Once saw a local metal band drummer literally wreck a taiko machine because he was hitting the thing like he was actually on stage lol. As an experienced taiko player i can say that the challenge is a nice motivator. Also since there's not really many inputs (only 4), you start getting better quick once you learn the patterns. It's just a matter of not giving up in the beginning i think...
