Taiwan Part 1: Taipei First Impressions

These are my first impressions of Taipei from our first day. I didn't realise quite how much I looked like a panda after our overnight flight, so please excuse the smudged mascara in the first video!
We explore Ximending, staying at the East Dragon Hotel, the Chiang Kai Shek memorial, and onto Taipei 101.
Looking back now, I find myself wondering at the engineering marvel that is the tuned mass damper in the Taipei 101 tower, knowing that it kept occupants of the building fairly safe during the recent earthquake at the start of April.

Get out of Taipei and go to the smaller townships... you'll be surprised how superfriendly the people are and the food and coffees are really on point

Ximending is, strictly speaking, not a night market but a pedestrian walking district. To visit proper night markets, you should go to Ningxia or Shiling Night Markets.
