Totally agree about the bike paths being the best part of Taipei. Any time you see people riding bikes freely and enjoying themselves in a stress-free environment it makes you feel good.

When I was in Taiwan 10 years ago Giant was so big that you could do with bikes there what you can do with rental cars in other places, meaning, rent the bike in one city and drop it off in another city. Amazingly convenient. I rented in Hualien and rode a zig zag route to Tainan. Maybe this service, if it still exists, is worth a video for your fans. It was a great way to take a vacation and see Taiwan.

Tamsui is the romanization of the place name that is more closely representative of the pronunciation in the Taiwanese Hokkien dialect. Danshui is the Mandarin romanization using Pinyin of the same name. There's also an older Wade-Giles romanization of Mandarin that was used until the 2000s when most of Taiwan switched over to Hanyu/Tongyong Pinyin. A lot of places are still officially romanized in Wade-Giles (e.g. Kaohsiung ["Gaoxiong" in Hanyu Pinyin], Taipei ["Taibei" in Hanyu Pinyin], Keelung ["Jilong" in Hanyu Pinyin] etc).

First of all, love your content. With that being said, your dislike of people using umbrellas without rain cracks me up. 10:31 made me lol... 😂😂😂

Cruise, you should be on the Taipei Tourism board. How many videos do you think this trip will yield? Keep up with all the great content. Cheers!

That would be a dream job! Maybe they can help sponsor the next trip haha. We've got one more main big cycling video, and a few other food/travel videos. Also, will maybe do some separate videos talking about Taiwan/Japan.

Thanks...that was a great video 👍 I was in that area about 10 years ago and never knew about that bike path. Back then I did some hiking in yami mountains among a lot of steam vents and visited a restaurant/bath house in the mountain that was really nice. Hope I get back there soon, and with your help, I should have better time on a bike. Would you mind saying what a nice road bike rents for there? Thanks again!
@TwoWheelCruise6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't think these paths were around 10 years ago, but not exactly sure. We rented road bikes from Giant for touring, and regular road bikes from a local in the area. The giant bikes were solid, though they are a flat style handle bar. I'm sure you can find some rental road bikes around though..

@@TwoWheelCruise I found this place that came well recommended that rents proper steel touring bikes for a reasonable rate - mathewbike.com/en/rental/

Great video. My daughter and family live in Danshui. Felt very familiar your trip to Jiufen and then to Danshui. Hoping to go again next year- if allowed!. Will hire a bike for a couple of weeks and cycle around the island as part of my visit. Was going to take my bike but hire cost seem really reasonable.

12:30 Taiwan designs some crazy slope angles for their pedestrian bridges. This bridge reminds me of Xiying Rainbow Bridge in Magong City out in Penghu Island, in Taiwan... Ankle buster climbs!

I hope to rent a bike for route no. 1. Plan some stop stations. However, if i dont complete the route, how to return the bike. Also, is it expensive if i want to rent a good bike as there may be some upslopes. Also, when they say peak season, how peak is it. Is good to see some cyclists but i scared too crowded.

淡水河: "T" is most likely derived from Cantonese (my mother tongue hehe). And "D" is most likely derived from Mandarin.

@floridanatindim16156 жыл бұрын
wow where did you rent your bike? do you have any contact on how to rent one thanks :)
@TwoWheelCruise6 жыл бұрын
we rented these road bikes from a local rider for this part of our trip, but rented with Giant for other parts of our trip.
First thing I notice is... other cyclist actually following the proper direction of travel, and slower riders staying to the side of the path. Definitely not Japan!
@TwoWheelCruise6 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah.. I think a big part of it is infrastructure.. if Japan built more roads for cyclists/bikes, I think more people would follow the rules, but now it's just kind of a free for all 😑
