Was there last week and the snow was ok. Nothing like last year where it was like driving through a snow maze. Snow was way over the cars and homes were buried.

I was just at heavenly 3 days ago and there actually was a decent amount of sow at the top it snowed like a foot every where that was above the gondola. And there was good powder in the trees. It’s true they are a little behind but it is still rideable. And on the Nevada side i saw a lot of runs open

THey did get good snow up top but only rain down lower. You are brave man going into the trees!

Last year it was record breaking amount of snow and it was amazing riding through the powder that whole week. Im going back next week and im so sad to see this

I was at heavenly yesterday and it was fine. Theres enough snow to enjoy skiing however theres a few icey spots, There should be snow coming in very soon.

Seems like it's a coast to coast problem this year. No snow here in Vermont, either. It's been continuously above freezing for a week now. We've had dense fog and flooding, but precious little snow. Hope you get a nice dump of Tahoe snow soon.

It's scary how little snow there is on the west coast mountain range. We finally got some here, but not a lot. I can't believe how little you have. The year I was there, it was amazing! It was the same year the movie Hot Tub Time Machine came out, which is funny because I watched the movie after I was there and now I think of winter Tahoe when I see it. LOL

@@tahoemountainlife It was in February of 2010. I remember everyone saying it was the best snowfall they'd had in years, it was beautiful! I did a little XC skiing, I think it was at the Fallen Leaf Lake campgrounds. Sooo pretty! I brought back a few sugar pinecones and some of the huge softball sized ones too, not sure what tree they came from, but I love them! I definitely want to come back again!

A little icy? Thank god for man-made snow. What a difference a year makes. I'm at Rose and we're dealing with the same conditions. Intermediate runs and lots of flatlanders.

Gotcha. Yea I guess the term icy is dependent on your normal ski conditions where you live. I know the east coasters would consider these conditions reasonable but yea compared to last year they are horrible.

The crazy thing is that everyone was hyping up el nino this year and so far it isn't delivering in the slightest. This will be the worst December for snow in probably a decade. Every storm seems to lose all strength as it hits CA. Maybe it'll pick up in January, but I'm not holding my breath.

Have skied Tahoe since the mid-70's. Pass holder here for the last 20 years. Heavenly, especially, has ALWAYS been feast or famine. If snowfall is slightly below average, people whine about climate change. When there's a big winter, like last year, others cite this as irrefutable evidence that it doesn't exist. Most people find both sides to be quite tiresome, and hope for (at least) an "average" season, and try to enjoy the snow as much as possible, regardless of the depth.

Not in my opinion. I'm not willing to risk my skis or body with such poor coverage. Also many areas you can lose your pass if you duck the ropes.
