Taipei Taiwan Travel Tips (Scams)

Taiwan when compared to China and Southeast Asia has very little in the way of tourist scams. Sometimes I wonder if it's better to recommend people see those places first before visiting Taiwan-that way they will truly appreciate the people and culture. I haven't even touched on how safe it is to leave personal belongs at a table in a cafe or on the train when you need to go to the washroom.
Westerners will find it refreshing to visit night markets and other tourist spots without being constantly hassled to buy something or hire a taxi or book a tour. You also won't have people constantly approaching you asking you where you're from, leading into some proposition. The environment simply doesn't exist. The aggressiveness towards tourists is almost non-existent wherever you go. Taiwan has a well developed economy and infrastructure for people so there isn't the same need to pray on tourists like in many emerging regions throughout Southeast Asia.
There are a few things to watch out for and I think I've covered off most of them in the video. If I've missed anything to let me know and I will follow up with a part 2 video.

Love Taipei! I lived there for 5 years! Would always consider coming back for the right opportunity!

I would recommend don't go to Taipei 😉 better to countryside of Kaohsiung, Tainan of Pintung.

My son went to Taiwan.. He says the people were great and he had a wonderful time however... He did meet a group of men that tried to lure him into a room, they kept telling him :you go in there.. Go on and see you will like... He just kept saying no to them and eventually they stopped hassling him to go into this mystery room... guess we, ll never know what was waiting behind that closed door

Yes very few things tourists need to watch out for. There is definitely scamming in Taiwan, phone scams, fake repair/delivery people, directed towards locals.
