I have a Seallynx Bengal. His tail ended up getting a dislocation and after several weeks it didn't go back on it's on I just gave it a quick tug not hard but firm. Now I will say because to this day I feel like I might have done it. But when he came in the bathroom I played helicopter with his tail. He never got mad or acted like it hurt him. His tail was over 13 inches long. I do remember closing his tail in a door. And truthfully it could have been done by my son's girlfriend at the time. What happens is I noticed a lump in his tail about where the dislocation was and where I had played helicopter. When it didn't go away I had our vet, who was very old and before he retired used a dirty needle on one of my precious bengals and almost gave that same cat 2 of the same shot. We had to stop him. In his defense his health was failing fast. Anyway after he tired to draw out blood and nothing happened until Skye jerked his tail pooping off the syringe needle still in tail then blood flew everywhere. He said just leave it alone. Well he was selling the business and a great young couple bought it. I took him to the because it got bigger and bigger while I waited the couple,of months for them to take over to the point Skye could barely lift his tail. The managed to get some cells out and he had cancer and had his tail removed and she even went several vertebrae up to be sure she got all the cancer. So my question to you is did I do this playing helicopter with his tail. Or was it due to the trauma and my relocating his tail. Or just happened. I am not even sure the lump was in the same place as the dislocation. He is happy and healthy and has really toned down being head honcho but he picked on all the others (females) all spayed by 12 weeks. Now when he is looking for warmth and cuddles the don't want him near and at over 10 lbs he gets heavy laying on my chest. I might add I am the mommy to the cats and the only one that can do anything with them or play anyway with them including his helicopter. I have a suspicion my oldest son's girlfriend at the time might have hurt him as she hated him and he knew,it too. PLEASE HELP ME RELIEVE MY MIND THAT I DIDNT CAUSE HIM CANCER PLAYING HELICOPTER. IMHAVE NEVER DONE THAT TO ANOTHER CAT SINCE. AND I HAVE ANOTHER SEALLYNX BENGAL AND SHE HAS A VERY LONG TAIL. I call her my Cheetah Bengal because she plays more like a wilder cat.

My cat had her tail cut off on a glider rocking chair. She was so mad. But she is ok now and still has a longish tail they only had to take a inch off so it’s only a half a tail.

One of my cats got his tail broken - the space between the 3rd ad 4th vertebrae after the tail-head was bigger then a vertebrae... Had to be amputated... Poor guy is better now and all his urinary problems have subsided too (at first he could not pee and I had to express him, and after a while he peed involuntarily when washing his butt). As for a polydactyl kitten... I wonder if this could evolve into an opposable thumb... in few (hundred) generations :) (yes, I dream about uplifted cats ;) )
@joselynpalmas24142 жыл бұрын
How soon did you amputate the tail? and how long was he not able to pee on his own?
@andrzej25012 жыл бұрын
@@joselynpalmas2414 The same day I noticed it. I can't say how soon after the injury I noticed it since he is a very free-spirited cat and spends a lot of time outside in the summer and is black so is not that clearly visible at night but I would say about a day and half. It was so long ago I don't recall precisely but I would say about a week. Then for about the same amount of time he was sometimes peeing involuntarily. All the swelling had to go down.

Did u neuter the cat before letting it go? also polydactle cats are the result of being inbred
@PinkAndTheKeytarCat7 жыл бұрын
It's actually not caused by being inbred! It's just a genetic trait that some cats have and some cats don't. It's usually inherited, but can be caused by several different genetic mutations that make the multiple feet. You don't often see it in quality show cats (who are all somewhat inbred, in order to keep their breeds pure) because it's not a desirable trait and so it gets bred out. Breeding some kinds (often radial hypoplasia) of polydactyl cats to other polydactyl cats makes offspring that can't walk well. This is why cities with extreme feral cat populations, where the cats /are/ inbred, don't have huge numbers of polydactyl cats; inbred polydactyl kittens don't survive long enough to reproduce. (to oversimplify the issue, anyway)

22400345 940375010 holy fuck. that's too long for me to waste my time reading. it's from being inbred
