@@Irishb0y Why should Taiwan?
@0ccc17 ай бұрын
@@Irishb0y Hong Kong is an administrative region returned to China after a leasing arrangement, whereas Taiwan has a different historical background. Since the Chinese Civil War on 1949, Taiwan has been predominantly ruled by the Kuomintang (KMT), which is a different party from CCP since then. While Hong Kong has elections for its Chief Executive, the candidates often have ties to the Chinese Communist Party. Overall, Chinese citizens lack the direct right to elect a president and are restricted in forming alternative political parties. Chinese people aren’t even allowed to criticize their leader and government. Since the 1980s, Taiwan has undergone a series of democratic transformations. People have the ability to directly elect the president and establish political parties. And we have freedom of speech. Thus, we do not wish to be classified as a special administrative region of China. Because it might means we should be ruled by CCP and has to give up our democracy and freedom.

@@Irishb0y You have asked the wrong question. While Taiwan abviously has a higher degree of freedom and democracy, why Taiwan has to be part of China as HK?

【Is China a geographical term or a country?】 China, Africa, Americas, Asia, and the Korean Peninsula are all just geographical terms. Regarding China and Africa, or South Africa, do they need to hold a meeting to declare that our consensus is that they are all Africans? Do South Korea and North Korea need to meet and declare that they are all Koreans (peninsula)? Should Argentina and the United States hold a meeting to say that we are all Americans? In reality, China is just a geographical term, not a country. It broadly refers to the mainland and its associated islands. The Qing Dynasty and the Chinese Communist Party are just dynasties on this land. The Ming and Qing Dynasties ruled China for 276 years separately, and it is estimated that the People's Republic of China will need another 201 years to democratize. Currently, within this geographical term "China," there are two countries: the People's Republic of China, which implements communist rule, and the Republic of China, which implements a democratic system. This is a fact, and denying this fact is like living in a dream. There are currently two parties living in a dream: the Chinese Communist Party and the Kuomintang, both fantasizing about reunification. When Ma Ying-jeou talks about the "1992 Consensus" and the "One China" principle, he is referring to one country, not the geographical term "China." If China were just a geographical term, there would be no need for the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China to declare anything in a meeting. From the perspective of Chinese history, attempts to resist or restore never succeeded. In the end, the weaker side is always eliminated. The Kuomintang's fantasy is essentially selling out. 【Does Biden really oppose Taiwan independence and support One China?】 Taiwan as a country does not exist. Does the Republic of China exist? Biden opposes Taiwan independence but has not said anything against the independence of the Republic of China. The Republic of China was established in 1911, so it has already gained independence, there's no need to declare it again. Taiwan is currently ruled by a local government, so who would it declare independence to? There is no issue of declaring independence for Taiwan itself, the only question is whether the Republic of China needs to change its national title. The Republic of China and the People's Republic of China both belong to one China, referring to the geographical name, including the mainland and its associated islands. It's similar to how the United States, Brazil, and Argentina all belong to one America. America is just a geographical term, and South Africa and Central Africa both belong to one Africa. Africa is also just a geographical term. When Biden mentions "One China," he is referring to a geographical China, not saying that there is only one country on the land of China. If the United States truly considered Taiwan part of the People's Republic of China, why would it sell arms to Taiwan and sanction the People's Republic of China? It's evident that, although the United States has not officially recognized the Republic of China, it still treats it as a country.

It's hilarious. I doubt the behavior of obsoleting Chinese culture from Taiwan history book by DPP in the last 20 years is called "keep status quo". Taiwan is on the edge towards jingoistic. 🙃

Woe to those who decree unjust laws, and to the clerks who prescribe oppression. To divert the poor from their right, and to take away the right of the afflicted of my people; to despoil the widows and rob the orphans! But what will you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation that is to come from afar? It is worth knowing God and obeying the gospel of Jesus Christ, because as Nebuchadnezzar said: there is no other God who can deliver like this. Tithe all profits you make and reject alcoholic beverages.

This election result does not represent what the people of Taiwan want. More than 60% of the population did not vote for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). Three parties were competing against each other. The DPP only won by 40%. The election system in Taiwan is very unfair. If it is in France, for example, there will be a second election featuring the two candidates with the highest supporters. After this, there would be a true winner who won over 50%.
