferred these infinitive times rather than Western music which sexualizes and objectifies women all the time. You said it in the video, not comparable at all. Reason number one is that for instance, I don't enjoy reggaeton even if the production music sounds fun to dance to. It makes me cringe...even more when I see young girls/boys dancing to it. 😵‍💫 In BTS context, is so much fun seeing their discography, and seeing how they make songs that they relate to. Their music grows with them. And it's beautiful :)

Ill be honest this song had me in the beginning but I was more confused trying to understand the meaning and lyrics then i was offended by what they were saying because i know the boys are not like that but in all in the video they were goofing off with each other and being silly goobers so yea it would just make you wanna crack a smile seeing them be quirky like that. Plus the beat is a vibe. Also about a year or so ago I found out the true meaning of this song I've been an ARMY since 2015 and the entire time of being an ARMY I never felt offended of the song I still listen to it today but i listen to it a lot more often now then back then that's for sure. 😅😂😭😍🤩😘

I'm a woman and a strong supporter of the feminist movement, especially the latest waves that show more inclusion for feminine presenting people of colour, members of the LGBTQIA+, working-class women and so on (so the non-racist, non-homophobic, non-transphobic, non-classist/elitist kind of feminism). The first time I watched this video I didn't have the lyrics on, so I kind of missed the actual meaning of it. I was still in my early stages of getting into BTS' discography, and at the time, it was much more confusing to navigate through the massive amount of content they put out and didn't really know how much work goes into their lyrics. I just thought, looking at the release date, that they were playing the "boys being boys" competing against each other to win the girl's attention. The song itself was nice, the video was funny and a little cringy, but it was still okay. After a little while of me being in the fandom, I discovered that this song and some older BTS' songs have been accused of being misogynistic in the past. When I read the lyrics, even though I can see the "problematic" elements of slight objectification and stereotypes of gender roles, what I think really comes through with the lyrics is more of a commentary on these things. In songs like War of Hormone (especially with a title like this lol) I think that overall they aren't promoting the stereotypes but rather taking the piss out of them and being self-ironic. The songs from their school era that talk about love problems in a more serious tone, still sound like social commentary, coming from their own personal experience, about the struggles of young men navigating through puberty to find their own place in their gender expression as men and exploring those strong feelings that come from the first interactions with love/attraction. Like, the angst that comes from their most aggressive love songs, in my opinion, doesn't sound like it's as simple as them lashing out at girls for not loving them back. There's a deeper, more introspective element that suggests frustration with themselves for having those thoughts. For relying so much on their crush's opinion rather than being confident in their masculinity; for centring their lives on love (especially a one-sided one) and losing focus on other stuff they care about; for not being able to recognise that those toxic relationships also come from their approach on love, where they put on this mask of what they think a real man should act like rather than being themselves and finding someone that likes them for who they are. So, in my opinion, the misogyny accusations are a bit too much and maybe even a sabotaging move to paint the boys (especially the ones that participated the most in writing the group's lyrics) in a negative light in front of the general public. To this incident, Big Hit released an official apology and RM (Namjoon) talked about how he realised that his words have a lot more meaning than he originally thought and that he's working on improving himself by even getting his lyrics examined by women's studies professors before their release to make sure the content and delivery is more inclusive. Not to mention that (spoiler alert), later in their career, they released a trilogy of albums centred around the theme of self-love, which kind of established their pure intention of the time to just show their real struggles as young boys rather than these machismo-promoting devils they were painted as. So even if you had any doubts about their agenda, the maturity and growth they showed in front of the accusations go to show that it matters a great deal to them to acknowledge their mistakes and learn from them to become better people. I much rather encourage someone like that than people who pretend like they've always been perfect and gloss over their mistakes as if it wasn't them.

This comment is so long I wouldn't even call it a comment anymore lol but I hope it clarifies my stand on this song and all of their other school-era songs and how much I appreciate the boys for being the best kind of allies: showing support without self-victimisation, staying humble and educating themselves, making sure their music can be a safe space for everybody without any discrimination and trying their hardest to be those role models for younger men they struggled to find at their time.

No hate for this classic BTS pop bop. BTS has always written songs about where they are in their lives and this is no different. They were in their late teens/early twenties and you would have to be crazy to think that at that age women didn't cross their minds.
