Brilliant. As an Ekrimador, I still gained SO much understanding and insight from your vid above. Thankyou so much, Earle for sharing the knowledge with us all. You make me consider combining my Eskrima with Tai Chi training also. At present, I cross train Western Boxing, and within that science also, I gained much insight and understanding from watching your vid. Once again, thanking you Sifu.

A phenomenal video. Yes, difficult to believe if you haven't trained in internal power and explosive fajin strikes. Good friends and family still don't get it. They see the power etc but can't grasp the internal concept. People who have and have learnt/experienced the system/feelings will not frown and dismiss this incredible system/ability! I taught myself, over 7 years to date, and it is a constant learning curve. Unfortunately didn't have an Erle Montaigue 24/7 to guide me but observed many of his videos, in particular the sudden violence series!! Saw Eli for a one to one but wasn't fully loose or understanding the system. His abilities on mitts encouraged me to continue learning. Trained much more until I learnt/grasped fajin and then saw one of his colleagues. I had significant power at this point, but still was over thinking and not totally aware of the whens and whys. Further training, actually less intense and with a break, helped me get back on the correct path. Not thinking is incredibly important!! That, to who hasn't learnt, will sound instantly foreign. I can instantly strike with zero thought, ALL fajin strikes without needing to move my body's position beforehand. Of course, at times, that will leave you with a bit less instant explosive power than if you can briefly step or turn first. The feeling you get with reptilian brain training is incredible. Proper breathing, Phenomenal balance, Eagle vision-slightly blurred, arched back, arms hanging and heavy feeling. Also a floating feeling sometimes before dropping. Tongue on hard palate. No fear. Violent but NOT angry etc etc etc etc. Unless you've learnt and felt these feelings, you simply can't understand and will continue to believe the western movies external force, being huge and muscular must be best. Yes, in movies lol... Working on a builders site, lifting weights in a gym.... In the street, internal power with fajin is likely the most effective system, end of. You learn to fight without gloves, the hands move and close naturally and there's no pain to them or the wrist, forearms etc when you strike very heavy punchbags due to how the energy and force is dissipated. You realise quickly if you've accidentally used external power when first training. Bloody painful. Part of the learning process lol. But you need to be sufficiently skilled in the above points PLUS have the intent/violence to do it and preemptively. Like other comments, I'm not intending to use it unless no choice. I train on bags, strike shields and mitts. That's enough to know how effective it is! It's about it becoming subconscious, awareness, avoidance but if necessary due to the closeness and instant threat, not hesitating and striking first, well before Mr external power has even started to pull an arm back to swing.
@sadypack
@sadypack 2 жыл бұрын
you said you train on bags, strike shields , and mitts. How can you progress in your fighting if you're always training on inanimate objects? Surely you need to practice with someone to understand some of what Erle's talking about (like feelings your opponent weight, or even the hands movement) these can't be learnt with objects, right?
@James-RJM
@James-RJM 2 жыл бұрын
@@sadypack My intention and focus was on learning fajin, which I've done and I'm continuing and improving daily through training on my bag or with others holding my strike shield or mitts. For the last 2 they either stand still or move/push against me and all strikes are from a few inches to about a foot away. They are simulating me having no option but to preemptively strike an aggressor who's in my face so still quite realistic! It's about being loose and instantly violent, getting into reptilian brain but then doing close strikes again and again and again with solely fajin and remaining in that system and not reverting back to stiff/external force. Easier said than done! Making it a subconscious. Being able to keep striking and staying sung means that if in a real scenario, I'll likely strike from my waist subconsciously once or maybe two/three times and walk away uninjured. Meantime it keeps me fit and far happier mentally. The friends so far haven't learnt fajin, yet, unfortunately. Of course I want to do other training with people, like when I saw Eli and one of his colleagues for a one to one, but they both moved far away and any reputable instructors aren't close to me currently.

These guys just came up on my feed and it has been interesting to watch and learn a bit from the. I see a lot of ignorance and disrespect in some of the responses on many of the videos. What is being demonstrated is often not a fighting technique, but a way to train the body to be able to defend oneself effectively if necessary. I do agree, it would be great to see Taiji guys actually pressure testing their art, but that isn't necessarily the point of these videos. The internal arts have a lot to offer and I have taken what I've ;earned in my own Taiji practice and used it very effectively in BJJ as well as twice on the streets in self defense. I think people need to talk less and listen more and not just with their ears. Thank you for your work!

Thank you for sharing this info. Regarding the hands at about the 18 minute mark, R hand is outside with a R foot lead. I notice a few minutes later you step with the left but the hands stay the same. Are they always R hand on the outside or do they alternate based on the lead foot during the standing practice. Or does it not matter which is inside/outside hand? Thanks again.

+Moontagu Thank you Eli. I have been using this hand position during training and static postures. Holding the wrists/hands in this way seems to send a great deal of energy (felt as heat) through the wrist points/hands for me. I notice when I 'fire' from this position after building the energy, it is an explosive strike. I will keep exploring this posture. Thank you again.

You’re right, and you are wrong. His concept of having the form imbedded in your subconscious is very important. Without having the form practiced ten thousand times, correctly, one will not understand the way of that particular style was designed to be used. The body will not understand the the subtle micromanagement. Yes, one needs to have developed song in order to use fa jin, but without one’s Yi focus (yi nian), then the fight is already lost. That’s what he is referring to. Actually this sifu has much to impart, and his example of kicking is weak, to be sure. Could be age. I don’t know, but the message is not incorrect.

i havnt seen one person write that the forms ,instead of getting stuck in the classical mess every form must be broken down into what works and what doesnt under pressure testing then you put them back together and ontop of that and this def shows the down syndrome kung fu level this is ,not 1 person has asked or enlightened anyone by asking where are all the hidden elbows and knees in the 3 dummy forms ,you know why ,its because their all high on their own crap and blinded by their own ego that they truly believe this is good lol they are both in deep denial and both stuck in whats called the classical mess ,wich again shows the low knollage level

vs BJJ grappling ? Very likely to lose badly. Of course even BJJ would lose against a gun. So I think the time has come to reconsider what the goal is. Is it strength of force to defeat the enemy ? This isn't the best way, a gun is. And if we turn to spirituality / health, is this the best way ? The world has changed.

This guy can't even kick. He is talking rubbish. You have to have fa jin in internal martial arts. It means internal power. You have to have strength to overcome an opponent. Every body has jin. Without jin you cannot fight gravity. Through the practice of nei gong or zhan zhong etc you can strengthen jin. Jin is a parasympathetic function.but You can become aware of it with practice . And it takes a long time. The physical feeling of jin is a kind of pressure in the body. All good when you are standing still. The moment you move the pressure goes away because you change function.you still have jin of course but not powerfully enough to fight with. So you have to learn shen. It means the will power to keep the jin pressure or fa jin while moving. Intent or yi is to move jin and jin moves the body. There is no subconscious rubbish. It's all consciousness. We are tired of all these charlatans making money on the innocence of beginners . And more importantly give a bad name to our art.
