Tail Lights NOT Working

Oh man, tell me about T. I can’t tell you how long I was regretting this. And so happy it all ended up being easy. As usual there were 3 problems all at once.

Last year I finally used a pair of 1157's that I bought from Kmart about 15 tears ago. The sticker price for the pair was $1.57. Last time I looked at Wal-Mart two 1157's were almost $7.00. I'm glad we kept our old bulbs, you know when one burns out, you replace two and keep the old one that still works? Those. I bought new 1156 and 1157 box of 10 of each, on Amazon for REAL cheap. But...the tips of the bulbs that makes contact is like solder. In a year, the 1157's don't work because the tip wears away until it doesn't make contact.

Yeah, I noticed this new crap doesn’t hold up as long as the old stuff. At least it seams like that. I do keep all my old bulbs. In fact the bulb I replaced on the left side was an old bulb because I didn’t feel like driving to O’Reilly’s.

the switch device can be a common problem sometime it can be wiring shorted or blown bulb or one major thing is rodents chew and that the worst to happen. yeah the switch can corroded over time in a few years. I had a problem like that on the brake light switch back in 2013 on a 95 Ram 1500 at night and the switch happen to be in split.

For all the reasons you listed I was not looking forward to working on this. But it ended up not being so bad. But as usual there was 3 problems all at once.

That’s a damn good question. I never thought to check Nathan. Ok, it’s on my list now. But I also still have bigger fish to fry. The fill tube O ring is leaking. I filled it the other day and was leaving a gas trail everywhere I drove. I’m lucky there were no open flames near by.
