I use mine for hours every day for work, exercise, & non-VR gaming (I use Quest 3 for VR gaming; hopefully, Virtual Desktop will be released soon for the AVP). For me, the key was to switch to the KKCOBVR halo-style headstrap. I have the battery suspended from the rear of the strap in a horizontal phone case, with a 250W male-to-female pigtail adaptor which allows me to easily connect/disconnect AC or a chained battery. This setup allows me to wear the AVP without the light shield, which increases the perceived FoV & peripheral vision. The successor should be lighter, cheaper, & have WiFi 6E. I view the current model as a technology demonstrator & market tester.

Between this and Apple intelligence it seems to show a real shift in Apple's philosophy. It used to be things being ready to go at scale right away. Basically in its final form in terms of being a consumer-facing product. But between Apple intelligence not being ready or functional for the iPhone 16 and Apple vision pro, we're seeing a deviation from that. I'm sure part of it is market pressure to not be too late to penetrate market share of the AR / AI markets. The users seem to be an afterthought at this point
@MS-ot2cz18 сағат бұрын
Things they recently got right day one: Apple Watch, Apple Pencil, AirPods. Apple hasn’t had things perfected out of the gate for awhile, this isn’t just starting. For example Maps and the iPhone. At launch the iPhone was derided for a number of omitted things competitors had or that it did differently: - No carrier subsidy (“overpriced”) - Made of glass (heavier/breakable) - No removable battery - No physical keyboard - No expandable storage - No Outlook/Exchange Server - No Adobe Flash Player The Vision Pro catches flak for a few similar things: - “Overpriced” - Made of glass (heavier/breakable) - No Included Controllers - Tethered battery Its main issue IMO is the technology required to get it exactly where we want it to be (unlimited FOV, ultra high res visuals, built in battery with all day life) doesn’t really exist yet. Perhaps we need new display tech that isn’t reliant on pushing “pixels” or “polygons” for motion and 3D. That could allow for processors that don’t require so much power and generate so much heat. Maybe we need another way to power these things (wireless power?). I don’t see this as a failure at all. Most people can’t even afford it so weren’t the target market. Those that could, actually like it but see its shortcomings and have relayed that back to Apple. Nothing new under the early adopter Sun. Plus consider the 1 button mouse. lots of people HATED that (and still do) even though it’s quintessentially Mac.

I’m one of those early adopters and am very glad they made the Vision Pro available to everyone. While I agree it's cumbersome, I don’t really find it all that heavy-but I've always used it with the dual loop strap. At first, I just used it for watching Apple Immersive videos and 3D movies. But when we got the ultrawide Mac Virtual Display, I now spend half of my time with AVP doing work with multiple large windows side-by-side and the rest of my time viewing spatial content and 3D movies. The AVP has enormous promise. I do think it’s Tim Cook's pet project and, as such, I'm hoping it will continue to improve over time. Frankly, I'm content for that progress to be focused on software for the time being. Apple Immersive content needs to be produced more frequently, ideally with a fixed release schedule (perhaps by rotating through the various categories) such that new content drops at least every few weeks, not just sporadically.
