Zhongshan Station is not considered “Japan Town”by locals here in Taiwan. Yes, the MRT announcement is in Japanese but there is also a few other stations that are announced in Japanese such as Dongmen Station because it is a tourist destination. If you really want to check out a neighborhood that is considered to be an area of people from another country you should check out the “Burmese street” in ZhongHe located at the end of the orange line at Nanshijiao station. That area has many ethnic Chinese people from Burma. You will find loads of Burmese restaurants, tea shops, and stores there.

I’m not so sure about your description of Zhongshan. I’ve walked through that area and noticed many different Japanese restaurants and shops. I’ll have to check out the ZhongHe area sometime

I have lived in Taipei since 2006. I can speak Mandarin fluently and have never heard anyone say that area is called "Japan Town" 日本城 or "Little Tokyo" 小東京. Yes, there are a lot of Japanese restaurants and Japanese "brand" shops in that area. It's not like the neighborhood is full of Japanese expats living there. By the way, there are 13 MRT stations that announce the stop in Japanese throughout the whole system.

During Japanese Era, the area was full of Japanese and western style mansions. A lot of consulates were there including USA and China（ironically ROC)’s consulates during 1930s. The former USA consulate ( became embassy after 1949 for a period of time) is now “SPOT - Taipei Film House”. Also, “MAISON ACME” was a Western style mansion for example. Grand Hotel’s site was formerly “Taiwan Grand Shrine”（a high ranked Japanese shrine). “Dance Cafe 蔡瑞月舞蹈社” was a Japanese style mansion in the past. Linsen Park was a Japanese cemetery. There are still some toriis gates standing today. AK walked in the park in one of his videos, but did not go passing by the torii gates. “Tiao Tong 條通Shopping District” (formerly大正町、御成町)of Zhongshan was full of Japanese bars in 1970s and 80s. It was packed with Japanese doing business in Taiwan. Now it is still promoted as a “Japanese district”. … at least Japanese bar area. There are still a lot of Japanese restaurants and bars in the area.

I’m not so sure about that. There are also many different types of NYC trains. The numbered trains of the NYC Subway are noticeably smaller in width than the lettered trains.
