Back around the time of the San Francisco earthquake, my grandfather worked for the railroad in Truckee. After a couple of years, he went back to PEI to visit family. They tried to get him to stay on the Island, but he wanted to go back to the railroad, fully intending to go back to Truckee area. He made it as far as Portland, Maine, where he worked before going to California. He stopped in to see friends, was offered a job at the railroad and stayed. He never went back to Truckee. I have his railroad pocket watch that he purchased at a jewelry store in K Street in San Francisco according to the note he put with it.

In the late 70's we lived up there near Meyers. We lived in Christmas Valley, on Blitzen Road. We moved there right after high school, married and had our first child there. 25 years later we took our 5 children up there skiing. I love all the beautiful nature of Tahoe. I remember when they would dynamite blast to keep Echo Summit from avalanching on motorists. Traffic would be backed up for miles. Stay safe and enjoy life.

We had a blizzard last weekend. Nothing like you have, but a blizzard nonetheless. The snow was up past the back bumper of my car - well over my knees. Theres no way we can get out We knew this storm was coming, so we had time to prepare with supplies etc. We will be getting plows coming through tommorrow - a week after the big dump of snow. Do want you can, around the house, without over doing it or hurting yourself. Pace yourself. Otherwise wait for plows. Make sure your house vents ( if you have any) are cleared of snow.

Always the guy snowblowing his problem onto his neighbor's property...at this point just keep it low and into the road right? They haven't touched the road
@stevenbernier42064 ай бұрын
Why would you blow it on to the road when the plow is going to push it right back? The neighbor probably doesn't care, at least around here we work together and the way the wind was blowing that was the most efficient to get it totally clear over the road as long as you're not getting it on someone's driveway.
@spamdatgd63264 ай бұрын

Everyone with KZbin and a phone is cashing in on the big scary snowstorm in the mountains. 🥱
@markthomas2073 ай бұрын
The the way it is, I guess. I was on the eastern side of the mountains yesterday (Saturday). I wasn't all that impressed. Snowfall totals along HWY 395 weren't much at all. Snow level was 5000. I suppose way up on Mammoth mountain things were happening, but some wind gusts on the highway was enough for Caltrans to close it. The little hotel I had a reservation with, told me that Caltrans told them to shut down on Friday because they already planned to shut down the road. I have been trying to get storm snowfall numbers in the Tahoe area, it's not easy, but it's safe to say around 2 feet. Then the wind blew it into big drifts, and everyone is taking to calling this an epic storm. It is still officially winter and what we have seen of this storm looks rather typical of the I-80 chaos when it snows.
