Simply gorgeous Taiwan swirl and that flat stick rocks! It really does make a difference! You are very good at teaching. The only thing I'd like to know more about is ratio's of water to lye, doing water discounts and using other liquids as part of the recipe bit added at a later time. I appreciate your asking us! Have a lovely weekend and hope to see ya join our next soap collaboration! Hugz, Tree
@TreeMarieSoapworks

Thank you! The flat stick is definitely the most popular. 💖 I will add your requests to my lists. I do "discount" my water. I usually use 25% "Water as percent of oil weight" in soapcalc, which is usually around 1.8:1 water to lye. Do you use soapcalc? For adding other liquids, you can use a 1:1 water to lye ratio to dissolve your lye and add the rest of your liquids weight to your oil mixture. Hope this makes sense. Here is a link to some very helpful science articles. I learned lots from Kenna's science articles. www.modernsoapmaking.com/category/soap-science/

If you are adding liquids with sugars in them, this can cause your batch to heat up. Be careful about that. Keep and eye on it and soap at cooler temps.

Being more of an electronics guy, especially consistent temperature solutions, I wonder if there is some sort of "magical temperature" through the gelling phase? If so, an insulated box that opens if too hot and closes again when cooled down should be perfect. Like a greenhouse automatic window thing. Yes I would love to be able to use the soap calulator. Also I know which oils I want but how do figure out which oil should be which % of the recipes. And finally how do you use addem ingredients like clay or fruit or vegetable pulp are they part of the soap recipes or are they part of the super fats part of the recipes. I know thw at least 60 to 65 % of the whole recipes be hatd oils for a hard bar and less for a soft bar but at which point would the soft bar just becomes liquid scum or liquid soap. By the way you are the first soaper on line I have actually written to. Your soaps are elegant simplicity at its best There is something in your voice that speaks to my spirit. Saying that this is voice can be trusted. Thank you sharing your beautiful soaps. Thank you for taking the time to teach us how you make your beautiful soaps. Blessed be.

Wow, so nice of you to say. Thank you very much for your kind words! 😘💕 I am planning on making a tutorial on soapcalc. In the meantime, I love reading Kenna's articles for the science behind soapmaking. The 60-65% is pretty high. It may be a hard bar, but I would think it would accelerate be hard to design with. Anything over 50% saturated fats can be hard to make swirls. My recipes are usually around 43:57 saturated to unsaturated. www.modernsoapmaking.com/category/soap-science/ Clay is recommended at up to one tsp PPO. Amanda Aaron has great resources too. www.lovinsoap.com/soapmaking-additive-chart/ Vegetable pulp like purees are considered part of your liquid. You can use them for 100% of your liquid, but I would use an equal ratio of lye to water and add the rest of your liquids in the form of puree to your oils. Does that make sense?

Flat stick for me. I love oxides but the first time I used it in my soap, the colors were running down into the white layers when it was wet and it was just ugly. Maybe I used too much oxides? Yep, the stick is definitely the winner. It was probably too much oxides. Though these colors were lighter, they were only used at .18 tsp PPO and .09 tsp PPO. A normal for mica is 1 tsp PPO. Try 1/4 tsp PPO. I will put the secret swirl on my list. Thank you! 💖

Ha! Right when you said we could ask you for something we don't know how to do just ask I literally thought of how to use a soap calculator. I am new to soap making I have been researching a bunch on soap making but what I don't find is how to make a recipe with a soap calculator. There actually were a few but not detailed. That would be great if you could do a tutorial on using a soap calculator. Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much! I have the soapcalc tutorial on my list. I may eventually show how I make my boxes, but they are so time consuming, that I don't know how helpful a video like that would be. Maybe I'll just show for FYI purposes... Thank you so much for your feedback! 💖Have a great day! 🌸💕

In one of your videos you said that you used 25% of water of oil weight. Do you manipulate the lye concentration on soap calc or will it automatically adjust. Thank you. Your really talented.

Loved the pattern and the colours! Could you tell me why use the titanium dioxide please? Does it make it easier to keep colours separated?
@TreeMarieSoapworks

Thank you! 💖 I just use TD as a white colorant. I added it to the yellow and brown to get a lighter color and white was just the color picked for the center color.
