Have you guys thought of developing a 5C lever collet closer system for this? It would make production work much "smoother" in my opinion.

Not only have we though about it, but plans have been drawn and cost estimates made. Result........ Too expensive. Sorry:(

Takes a pretty smart cookie to figure all that out for such a simple piece.

Can you make a video about all the components of a your full cnc lathe package that goes for $3800. I would like to see all the items and possibly an assembly of everything to get up and running as it comes packaged from the factory. Thanks!

The 4029 DSLS Is what I'm using in my videos. It actually comes pretty much assembled. By looking at the videos you should be able to see where everything goes:)

Yea, I was hoping to see how compact the stepper drive unit is etc. does it connect via usb? That kind of money, I would like to see all the cnc components I would be getting. In the videos, I see the steppers and the machine itself. Where is the rest of it?
@jjjherzog7 жыл бұрын
It uses a USB connection by way of a UC 100 kzbin.info/www/bejne/amapdn2eg5xjnqM Please contact www.microproto.com for further information. Most all the videos are "volunteer" projects. It is not my job at TAIGTOOLS. I am in final assembly.

4:55 im back. clearance is bigger than actual cut xD. you cut feed 5x longer. 0.1 is 2.54 mm. omg that ages on cnc

is the center drill even necessary? I would have put a facing operation in there just to make every part identical instead of relying on the stop. looks fun

No not at all with Delrin. However, The video was to show mass production. I should have done a more serious job of making the actual part :)

Now you can chamfer the id with the corner of the end mill, and the backside od with the cut off tool.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

This is good stuff. I still have a very early Taig Micro Lathe from the early '70s.

I thought about using the boring bar to chamfer the id, but I must admit, I like your idea better.... The end mill was right there :) Nice post :)

That's Awesome!! Now we just need a lever actuated release for the collet to ramp up production speed please!!

Maybe next year, a design is on the table as an add-on.

that's great, its definitely a must have if this machine is to be used for serious production. Still a great machine at an affordable price point. Hope to put one in my shop in the future! Gerald

Any way to add a bar puller or feed and auto chuck to this? So that you could load material and cut multiple parts without intervention. Will this cut brass and copper?
@jjjherzog9 ай бұрын
There are many after market "Bar Feeders" that can be made to fit the TAIG 5C HEADSTOCK. The headstock will cut anything using the proper cutters and speed.
@AndrewAMG_9 ай бұрын
Do you still have to manually lock the chuck?
@jjjherzog9 ай бұрын
The 5C headstock is designed to be used with 5C collets and they can be closed with an aftermarket air collet closing system. I don't know of any aftermarket Chuck that is air closed. As I said before, the entire system is designed to be used with precision collets.

How big a part could be used in the taig 5c
@jjjherzog Жыл бұрын
From the 5C centerline to the bottom of the mounting dovetail is 2.284 inches. The swing over the bed is a radius of 3.870". The swing over the cross slide is a radius of 1.750". These are the measurements of the one used at the shop.

All while using a digital camera hooked to a modern computing platform recording billions of byte of video data?? why would you do this instead of windows paint or cad??? analog drawing with a digital machine about a digital machine! The devils work i tell ya!!!! Burn the witch!!!!!
