"Taistojen Tiellä" - Finnish Communist Song

The song was originally composed by Hannes Konno as a march for the Civil Guard with the name "Farewell Fatherland" in the 1920s until Ludvig Kosonen rewrote it as a communist song. The song in its current form was written by Knut Kangas in 1929. The song was almost completely forgotten in the late 1930s and during the war as communism was heavily suppressed in Finland during that time. But it saw a resurgence some time after the war and remains one of the most popular working class songs in Finland.

Kappaleen on alunperin säveltänyt Hannes Konno 1920-luvulla "Hyvästi Isänmaa" -nimisen siviilivartioston marssiksi, kunnes Ludvig Kosonen kirjoitti sen uudelleen kommunistiseksi lauluksi. Kappaleen nykyisessä muodossaan on säveltänyt Knut Kangas vuonna 1929. Laulu unohdettiin lähes kokonaan 1930-luvun lopulla ja sodan aikana, kun kommunismi oli tuolloin Suomessa tukahdutettu voimakkaasti. Mutta se nousi uudelleen jonkin aikaa sodan jälkeen ja on edelleen yksi suosituimmista työväenluokan lauluista Suomessa.
