The slow part starting @ 3:05 was a kind of pair unison not seen for the last 40 years!

Saddest words said in 1980 Olympics, "They have withdrawn."

I watched it live. I was so devastated I couldn't even cry. I had a stomach ache for days. They were (and are) superheroes to me.

OH, me! one of those "what ifs" of history! 1980 and Lake Placid was theirs for the taking! I will never forget that Friday night when Randy kept falling during the short program then walked off the ice with Tai sobbing after they had to withdraw.

He had an injury on his thigh or leg that's why he kept falling down so much during their short program

Would've been epic. Soviet icons versus American youth. Who knows? But the stage was set for Tai & Randi. As it was for U.S. Hockey. Yet we saw what happened to Linda in Ladies Long. Alas...

@@bernieudo4399 What happened to Linda in long?

@@waynehentley4332 Many would argue she was victim of vote trading. Given '02 fiasco & Dick Button interviews pre '02 it was common to either just low ball skater (most judges) or trade vote (mark a skater high w/promise a judge will mark yours high in different event). Guess judges figured IOC couldn't figure out "lateral" vote rigging. So sad.

@@waynehentley4332 Linda won both short and long, but could not catch Annett who lead after the compulsories.

They were beloved. Sadly you kind of ended up hoping the teams ahead of them would fall too, to keep them in contention. But the Soviet teams were super talented veterans. Who put in workman like performances.

Considering she was 15 and he was 17 that was awesome.

Yes it is he's older than Tai cause she's 15 and Randy is 17 they're like brother and sister

Takes time to skate as one. They were the one. Ready to challenge the Soviet icons. Could've been a Final for the Ages. 🇺🇸
